Ya know...rolling your kids side to side (HARD) and spilling your groceries all over is usually a bad thing. 40 year old men have viagra now. What do they need that for?

Renault Espace F1. 3.5 litre V10 from Williams Renault F1 car, pushing 800hp. F1 car chassis. Espace body built in honeycombed carbon fibre. 0-60mph in less than 2.5s, 1/4 miles dispatched in under 10s and can actually go around a corner.

Everything else is just a pale imitation.

And then notice that you're pushing 4mpg...

Now way. 2.2 turbo gets wayyyyy better mileage than that.

Yeah but you can still drive the kids and/or haul stuff around in the ones on that site on a daily basis.....

But if you're modifying it to the point where you can beat 0-60mph in 5.0s cars like the Mustang and EvoVIII, you're not going to be seeing a good return. Add on the fact that you're caning it off the lights (probably regularly)...

The Hummer H2, under full acceleration in top gear was shown (on Top Gear :D) by the trip computer, to be doing 1mpg. ONE! Okay, so it's an extreme case, but it at least is a standard car. And not being measured dragging off the lights.

That why u have a power/economy switch....

flip it one way you got a fire breather, the other way you have a slightly fuel hungary 4 cylinder.....

Hell yeah! my friends got one, maybe we can turn his from a "one wheel drive" to that! :odd: (nothing can save that piece of...)

That is street racing - racing someone off the lights on a street.

Yes - even though drag racing isn't that common over here.

A traffic light is not a tree. It is not an invitation to race the car alongside you. It is a signal, telling you when it is safe or unsafe to proceed.

Racing on the street is street-racing. So in response to your question:

"who said anything about street racing???"

YOU did:

"its gotta be fun to pull up beside a Mustang at the lights and totally kill it with your van.... "

You really are a dumb bastard....

NO **** a traffic light isn't a tree! Anyone who thinks it is should be shot.
I never said anything about racing on the street. We happen to have many drag strips around here that hold weekly races for ANYONE with a car that passes safty inspection to come and race. You just pull up to the line and race who ever is in the other lane. Thats why we say 'pull up beside(insert car here) at the lights(OF THE TREE)

You really need to get that fixation you have with street racing checked out....

Oh dear... Having a problem expressing ourselves clearly without swearing are we. And you were doing so well.

I have no fixation with street racing - hence my lack of fascination for 1/4 miles - or other straight line - times. I just don't care. Corners - that's the way to go.

Oh, and that page you referenced? Let's read the image shall we:

"Let's scare the pants off the Mustang in the next lane. Let's humiliate the guy driving the Evo 8. Let's trounce the Z-28 while hauling lumber home from Lowe's. But most importantly, let's do it all because the police don't look at us. Screw motoring, LET'S RACE."

Not only endorsing racing on public roads, but too stupid to spell properly two of the three car names they mention (and I wonder what happens when that Evolution VIII comes to a corner - or stopping distances).

Gee I wonder why they have this then??? Could it be becasue they were joking a little in the picture????

This web site discusses ideas on modifying engines to make more power. Some of these ideas involve assuming manual control of functions usually regulated by the vehicle itself, such as turbo boost output, fuel pressure, etc. General instructions are included where possible, however if things go wrong the results could be damaging to your engine. TurboMinivan.com provides this information merely to illustrate some methods others have used in their quest for increased performance. We assume no liability for the information contained herein, nor do we warrant its fitness for any particular application. You should realize that any modifications you make to your own vehicle are your own responsibility; by making any modifications you choose to accept any risks inherent in so doing.

This site also frequently mentions racing. When we suggest you go racing, we refer explicitly to drag racing at an NHRA-sanctioned drag strip designated for such activities. We encourage responsible, safe driving practices at all times; we do not condone speeding, street racing, or any other illegal activity.

P.S. Note the last paragraph.....

 Nice. What next? A site describing how to skin and cook cats with a disclaimer saying "We do not condone skinning and cooking cats"?

Their lead image on their site is EXACTLY that - condoning, and indeed actively encouraging, street racing. If they really didn't condone street racing, they wouldn't have the sign.

It's like people who say "No offence, but", then proceed to offend anyone they can. If they really meant no offence, then they wouldn't say anything.

And if they didn't condone it, then they wouldn't have this page (or at least they'd edit it).

http://www.turbominivan.com/stories.htm

Edit: Or this one

http://www.turbominivan.com/who.htm

"In short, we could be anybody... anywhere... maybe even in your neighborhood, cruising your streets, waiting for you to pull alongside at that red light up ahead."

Yeah, not condoning street racing...

i guess some people can tell a joke when they see one and some people just can't....

I guess thats why they have to have disclaimers.....

Lots of guessing, and not a lot of knowing going on there.

The site has decent technical information for people who wish to do they same as they have done, and on that point they score well - informative and easy to read. But if they seriously didn't condone street-racing these parts of the site would be edited out. The disclaimer is there so that they can look responsible. THAT is why they have disclaimers.

Slimer, if you wish to debate the extent of a site, or anything for that matter. I suggest you do so with a bit more repsect and elloquence.

Arguing/debating on GTP is encouraged. Stooping to insults and swearing is not.

Thank you.

Der Alta.
