The Chevrolet Corvette, First built in 1952, was the ultimate american sports car. The Dodge (SRT) Viper, originally created in 1991, as the ultimate competitor for the corvette, and decades later, they are still part of a head to head battle to become the best, fastest sports car in the world. and today im going to review these two american monsters in an unbiased, unhindered test. ()

First we have the C7 corvette. nicknamed the stingray, this machine has become an icon for america's motoring industry. its sleek design, light weight and high precision also help it to compete as a world class supercar. maxing out at 454 BHP (around 50 less than the previous installment), and with a weight of 1490 KG, this car is a real track rocket. Unfortunately, compared to the Viper, the handling on this car is quite stiff, giving it less speed in the corners. This car comes in at $51,000 (GT6 pricing)

Apricot Hill lap time: 1:32.961 (SH tires)
GT6 PP rating: 526 (stock)
Fully tuned PP: 634

Now for the much more powerfull, much more aggressive, SRT Viper. With a huge 640 BHP, and a reasonably light 1556 KG, this car is and absolute monster. however, with this much power, its quite easy to loose traction when exiting corners, so be careful. Because of this, the Apricot hill lap time was lacking, considering the big 40PP difference in the two cars. this car comes in at $123,000 (GT6 pricing)

Apricot Hill lap time: 1:31.376 (SH tires)
GT6 PP rating: 566 (stock)
Fully tuned PP: 639

Overall, i would take the Corvette, despite its lower performance. the reason being its less than half the price, and once fully tuned, becomes more or less equal to the viper. What would YOU take?

If anyone is wondering, the reason i decided to make this review is because i wasnt sure which of the two i should buy in GT6, so i thought 'Why not ask GTP?". in making a poll saying which i should buy, i decided to do a review on the two, which in turn helped me decide which to buy, so i decided to see what you think. if i have any statistics wrong, i apologize as i am NOT and american muscle fan, and today was the first time ive ever looked into any of these cars really!:O

Please reply and tell me why you like what you like!

(This review is mostly based off the GT6 interpretation of these cars)

I kind of like the C7 Corvette (I prefer the C4. Best Corvette ever.), but my dream car has always been the Viper. So Viper.

It's cheaper, yes, but it doesn't have the feel that the Viper has. the C7 is okay, but it feels kind of "saggy." Let's wait for the ZR-1 and we'll see. Oh, and tuning doesn't count. Almost every car can be faster than anything when heavily tuned. What counts is what comes out of the manufacturer.

At the end, it's all a matter of personal choice. I'd even take a '93 Viper RT/10 over a C6 ZR-1.

They're both relatively cheap.. Buy both. You did this review as if you're going to buy them in real life . But seriously, i imagine you have more than enough money to buy both.

It went pretty quickly from decision making to a review!:D

I would pick the Viper, it is better in a straight line and more fun to drive (in the game. If only I had first hand experience driving them in real life...)

Cars aren't really comparable imo.
Viper vs ZR1, sure, but not the Corvette with 200 less HP. How you managed to lap them so close is making me delirious.

I was suprised too. in fact so suprised, i ended up doing about 10 laps in the viper, just to be sure, and only 2 in the vette. im not sure why, but the viper is painfully slippery in the corners.

Very hard to choose just one. I would have preferred a vote for both. Awesome cars they are.

The 2013 Viper GTS is probably my favorite new car this year. For an American car to win me over, it has to be pretty damn awesome. Between the 8.4L V10, the I-don't-give-a-🤬 styling, and the surprisingly good handling, it is just insane enough for me to love it. And then I tuned mine to 1087 horsepower. :D

Viper GTS, I think it looks a lot better, and still retains styling cues from past Vipers. And it has gobs of power.

I purposefully chose not to put a both option because i knew that almost everyone would tick that!:D

I love the raw power and massive-ass engine in the Viper.

I love the handling and looks of the Corvette.

Impossible for me to choose one over the other.

I feel more alive and on the edge driving the Viper GTS. As a few have said though; not really a fair comparison.

Although I like looking at the Viper, I don't like to drive it because of the low rev range. So Stingray for me :)

I let my nephew try the 'Vette on SSRX and he took it past 230mph.
This was in arcade mode and the car was from the recommended list.
I know the new Stingray has some amazing aerodynamic qualities but 230?

Just get this and call it a day..

Just did a test with both cars stock. I must say that the results are quite different from what you got. The Viper is two seconds faster than the Stingray, even after messing up. Just did two laps with each. The Viper first, so I was warmed up with the Corvette.

With this result, I reassure that the Viper is a better car all around. It drives so smoothly in Sport Hard tires that it feels like it's on Sport Softs. The C7 feels like it's driving on ice cubes. I don't remember which is lighter, but the Corvette feels very heavy too.

Not only that, the Viper is much more refined and well balanced and that new six speed transmission is a real treat. Can't say the same for the 7 speed manual of the Corvette which does nothing more than neuter the car's performance.

Again, this is the base Corvette, so it's an unfair comparison. Let's compare these two when Chevrolet releases the Z06 or ZR1.

The 2014 Corvette surprised me a lot, it can actually take corners quite well, unlike other older versions.
The Viper still seems to be a bit of a handful

Both are nice looking cars

I really enjoy both but man, I just love the Viper more. I just love the cockpit view and the rev limiter is that red glowing snake head, SO COOL!! Plus I have to admit to being a bit of a Dodge fanboy so I am slightly biased.

The 2014 Stingray is an absolute joy to drive but what was GM thinking with that rear fascia, it's hideous and after looking everywhere else on the car the rear end is like a train wreck. It doesn't flow with the rest of the car at all, all the semi smooth lines are all sharply muted into the stark razor edged look with weird looking lights stolen from the Camaro. Not sure what kind of look they were going for but it makes the Corvette look like it's confused about it's identity.

Viper is fun and with all that horsepower to throw around it a blast even though it feels sluggish on the straights. I love them both though. Lightly tuned with underbody work really make these car shine and that's with stock tires, you get that visceral power and edge of control feeling as you put these monstrous tires to work in both these cars.

Corvette all the way, even if this pairing is highly skewed.

The Corvettes stiffness lends itself to more stability at least. With the Viper it feels like it wants to be on a slip and slide on every corner exit.

Typical Viper, even though they improved it.

That's some of the appeal, honestly. The Viper just feels more organic. The 'Vette feels stiff and mechanical.
