Wow! What got up your ass, I was submitting my view on how i feel of the situation no reason to slag me off.
Sorry, I was in a sarcastic mood this morning, and you seemed to be making accusations based on false information, so it set me off.

Hopefully me bringing this news will make you feel better:
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/uncharted-and-every-game-getting-ps3-trophies/

PSN director of operations, Eric Lampel, has confirmed that Naughty Dog's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will receive a Trophy update "at some point in the foreseeable future." In fact, Lampel told GameSpy, "Ultimately, we'll have trophies for every game." But ultimately is without a deadline currently, suggesting Trophy patches will be trickling out for the, um, foreseeable future.

Still, we imagine Sony is leaning on certain studios to allocate resources to Trophy building asap. Certainly there's a greater demand for Trophy support in Uncharted than in, let's say, Genji: Days of the Blade. Then again, an actual, historically accurate award for sticking the giant crab's weak point might be reason enough to procure Genji from a dusty bargain bin and suffer through the ill-fated launch title. Massive Damage Trophy? We so want that one.
I can't imagine they would do this for Prologue without giving us the soundtrack option too.

So, it's coming, and I am guessing that it might be part of the big update, if not sooner.

I would like the trophies, but I couldn't care less about ingame music, I have music turned off anyway, it distracts too much from engine sounds (both from yourself and other drivers).

Ditto. GT games have always had crappy music anyway.

i have downloaded a cd to my ps3 but cant seem to play it ingame. Do i have to download it from a mp3 player? and if so, can I, and how do i transfer music from a Zune?

Will we be able to stream music (either via media server or USB drive) for custom soundtracks or is it relegated to music stored on the HDD?

Currently only music stored on the HDD is accessible in games that support this feature. We’d also like to reiterate that Firmware v2.40 merely enables custom soundtracks. It’s up to developers to include this feature in upcoming games (or to patch existing ones).

This may have already been answered - I can't try it because I'm at work - can you change any console settings mid-game i.e. sound output from hdmi to optical and do they take immediate effect?

Can we go to the display settings and change anything there in-game (resolution, input, etc)?

No, you must exit the game before changing these settings.

Will it be possible to change in-game the sound output?

Yes, sound output changes are supported.

Anyway here is the link to the FAQ

I hope most of that was sorting your music to find what you wanted. Copying from external sources or over a network moves much faster than that. I know I can copy my entire 2GB USB thumb drive in a matter of minutes.

Yes it was once it was on my USB drive as you said it only took a matter minutes. 👍

Damage your PS3 so much that all you have to do to fix everything is simply format your hard drive and then you're good to go? That's absurd! Sony should be ashamed.

Can't wait for the firmware to be re-released, and then for GT5P to get patched for in-game music. :D

And not everyone is nerdy enough to hook up a 2.5 inch disk to a PC that usually has 3.5 disk connections.

(off course the eassiest way is to put in a external 2.5 inch case with a USB/FW connection)

2.40 worked fine on my ps3 with one exception, before the update i had GT5P installed on my HD, and some old game demos downloaded. after the update all that stuff was removed and i have to put the disk in to play GT5P. it doesnt even give me the option to install GT5P. odd.

Games have to be patched.

As for transferring your music from a Zune to your PS3: I don't know if you can.

1) The PS3 would need to be able to read the Zune as an external drive. I don't know if it can. I don't have one. If it can't you should be able to copy them to your PC somehow and copy them using a USB drive or memory card.

2) I don't know what kind of security settings the music files have. They may not work on your PS3.

This is all assuming that they are MP3, AAC, or WMA.

A USB thumb drive should do it. Game saves aren't that big.

Don't you always need the disc to play GT5P?

i didnt before the 2.40 update, the GT5P just showed up in my XMB games menu after install and i could play it no matter what disk was in the ps3. now GT5P does not show up and aparently does not install, it only runs from disk, before when i played the HD light flickered during every load, now, on 2.40 it seems to be reading the game from the blu-ray disk.

thx for the info, i know that my ps3 charges my zune, but i wasnt sure if i had to do something special for it to transfer songs.

Amazing, I was just checking this thread for the music thing and I'm surprised about what I'm reading... the Playstation 3 installs corrupt data??

I though that when the Playstation 3 downloads those updates, they are scanned through a CRC code or so to see if they're corrupt or not, you know.. like the SFV thing. But as I see that was only on my imagination and there's people that have a Playstation 3 that installed a corrupt update and now are just without their Playstation 3 able to boot properly??

My Playstation 3 has always needed the Bluray in order to play the game.. even with GT5P or MGS4 installed, in fact I didn't have the option to install ir ot not.. just both games needed and install. Are not the same on your situations?

The problem is that a PS3 with the corrupt 2.40 firmware doesn't boot all the way so you can't make any back-ups with your PS3..
Well maybe people should backup their saves before updating their firmware.

are you sure? did you ever try just clicking on the GT5P icon in the XMB with out the disk in or did you always just insert the disc and let it auto start? i have auto start disabled and my wife has been replaying through Kingdom Hearts 2 and even with it in the drive i could load GT5P and play it, until the 2.40 update.

Um, I don't have a GT5P icon in the XMB unless my disc is in the drive.

i dont now that i have the 2.40 update, but i did on the previous firmware. i really didnt think anything about it since u can buy the game online i just figured the disk purchase was for people who liked having a hard copy just in case. i will try my impport copy when i get home, it was another one of the icons that disapeared when i got the 2.4 update, and i didnt have to have the disk in to play it iether.

just out of curiosity what model ps3 do you guys have?

I'm using am NTSC 60GB w/ hardware BC.

Did you have a downloaded copy of GT5P at any time?

European model, just coming up to it's first Birthday. It almost seems like you had a download version and a disk version!

ive never had the download version. also i could play it with out being signed on to the PSN. i have one of the original NTSC 60GB models with a 120GB drive stuck in it.

actually even my demos of moto-storm and stuff like that that i had downloaded when the PS3 first came out were gone after the 2.40 update. the ONLY thing that still shows up in the XMB is the echochrome demo i downloaded the day before the 2.40 update.

It sounds like you had a similar hard drive corruption issue that others had, only it didn't cripple your system.

Check to see if you have more free space on your hard drive now. If not then you may need to reformat your hard drive, because it means you have files that can't be seen taking up space on the hard drive.

As for why none of your disc-based games required teh disc in your system, I have no clue. But GT5P on disc does not require a PSN connection, because it does not have to verify user account info for copyright purposes. That is why it requires the disc.

wait, so if an installed game is not spose to show up in the XMB games list, how do i tell what games i have installed? like arent there other games that ask you to atleast do partial HD installs?

and is there a way to perform uninstalls of games then?

(im actually a bit new to the PS3, i hav had it for a while but its gotten used more as a PS2 until GT5P came out. and even now we are knee deep in a home remodel so i havent really had the time to be on it.)

also i dont know anyone else locally with a ps3 so i just assumed that the GT5P install and running with out the disk was because, technically, it was just a demo game.
