June 7th is when we can receive the gifts from GT Academy, that's less than 3 weeks from now. So there is a possibility we will get something more from this update within a month. The size is too big to just be slight tweaks.

Where did you get June 7th?

This is what it says on the GT website:

Prizes will be distributed one week after all "GT Academy 2012" events have concluded (on or after July 4, 2012). To add these items to your collection, all you need to do is start up your Gran Turismo 5.

Gran-Turismo site back up. Patch includes:

- It is now possible to adjust the race BGM and sound effect volume from "Quick Options" during a race.

- A save data backup feature has been added.

- Compatibility for the sequential shift mode of the Guillemot "TH8 RS" gear shifter has been added.

- A "Performance Difference Adjustment" has been added to the rewards for seasonal events (Applies only to seasonal events held after this update).

- Force feedback for the "Driving Force™GT", "GT FORCE®Pro", "G25 Racing Wheel", " G27 Racing Wheel", and " T500 RS" steering wheel controllers have been improved.

- A car with racing modifications applied are now categorized as a Racing Car (previously Tuned Car).

- The off-track shortcut penalty has been tweaked.

- A new GT5 Photo Stream service has started on gran-turismo.com. Photographs taken in Photo Mode and set to "Share" will now appear on a web page viewable by all visitors.
- GT5 Photo Stream (U.S. Version if it matters)

[Correction of Known Issues]
- Fixed a problem where Karts and Ferrari F1 cars could drive together with other cars in the Lounge
- Fixed a rarely occurring issue in which the system freezes when exiting the lounge
- Fixed a problem where you could purchase tires for the 125 SPL racing Kart in the tuning parts shop (Tires purchased previously will now become invalid)
- Fixed a problem in which the straight-line stability of the Lancer Evolution X was decreased when using a steering wheel controller
- Fixed an issue where wrong color dirt and snow tire wheels were displayed on some cars when the wheels were changed
- Fixed delay when launchiing electric cars using controllers other than a steering wheel controller pedal
- Fixed a rarely occurring issue where the system would freeze at the end of a race
- Fixed an issue where it becomes difficult to hear your own car when driving with other racecars in online races, etc.

Taken directly from here.

Dammit, was hoping for a new track or car pack set up. But maybe this is the start of an announcement?

Does anyone else think the race sound effects have been tweaked? From cockpit view the sound seems a bit quieter and the difference between looking forward/rearview seems to be reduced.

Oh no! Drafting! I loved hearing the difference between drafting and not drafting. I hope they haven't fixed/changed that.

The cockpit view has been adjusted. Looks like you're farther back now.
The Jaguar XK's interior view remains ridiculously too close and low to the front unfortunately...

I've also noticed that the spectators are back in the London Track. I'm pretty sure they were removed in the Spec 2 update...

I only did a couple of laps round the ring after the update so I don't know if drafting is any different. The sound felt different to me in GT Academy and perhaps they caried over some changes (along with the new quick options menu ).

Boo. I liked having these 'features'.

- Fixed an issue where it becomes difficult to hear your own car when driving with other racecars in online races, etc.

False PD, this is now far worse than before. When around other vehicles, the only thing I can hear is a distorted sound of the car next to me. My vehicle, and everything it's giving off (tire screech, wind noise) is almost totally silent. I have to be at least 200 meters away from any other car to have my sound back properly.

Also, in the last vehicle I was driving (Premium Cusco Subaru 08), the engine and exhaust were much louder when looking backwards in the 3rd person view mode, and most of that loud volume was coming from the right side channel.

Have anyone tested Nissan Silvia, R32 GTR and the 370Z on GT5 with the 2.06 update ? I would like to know if they handle the same with the ones from GTA ... if so, then it means PD have updated the physics as well :)

Downloading update now .. ... waiting

I had this already..

Nope. Still only on restart race.

I mean, it's not that big of a deal, it can happen that you might want to go to quick options and accidentally skip past it and click "exit".

To me, it just begs the question as to why "restart race" has it and "exit" doesn't, choosing either one erroneously is an equally big mistake, particularly on a long race. Stragely enough B-Spec has it though.

B-spec is a lot more button intensive, and, the B-spec doesn't even have a start menu. No quick options list for music for on B-Spec? :( I don't need to hear my Rostov's car, I know he's a bad driver, and I will just let him do what he wants. He rarely ever wins anymore...

Absolutely. Comparisons are pretty much the only credible source of information until PD gives us the update details.

Edit: As evidenced by the comment above about the sign not being there... misinformation is not appreciated.

I'm sure he thought the sign wasn't there because the tunnels got more lighting, and it shows up much better now, I wouldn't call that misinformation, just a mistake. I think it's pretty normal to be excited about the new update and it's features, it's a shame there has to be a few negative nellies in the crowd.

Wow, "rarely" to me has a very different meaning than "EVERY SINGLE TIME" I go to exit a room I can come back 20-30 minutes later and it's still stuck there. Nice to know that was only rare, though.:ouch:

I saw the dirt wheels change on my '69 Corvette Convertible once online as well, I wasn't concerned with it but I guess some people might be.

My tire sound issues seemed to be resolved. but the online stability seems the same.

Did anyone notice the picture of the GT home screen? There's a NASCAR background- I swear that's new.

Do you mean the one with the driver shaking hands with a mechanic? That's you/your driver being introduced to the team when you start GT5 for the first time.

Both Jenkins and Bernie are currently featured at this time.

In the second picture of Jenkins that's at the bottom of the page, it looks like Jenkins is taking a rather strenuous dump.

I am surprised that no-one has discussed the

'- A "Performance Difference Adjustment" has been added to the rewards for seasonal events (Applies only to seasonal events held after this update).'

My guess; after completing a seasonal event you can then adjust the speed of the AI for your re-runs ?

Well, they've never let us know when DLC files are included in a patch before, I don't suppose they would now. And with half a gig, there has to be something in there...*cheers "nsx, nsx, nsx!" in head*

Don't know where I got June 7th. Something else was on my mind. July 4th is about 6 weeks, I'm hoping we get more information on what else this update was for (if anything) before then.

OMG
there are 110 people viewing this thread!! Half of them aren't members!!

I'm surprised too. I checked this thread out for that and the FFB adjustment "reviews".

If it would allow for old-school Seasonal Restrictions, I would be the happiest man alive.

To me it sounds like that if the race restrictions are set to 600pp and racing hard (or less) and you race a car with these specs you get a certain reward. But if you win with a car which has a lower spec (let say 550pp, sport soft), you recieve a better reward....but this is just my guess.

Maybe the reward will simply depend on the pp and tyres we use; don't know if this is just about money and xp reward, or also reward tickets (like "level xxx ticket" or "car restoration ticket" received only once for winning below 370pp and below confort medium ... or things like that

So can anyone say something about this,is it stronger and does the wheel vibrate like before when going over kerbs?

I'm curious to know this too.

Could anyone respond?
