Apologies again to all who've been waiting for my lazy arse to post the times and get the new thread up and running, but here is the thread for the third and fourth rounds of...

TWO-POINT-THREE SPORTS CAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Round three will be held at Special Stage Route 5 and round four will take place at Grand Valley Speedway.
If you wish to join this tournament, have any questions about the rules or how this tournament will be run I'm sure you'll find the answer in either the 2.3 registration thread or the original 2.3 Sports Car thread.
However, if you do find that the answers you are looking for are not covered, then feel free to PM one of the race stewards(either DUNDA or myself).

The pole sitter Live4Speed holds his position to take first place and he is closely followed by GeorgeMorley in second completing the one-two finish. The two GeorgeSpeed entries and DUNDA again rounding out the top three. In fourth is Jetboys, in both his McLaren and his XK-R. Just seven tenths of a second behind and in 6th place is AngelCreator with his Suzuki GSX-R/4!!
A good twenty four seconds down the track are the remaining Anglo-Nippon submitted entries. Both Danisfast and racefan88501 take these places just two seconds apart!! Going over the 19 minute mark is east, who qualified strongly and in 10th place is Bigracer. Every other Classification is a non-submission.

If I've missed anyone PLEASE PM ME ASAP!!!

ROUND 4 - GRAND VALLEY SPEEDWAY
QUALIFYING: 10th AUGUST - 14th AUGUST
RACE: 15th AUGUST - 19th AUGUST

10th: Car #23: Honda NSX Type R '02 -DB- east ()

Jetboys scores his first pole position with an absolutely outrageous time of 1'36''598. Right behind him is racefan88501 in the leading Anglo-Nippon Racing entrys in both second and third. Fourth place is taken by Jetboys in his second entry and AngelCreator is in fifth and sixth place rounding out the top three rows of the grid.
Row four is taken up by Danisfast's Toyota entry and Bigracer's BMW M5. Ninth place is Danisfast again, with his second entry.
With the current tournament dramas surrounding most of them, none of the leading four have posted any lap times...

RACE RESULTS

1st: Car #0: Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren -DB- Jetboys427 (24'06''090)
2nd: Car #7: Aston Martin DB9 -DB- racefan88501 (24'32''914)
3rd: Car #14: BMW M3 CSL -DB- racefan88501 (24'39''535)
4th: Car #917: Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car -DB- AngelCreator (25'18''492)
5th: Car #00: Suzuki GSX-R/4 -DB- AngelCreator (25'33''702)
6th: Car #12: Toyota Supra RZ -DB- Danisfast (25'41''331)
7th: Car #21: Lotus Esprit V8 -DB- Danisfast (26'32''692)
8th: Car #5: BMW M5 -DB- Bigracer (26'46''840)
9th: Car #706: Jaguar XK-R -DB- Jetboys427 (DNF)
10th: Car #23: Honda NSX Type R '02 -DB- east (DNS)

Jetboys holds firm and first position despite the constant threat of severe thunderstorms to take the chequered flag in Grand Valley Speedway!!! Its the first victory for Vicarious and they did it with quite a healthy margin too!!
In both second and third place is racefan88501 with his DB9 and his M3 in third position giving us an entirely new podium with no inclusion of Team BMW or GeorgeSpeed entrants for the first time this season!!
In fourth and fifth is AngelCreator with his R390 and GSX-R/4, followed by Danisfast, and his Toyota, and Lotus entries...
With Bigracer in 8th, he was the only submission by the formally dominant Team BMW who now look to be in a bit of trouble.
GeorgeSpeed are now nowhere to be seen. With George Morley's reitrment from this championship, its only remaining member, the previously high ranking live4speed, has, along with a previous championship leader DUNDA, failed to post a qualifying or race time for this round.
Jetboy's Jaguar car's run was cut short by extreme weather and receives the first DNF status!!!
Anglo-Nippon Racing have produced a truely dominant performance here, though thanks in no small part to the obvious lack of commitment from some of the other teams. Specifically the ones who didn't bother to compete.
The events taking place here slightly overshadowed by the recent unfolding events surrounding race time fabrications. However, taking nothing away from Jetboys who has been faster than even the older Championship leaders (when they were running times), and a thoroughly deserving winner of round 4 in his McLaren SLR.
Progression times can be posted here, but the times that you want to be counted MUST be PM'ed to me and I will include this into the race rules.

Best of luck to all who take part,
Danisfast

I take it you didn't mean to post this thread 3 times? I've removed the other 2 for you.

first qual time from me for ss5: 1'16"165 - maybe not too fair since i took the hongkong week to practice round 3 and 4.
this one i owe to myself since i sort of figured out the settings myself, after learning a lot about setting up the csl from good old dunda. thanks for that joe!
the track is great, not a city track at all since it is wide enough and allows you to do most corners at fair speed. trick is to only just avoid the rumbles just like in the real city tracks.
i have been spreading the word about this very nice tourney to others so as to gain some flesh on the bones - dono if it worked but nobody can say i haven't tried.
have fun at ss5. i don't know where it's supposed to be situated irl, so if anybody knows ...

Nice improvement from your 1'19, BigRacer. :)👍

My New Weapon spouts off a 1'15.450 and the Deadly Jag tosses a 1'14.868.

Good luck to all this week ,
Jetboy

well that's a great time for a car that weighs so much and still has a 2.3 ptw. i guess it's got a lot more power then?

Car #0: Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren -DB- Jetboys427 (15019kg, 657bhp, ptw 2.300)

must be like around 6.530hp. i wonder how big your cylinders are, and what should your turbo pressure be? never knew there were cars with such a big power band. and I thought the tank car had a big engine.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :)

ps thanks for the compliment jetboys!
maybe pm me your details so we can make more compliments over msn

*looks* What the...?! That should be 1510kg's! Damn typos to hell, anyway...

Badass at work. ;)

lol yeah yeah alright!! I'll sort it...
Thanks for sorting out the threads Daan. Yeah I didn't mean to make three!!
My times thus far in my Supra are low 1 min 15 secs. Looking good. Hope to get some faster times in by tonight.
Danisfast.

I'm in the 1'14's at the momoent, this car loves the track except for the first corner, it hates sudden elevation changes with a passion, I'll have to be careful I don't spin there in the race.

well then brake early, keep the gas a bit on, try to find the highest exit speed using as much of the track as you can.

1'14's? nice. Still got a few days to go as well. As soon as I've finished updating the championship tables, I'll get back to trying to break the 1'15 barrier...
Check the championship tables in about half an hour, it should be updated by then,
Thanks,
Danisfast

Yep I am, I'll be slower in the race though because going all out on that corner is a bit touch and go, I tried a softer setup but that slowed me down in the rest of the track. But this car is absolutely caning it, I've just hit the 1'13's. I'm happy with my times, but believe me it's mostly the car.

Yeah just have, it's damn close, 1 point.

I'm done qualifying for today now though, I'll see if I can fit another attempt in tomorrow, if not then I'm happy with my current best time anyway.

OK, thanks for checking in.
Think I'll head off and get some more times in before I go to bed.
All the best guys,
Danisfast

Day2:
im runing steady mid 1'15's im my BMW M3 CSL ive done over 400km of testing/qualifyibng and just set my best time into the low 1'15's in of qualifying so i look to continue and become alot faster by race time after about another 200km of practice and hot laps im down into the mid 1' 14's i shall contiune practice and hope to break the 1'13's tomorrow then just ork on race setup

Bloody hell, the tables are nice and tight! Excellent series here, Dan and DUNDA!!!!

I'm in the 1'13s aswell and I am also having trouble through turn 1, the trouble for me through turn 1 is too much oversteer, its a catch 22 really, if I go with oversteer it will be dicey through turn 1 but if I go with understeer I get a slow lap time, so oversteer will be my qually setup and depending on how fast everyone is, understeer might be my race setup :sly:

I have a very stable setup its just my driving lines need a little work once i do that i should be at least in the low 1'14's

Well it took nothing at all to fix the problem really, once I thought about it :D 5 clicks off the front wing and i'm blasting through turn 1 at full throttle

I really pity you guys with Mid-engine configurations... That first switch-back coming off top speeds such as 175-185 mph and then the elevation change; disaster. Good luck keeping a consistant run this week. I especially sympathize with live4speed and his R390 entrant. I know very well that if you trust the prodigious car's excellent handling too much, you often find yourself facing the direction you once came. :ouch:

So, that being said, I'm glad I have my stable FR's. :D

Merc-Benz SLR: 1'13.5xx
Jaguar XK-R: 1'13.2xx

Could you guys give my a idea for one more car, my Suzuki is not as fast as I thought:(.

I can just see how impatient you guys were, lol.

Well i see im not the only one having trouble on turn one. My csl can really hammer the first bend, but my m5 is guarenteed to spin out.

heres some of my times
m3csl: 1:13.2xx
m5: 1:13.0xx (that first bend is really slowing this car down)

I'm struggling here, at one point, I was thinking of changing cars to a Renault Clio Phase II.

TVR 350C - 1'14.424

I was going to change to a Renault Clio until :

Renault Clio Phase II - 1'19.145

The problem is, I normally set the gears short on city tracks, but SSR5 has a long straight, I max out at 170 Mph, which is'nt bad, but I can't control it fast enough through the rest of the track.

Aston Martin DB9 - 1'14.425
BMW M3 CSL - 1'12.839

qualifying times done for this week... and coz i dislike this weeks WRS so much i shall give the actual race a bit more time, this time around...

Nice time Shockwave 👍

I am also looking for a new "weapon" to use to run along side my main entry (the NSX) Think i'll go for something with a lil more power so I dont look so slow when we get to the Test Coarse :D

AngelCreator
Could you guys give my a idea for one more car, my Suzuki is not as fast as I thought.
How about the Mazda Rx 7, I got it to do a 1'14.0xx on SS5, it didnt take that long to get it there, you could probably make it go a bit faster, or how about the Spyker C8 Leviolette, I only did like two laps with it, but it felt every bit as fast as the NSX i'm using, if not faster.

I think this race will be the closest yet.

AngelCreator,
A nice FR car would be good here, I just got into my Supra last night and my times are just as fast as everyone elses. So if I can do it in an FR car, there must be something about it!!!!! Also, after this, we've got Grand Valley, which also has alot of elevation changes...
PS, Can't say I'm having the same problems as you guys on turn 1, its just my racing line on the rest of the track...
Danisfast

I have to hold off on breaking until I'm entering the tunnel, if I brake before the dip I go too slow through the tunnel, if I brake on the dip my car just losse all stability and spins, if I brake as I enter the tunel the back end kicks out a bit but it's controlable, and then I'm flat out all the way through.

Yeah thats what I'm doin' with my V8 Esprit. I dont turn and brake. just hold it until I wipe off most of the speed.

I can brake really late with my csl without loosing and stability or traction, but with my m5 i have to drop a gear on the straight, but then i can brake late on the left hander with the kicking out a little.

BTW, the time i posted above with my m5, was done with some dirty oil, i think it was about 40hp, so you can expect much more from the m5
