Right well this blows, i dont think Sony made is that clear to everyone that mearly this update only supports the feature to be enabled on the console and it's up to the game developers to include the In Game Custom Soundtrack, Looks like if Polyphony already have schedueled and update for this after the update has been released this morning then we are gunna have to wait for music, This really irritates me how this whole in game music thing wasnt here from that start of the PS3's life cycle but im happy as long as we get a patch for the Trophies as well as the music but i dont know how they will incorporate the Trophy system in GT5P they might save the whole concept for GT5 since the ranks are not link ID's to your games progress like Burnout and Warhawk are gunna be, Whats your speculation on all of this?

PD can always do an update and fix this. That's the beauty of the PS3 and it's games; many things can be fixed with a simple update or patch. Patience is key.

Nice run on, by the way. I'm impressed.

And i just spent a couple of hours transferring about 4 Gig of music to PS3 :grumpy:

actualy they made it quite clear they put out 2 videos about this update stating that some games would need to be patched for ingame music and trophies. the movies where on the playstation blog. :sly:

I would like the trophies, but I couldn't care less about ingame music, I have music turned off anyway, it distracts too much from engine sounds (both from yourself and other drivers).

I have also read that the trophies are not retrospective - whatever that actually means on a PS3. It implies that if GT5P had trophy support in a future update then you would need to redo the game, but then could you start a new game and then copy your old save over it ?

It stated on IGN, for example, that trophies would not be awarded for things already achieved. So, if GT5P awarded a bronze trophy for getting your S-class license, you would only get it at the moment you passed, it wouldn't look at your game save and award it for what you had already done. I believe the idea is to prevent people sharing game saves to get trophies they didn't win.

As for the music; it was posted that it wouldn't be available until individual games enabled it. I assume this is to prevent it from clashing with in game sounds.

Playing "your" music from inside a game has always been possible on the PS3, it's just that the developers chose not to do it. Perhaps they didn't think it was important, or perhaps they were waiting for Sony to provide a standard API as they have now done.

Speaking of XMB; i found a list of some games that do have it (haha I loaded GT5:P ASAP to find it didn't work so I searched around a bit):

These are games i(not me"LordJWC") have Tested myself and have confirmed that ingame xmb has been used online

Battlefield Badcompany- Yes works online and in game

Call of Duty 4- Yes works online and in game

Metal Gear Solid- does not work online

Guitar Hero 3- Works online buy why would you use it? lol

Oblivion- Works

Assasins Creed- Works

Fear- Works no one plays that anymore

Soldier of Fortune- Works ingame and online servers are dead though

GTAIV- works online and ingame

SKATE- works and online

Warhawk- Works online

UT3- Works ingame and in online

The orange box- have not confirmed yet

(back to me) I'm positive PD is not unawares of this and will activate/patch it with all haste by next update. I'm Curious - why would these games already have the feature available yet not the rest? I mean, if Sony was going to do this from the start then I'm sure their developers would have known, yes? BTW, out of all those games, how many different developers are their among them(just thought of that)? Is there some corrolation?

The trophies for Burnout Paradise will be "retrospective"

GT5:P's ingame XMB does work...I tried is as soon as I installed 2.40. The only thing that doesn't work is the custom soundtracks.

The trophies for Burnout Paradise will be "retrospective"
And will also be one of the few games to have retrospective trophies, due to the fact that Paradise supposedly stores user profiles server-side and are binded to a single PSN account.

XMB in GT5p just works fine for me :p

On another note isn't it obvious they will patch the game for voice chat & friend invites via XMB? Same for custom soundtrack ( just who wants music in a game like GT5p ??)
Seriously how should PD implement these essential features anyhow not via IGXMB - its all there now, only needs a little patch! 👍

RSV2 doesn't have in game music (at least off line) i threw myself onto a nade and lost 100 xp because of it. 👎

Wha? Can you explain how to do this please?

Whats so difficult about it? Press PS button select friends, press X, write message. LOL you can also write a message if you leading the pack by 15sec... like cmon, you can do it! difficult? nah, but actually this is it ;)

If I had to guess I would say that Polyphony is including this in the upcoming update as they are part of Sony and most likely knew this was coming before now. But I am just guessing.

This really irritates me how this whole in game music thing wasnt here from that start of the PS3's life cycle but im happy as long as we get a patch for the Trophies as well as the music
Yeah, how dare they try to work with developers to make the system more friendly for them! I mean, it was only available for developers to make custom music a part of the game from day one. [/sarcasm]

Yeah, trophies seem like a very foreign concept to the GT series....

I am guessing the PSN trophies will be things like all bronzes in all events, all silver, all golds, 25% complete, 50% complete, 100% complete, etc. The kind of stuff that gave us free cars (or unlocked access to some) in the past.

They may even add stuff like, race 100 races on line. I can see a lot of opportunities.

Nice run on, by the way. I'm impressed.
I was thinking the same thing. It would take effort for me to do that.

And i just spent a couple of hours transferring about 4 Gig of music to PS3 :grumpy:
I hope most of that was sorting your music to find what you wanted. Copying from external sources or over a network moves much faster than that. I know I can copy my entire 2GB USB thumb drive in a matter of minutes.

Sorry guys I had no idea IGXMB existed unitl I found that link.
Wow, dude. It has been rumored since at least March and confirmed for most of June.

I suggest venturing out of just the Gran Turismo forums and check out the Playstation 3 forums on this very site. You will find we have tons of information and news regarding your favorite console. And if you have those other consoles we discuss those too.

Are you able to use bluetooth yet during gt5p? Like a private conversation between friends while racing?
No, there is no voice-chat capabilities in the XMB during games. It is still only in games that provide it, which means we will likely get it as an option in the GT5P update later this year before Sony adds it to the firmware update.

does GT5P support the trophies?
Not yet. It has to be updated to do so.

Check out this thread for a full list of games that support them right now.

I try to pretend like I have a life ;) (not a attempt at slagging you)

Pretend all you like. We know the truth. :sly:
Sorry, couldn't help it.

And I don't take offense to that. I treat gaming and similar stuff like a hobby. So I spend time scouring places for news and whatnot.

But I am serious. If you pay attention to news regarding the PS3 you may find that it can do a lot more than just play Games and Blu-Rays.

Music doesn't work on GTA IV

Well, as Sony has said and many people in the PS3 Subsection area have said, no games apart from Superstar Dust and others which already supported it will feature the use of in-game music being able to be played due to the 2.40 update. Sony have said that they have given the option to allow Game Developers to use the code to allow ingame music to work. It is up to the developers, as some people may have seen Criterion Games is one of those companies who have said yes to use the code and therefore a large updae including custom soundtracks is being released on July 10th. We will not see all games immediately support ingame music, and if we did it may ruin the experience for some games such as CoD4.

I was thinking today whilst at school, I think the main games which will feature custom soundtracks (once updated of course) will be games which already have music that is made by several different artists. As an example, Burnout Paradise has a few songs which were created by Criterion however the majority are songs which have been paid for via a license to use in the game. So hopefully, games like GT5P, Burnout Paradise (Although this has been confirmed) and games like NFS: PS and hopefully many more will support this feature.
