I thought the CCX was nothing more than a more personalisable CCR, when I read some specs, the power was the same, I think it was a few kg's lighter but nothing drastic.

That'd be a cool video to see The Carrera GT, Enzo and Veyron drag! Maybe top gear should give her a try. Heck, they should put all the supercars against the Veyron down a strip of runway!

Agreed. Didn't JC on TopGear say the Veyron will get to 200mph by the time the Enzo gets to 130mph? Or something to that effect? TopGear should drag the Enzo, Carrera GT, Zonda, 911 GT3, Bentley Continental GT, SL65 AMG, Vette ZO6, and the Veyron. And then maybe the Veyron would get a little street cred. After all no one is complaining about the fact that the Enzo is $800k-$1m...that's close enough to me to add it into the same catagory as the Veyron.

First of all, GT3, Z06, SL65, Continental GT are all in a different league than the Veyron. Its like comparing apples and oranges.

And Enzo costs $643,000 US, I know because I have a Road & Track data panel on my wall. Veyron is $1,000,000+. Veyron has a 350hp advantage. It has 4 turbos vs. NA. It has 4WD vs. RWD. It isnt a fair battle.

The Enzo's MSRP is ludacris because everyone knows not one even sold for that amount--and try and find one now for less than $800k. And secondly, that's exactly my point about the drag race--it's not supposed to be fair--my point is to show just how fast the Veyron is against the rest the world so maybe it will get just a little bit of respect. Hate the cost, hate the car, but respect what it can do. :sly:

Yeah, its possible to think that way - but I dont think drag racing them will win any street cred. Its obvious what 4 turbos, 1001hp and 985 lb-ft of torque can do :sly:

You guys can't tell me that the little kid inside us all wouldn't WANT to see the Veyron wipe the floor with these other super/hypercars? I LOVE the Carrera GT and Zonda beyond anything holy but it would tickle me pink to see the Veyron race them in a straight up drag. Hell, put "regular cars" in that too--I just want to see that just because. Think about how good the noise would be to have all these godly cars with these godly engines racing.

They had Nigel Mansel on Top Gear in the middle of their whole episode which was the race with the Bugatti. And Nigel turned down Jeremy's request in a drag strip race with Nigel in a Formula 1 car. But if they had to go around corners it would be ok.

I remember that episode--even Nigel knew the F1 car would probably get beat in a straight line--even if he didn't directly say it. Throw the F1 car in the mix along with the others I mentioned! Damn it I just want to see the Veyron drag race some shizz. :sly:

It wasn't a Formula 1 car, it was an A1GP car, looks similar but they have less power, 650bhp I think. A Formual 1 car can acceleratefaster than a Veyron right from off the line, half a second or more quicker to 60 and they have been recorded at hitting 120mph in 4 seconds. Nothing on the road can compete with an F1 car.

It was actually a Grand Prix Masters car. More powerful than the A1GP cars (GPM cars putting out "more than 650bhp" and A1GP putting out 520 (or 550 in the "boost" mode)), but also heavier (650kg for GPM, 600kg for A1GP).

Anyway, you're obviously correct in that a current F1 car is quite a bit quicker accelerating than a Veyron (at least up until 150mph or so, I remember reading somewhere that the McLaren F1 was quicker than a Formula 1 car above 150mph (when the McLaren debuted)).

Ah well, we get there finally, yeah it was a Grand Prix Masters car, I just had A1GP on my mind for some reason.

Id want the veryon to drag race a street legal 1400hp skyline or supra aswell and I bet the veyron would beat that with ease too.

Well it has shown how easilly it can out accelerate a 1000bhp S7TT, so yeah, I'd put my money on the Veyron beating anything on road tyre's. Then again maybe I don't know enough about drag racing and people that drag race their own road legal car's to make a qualified answer to that, thinking aobut it, on a 1/4 mile, some car's might win, car's built for the 1/4 mile, on a longer strip though, I could see the Veyron wining against anything I can think of right now on road tyre's.

Veyron takes 16.7 secs from 0-300km/h, this Veilside Skyline only takes 13.72.

And no doubt there are quicker street legal cars than this Skyline to 300km/h.

Over what distance?

A mile :sly:

I think the 1400hp skylines etc would beat it if it was a shorter distance.

They should do about 10 consecutive runs. the skylines and supras would probably have blown up by about the 4th launch.

Whats the numbers to convert km to miles?

Am I the only person who thinks the most impressive aspect of the Veyron is that unearthly growl it makes under full acceleration?

How does an FXX stack up against a Veyron though?

On a track or in a straight line, in a straight line, probably not too good, on a track it should be the other way round. Both are great car's but both built for very different reasons, and one isn't road legal and wears racing rubber.

and weighs 1000 lbs less than the other with only 200 less Hp.

Man that Veyron sounds amazing though, I think im gonna go listen to it again.

Seen the 0-210kph video to it? It sounds quite different to the video I posted earler.

Plus, still no proper news on the 'net about the 272mph Veyron. I should be buying the magazine today, so I'll be able to take a picture of the article and post it up later.

VW had difficulty finding somewhere to test the standard Veyron's top speed - a theoretical 272mph Veyron seems more than a little pointless to me.

The article:

I wonder if they would upgrade your 1001hp Veyron to take it to 1232bhp spec? (for a price obvouisly.)

Really screws over existing Veyron owners... poor sods with their million dollar supercars. :(

I'll be looking forward to the next one that (apparently) won't look uglier than a cow giving birth.
