2.02 Chase Camera Change - Now Dynamic

I drive 100% purely in chase view, so I hope they give the option at the very least to toggle back and forth to the old chase view. I'm going back to version 2.01 and stopping there if they don't either change it back or add it back as another option some how.

Too bad really. The old chase view was the same throughout the gt series (at least as far as I can remember), like part of the identity of gt in general.

Oh the days of GT2 when you had the freedom of choosing between different modes for the chase view. At what point they lost the concept of giving choice..
One of these updates, they really need to give us the ability to adjust EVERYTHING in the four driver views.
  • Driver cam position.
  • Aim and field of view.
  • Sway amount or fixed.
  • Amount of vibration and "quickness."
And Default of course, if you mess something up. I even suggest disabling views you never use, with the option to restore them if you change your mind.

Oh, and what SlipZtrEm says - you and your silly caps. ;) Look over the first two or three pages before starting a thread. I'm sure most of the topics are up by now.

What a lie is spread here.

There is not that much movement, the camera this time is just fixed even more to the car, not drunk, not bad, not hard, just closer and tighter. I like it, altrough the closer isn't really that great.

So because you like it other peoples opinion of it are wrong?

Too bad you probably wont be able to go online and use that....

And yes, the chase view has been there since GT1.
Bumper / Hood / Chase are the 3 classic views

I dont get some things from PD,
This new camera,
1st they dont mention it in the update log.
2nd It is more than obvious that some will like it ,some will hate it. right?
3rd If a lot of people complain about this (that IMO they will) PD will have to add an off/on option.
Why not add this option in first place? or even mention this change in the update log?
PD some times just doesn't makes sense.

Even my wife hates third person view cam, that cam is completely undriveable, it's ok for kids who want to "see" their cars. If PD glorified it with chase, then that's all good for those who wish to continue using it and to show off with it. I seriously doubt any top 100 hardcore sim racers would ever be able to drive competitively in a chase cam. I'd lose 15s per lap if I ever used it. to each their own.

Well I am not a kid I am 53 years old. Have used chase cam view since GT1 came out in 1998. Have owned all GT games and compleated GT 1,2,3,4, to 100% using chase cam. Have two more trophies to go to compleat GT5 to 100%. Have raced in online rooms with you several times and don't remember you ever finishing in front on me.

yeah your right,I only use cockpit cam, they should remove all other cam views.

Dude, seriously, when it comes to things like this, they seem to have no awareness how much they are screwing with the way people play the game. It's not even in the change log! What's the point of having a change log when you make big changes that aren't even recorded? It just seems so unprofessional. I am an amateur web-designer as my second job, and I'm dyslexic, and I keep better change logs than PD. Who at PD sits there and decides "you know, I think I'm going to make a massive change to one of the driving cams", and the thought to include an option to keep it the same, doesn't even occur to him?? If you're lucky you'll get a "hot"fix in about 2 months.

I'm angry and I don't even use chase cam, but I discovered this and I could tell within seconds that it was actually going to make people nauseous when they try to play their game. Total FAIL PD. Ugh.

I defend PD quite a lot, but they are utterly awful in this area. They seem to be slow-moving, uninformed, and inept about the most fundamental ergonomic features. I also remember when we could remove single lap times from practice records. Now we are asked "do you want to clear all data from rankings" - NO!

I couldn't play with the chase cam for more than a minute without switching to the hood view. It actually made me want to puke, and that's never happened to me while playing any video game before. That's not to say it doesn't look cool, but my stomach just can't handle it.

The only way to avoid the new disorientating chase cam is to avoid it. I personally don't mind the movement, got used to it fairly well but for some reason after at least 8 minutes the camera starts lagging and jagging about and it hurts my eyes. Still, a good advertisement for the other views, particularly cockpit view...

Like others have mentioned, they need to add an option if you want to use it... but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

I too have used the chase cam since first GT, not as much to see the road but more to see the people on either side of me. It gives me a better view when turning and avoiding other cars.

I have too for the longest time since I began playing GT2. I think my main reason is just because I want to see my car lol.:sly:

I like the new chase cam. I've used this view since GT1 and only started to use other views on GT5P mainly the cockpit view wich is what I use now. It seems for me that the cam gives a better feeling of how the car is reacting to the bumps. I'm also having the "lagging" bug on tighter turns and it is the only thing that annoys me (quite a lot).

i think who plays with chase cam want an arcade game.. otherwise one never would use such a cam..
i never used chase cam

Agree 100%. I only go on chase cam when messing around online or in a drag race.

Actually I found a way to get this style of cm to stick in GTA and I always do it deliberately... kinda like it.

I think this new cam is to try and get the rest of you 'in touch' with the car's movements on the track.

your all missing the point..ii asked if we could turn it off, not if you all liked it.

its a terrible camera view, i would understand if this was in cockpit view so it adds to realism but outside view? why?

Good snapshot, no? :D

It is incredible to see someone actually complain about the new chase cam :-) . I think it is great and much more realistic, and I am certain most of you will grow to like it.

atleast they could have had the option to turn it on or off ... iam totally dizzy right now playing 30~ mins ... ffs

Just took a Polo Cup car round the Ring and Jesus!!! I actually now have a head ache, it's abit violent. I like the effect, but it's abit too bumpy for my tastes. Guess I'll have to learn to love it though because I don't like the other views much lol. Please patch us a slider PD to let us choose how much we want to be shook around. Would be a nice addition to Interior views as it would be realistic.

I like the new chase cam, really notice the bumps and the car getting light over crests, one thing though. Do not roll your car on chase cam now! Seriously it was a mess!
