You have $120,000 to spend on one car.
This will be a daily driver and must be a convertible.
What do you buy?

I have a question. Is modification allowed or does the money all have to be spent on a single vehicle?

Used 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo for around £70,000/$113,000.

It was a toss up between that and the F-Type, but I will go Porsche.

Considering I have to deal with snow, I'd like to not go with a RWD sports car, but I will anyways.

I'd go for a '67 but there is only one in existence, and it auctioned for $830,000.

Otherwise I'd use any other money I'd have on other models I rather like.

The current exchange rate gives me about £75,000, which will buy quite a lot on the UK used market. I'm torn between a manual 430 spider and a manual V8 Vantage volante. The Vantage would be so much more useable, and it's an Aston, so I think I'd have to have it. It's the slightly more sensible choice.

This one is going for £48,000.

I have to say, I'm really tempted by the Jaguar F-Type, but they don't offer a manual, which is a deal breaker for me. If they did, though, I'd have a lightly used V6S.

I was tempted to say Aston Martin but I would need something with 4 seats.
The Ford GT was up there but GOOD LUCK in finding one @ $120k.

I'll go right under that budget at about $117,000 MSRP:

BMW M6 Convertible.

The 911 Turbo posted by Pagey is tempting but there needs to be some more space in the back.

I like CheezIt and Murcie's choices a lot 👍

My search on Autotrader gave me a few interesting choices. I think an R8 Spyder would be nearly ideal for the daily driver thing, but two problems: it doesn't seem to fall under $125k Canadian (even the 4.2L holds value well), and it loses the signature blades. A softer choice, the Maserati Granturismo was pretty high up too, and definitely clears the budget with a lot leftover. Said budget kills a post-facelift Gallardo chances though. A 360 Spider can be had in any colour/equipment combination you'd like, and a 997.2 GTS convertible can do the same. Going new, I could get a year-old M6 convertible, but... I'd rather not.

Since my commute is never very far though? I'm going left-field, for 85,000:

I found a few E-Type roadsters online, but being realistic, that's not a daily driver. As is, to be fair, pretty much any British roadster from the 50s and up.

C2 Vettes are more of the same, really... They're great cars, I just don't think I could be able to drive it everyday like it's nothing special.

Found a few Shelby Series 1 which surprised me, I didn't think they even made it past the prototype form.

I found a Diablo Roadster for 90k and thought, that's it, that's my choice. But then I remembered, daily driver.

I didn't want to go with the obvious F430, R8 or Continental GT, so I went with:

Which can be had for around 85 to 90k on the web as it is. I'll have mine in black, though.

Plenty to play with with $120,000. However...convertible is a struggle for me (not a fan of them, but have some cars that work well as convertibles). Having to be a daily driver...well. I like colder climates and if it really was the only choice for some reason, I'd chose something with AWD. As well as whatever might happen if you spend less than that money, what will happen to the rest? Probably overthinking it...

If I had to spend just about $120k on a daily convertible. It would possibly be a Continental GTC. But as that's already been listed and I'm not such a big fan of them anyways. I suppose this:

Audi R8 V10 Spyder.

If I could use some of the money to play with afterwards, I suppose an RS5 Cabrio.

Or maybe:

With that kind of money, I reckon I could have both since both would be more or less basic and the 59 isn't as expensive as, say, a tri-five.

Well then.... I'll take literally any of the above. Especially the TVR, Shelbys, or Audis.

Since it's a daily driver it should be modern and confortable, but sporty as well. If I do have a secondary car with a stick I certainly would not mind an F-type V8S.

Carrera 4S as is would peg the 120k limit. My other options would be F-type V6S and some A-M convertibles..

Thinking like a rich bloke is a lot of fun! Do I go for the only Hertz Mustang convertible in Australia at $110,000?

The awesome to look at Ferrari 348 at $109,000?

Or the absoloutly epic Mercedes AMG SL65 at $119,000?

I... I think I'd have to buy a house instead to be honest

£75,000 for a convertbile DD?

I'll dip well under that budget and get a £45k Audi TT RS Roadster.

You'll have to take my word for it here, but it shouldn't be.

Really? Is the auto in it that good or is the car not suited to a manual?

Also, @the kitten and camaroboy, the thread title specifies one car only, and if you read the OP you'll notice that it must be a convertible.

Combined should equal about $120,000.00. Might even have some change left over for a 2002 ram air trans am. :sly:

One of these. MCNAGTROC 's dads car.
