2 Player Mode?

Will there still be a 2 player mode, I have heard a couple rumors that there won't be

of course there will be a two player mode, and i dont know the up to date info about the online rumors, which would rule... but 2 player split screen and ilink cable will mos def be in

If there wasn't a 2 player split screen mode it would annoy a hell of a lot of people. Especially since they've practically got the code already (from GT3). 2 player mode would be a lot easier to program than an online mode

Did anyone ever experience a sort of drop in the visuals in split screen in GT3? not the actual graphics necessarily but you couldnt see the corners coming up clearly as in you couldnt see things in the distance coming up easily. I hope they fix their veiw angles and distance filters, gran turismo 3 in 1st player mode also had this problem but not as bad as in 2 player, maybe it was just me but i found this a big problem untill of course you learnt the exact layout of the tracks. It did degrade the 2 palayer mode though, my mates always said i had an advantage case they couldnt see the corners and i knew were they are. I think this was because they reduced the feild of vision so that there wasnt any POP-UPs, although this still marginally occured.

PS. has anyone here played GT3 on a 100hz tele? does it make a significant difference?

To answer the last question, yes, no.

The 2-player mode in GT3 is the worst one of the three games so far. They cluttered up the screen far too much with extraneous information - and when split times came up on screen you were BONED.

PS. has anyone here played GT3 on a 100hz tele? does it make a significant difference?

100hz has a significant effect on any thing viewed through the Tv, PS2, DVD, Video, Digital Satelite, Even Anologue TV, but the secret is how its set up.

I have A 50 hz 28inch tv as my main gaming TV and a 32inch 100hz Main Home entertainment TV, which i Connect to when ever possible there is no comparison!

The 100hz scanning has the effect of everything looks much Much, much sharper, colours are more crisper and clearer, there is much less colour bleed or blending, and of course everything is much smoother looking, meaning less strain for your eyes.

Dont be using any RF connectors / or the split S video Scart conversion lead supplied by Sony.
to get the best out of 100hz it makes sense only to connect through the Number One Scart socket with a quality Shielded
Scart Lead, as on most Tvs the number 1 scart is the only true RGB scart socket, additional scarts sockets are usuallyS-video quality and there is a noticable difference in picture quality.
The difference is that the improvement in picture quality in the S-video Scart sockets is halved over that of a 50hz TV.

Always use good quality leads for all Audio/ Visual connections to help prevent bleed over interference.
And if you are connecting Multiple Video Sources Get A descent switcher and only connect through Scart 1.

Good to see it isnt just me and my crappy TV, thanx for the info on the 100hz tv, i was considering buying one but wasnt sure if the quality was actually noticeably different.

There is a vissible difference, and it's most visible in white color and in letters - the white is brighter on 100 Hz and edges of letters are smoother.

I have PS2 connencted via Sony's PS2 RGB cable to an RGB socket of an 32" widescreen 100Hz Sony set - and everything works great except the minor flickering i have in red color channel which I can't solve. I think that's occuring because the 16:9 aspect haven't been done properlly for both NTSC and PAL versions of the game. The same is happening in GT Concept, so I think that's up to graphic coding.

If you have an option to buy an 100Hz set do so because you'll be happier person.

Actually I doubt that GT4 will have iLink support. You may not know this, but Sony is releasing a new model of the PS2 (50001 I believe) which will not have the iLink port, but will be able to read DVD-R/RW, support progressive scan for DVD playback, and have an infared port for a DVD remote. Online mode will be in GT4, since it was promised so long ago.

amar212, when you say flickering in the red do you mean it sort of bleeds? it doesnt provide as crisp edges as other colours? i hd the same problem, i had to change the colour settings on the tv to correct it, its ok now but ive had to reduce the colour vibrance a tad. Definetely looking for a 100hz TV now, ready for GT4 2player!

i think taking out ilink would be good. it was just a hasstle. they could replace it with a LAN version anyways. but i guess they chould have both, but id for sure support the LAN connection more than the ilink one.

You are talking about the th PSX. Sony dropped i-link(IEEE-1394) all around because it couldn't handle the new HDCP copy protection code, and High-def video. No, the PSX wont do HD, but other devices Sony makes are, so no more i-link. They use USB2 now, after dropping DVI a few months ago.

Progressive output is not necessary on most TVs that can do HD. They already have a progressive scaler built in anyway, so it's not needed.

EDIT: A deinterlacer is the device that converts 480i into 480p, not a scaler. A scaler converts 720p to 1080i, which most HDTVs do. Sorry for the confusion.

Hugh? What?? Split screen mode in GT3?? I didnt know that??!! Is that on all versions of the game including asia/euro??
How do you start a split screen game? I havent been playing for that long.

Do you have to run an arcade game or something? I never seen it before. I knew that you could use the ilink to set up a 2 player game, but you need 2 consoles.

Please explain.

No, actually I'm not talking about the PSX, but a new model of the PS2, remember how earlier models of PS1, had a I/O Parallel Port, but then they were removed later? Same thing here. Like I said it's the PS2, not PSX. They dropped because almost no one uses it.

So, what model is the PSX then? What is the difference? The PSX has a 120GB hard drive and a TV tuner, so the MCH-5000 doesn't? I'm starting to get confused.

It seems weird that Sony would make two different model PS2s with simular features, but then again it's Sony.

I never said that the iLink is supposed to connect to your HDTV.
Anyways the PSX and the PS2 are 2 DIFFERENT things.

The PSX is an all-in-one box, which can function as a DVD-burner, TIVO (can record tv on to hard drive), and play PS one/PS2 games. There are 2 versions of PSX: 1 with a 150GB hard drive, and another with a 250GB hard drive. Also the PSX is ONLY COMING OUT IN JAPAN (for the time being).

The new PS2 is basically the same thing as the old PS2 which we all have, except it DOESN'T have an iLink port, supports progressive scan DVD playback, has an IR port for the DVD remote, and features a quieter fan. This model is coming to US; in fact it's probably out already.

It's not out yet, I don't know that it's going to be sold outside Japan either.
