I really like the new Williams, hopefully it's a decent package this year so Webber can get an opportunity to show if he has what it takes. I think their engine package is pretty good for this year, hopefully they can keep it up.

Great shots GTChamp, it's hard to choose which one to make my desktop.

Is there going to be a big difference in perfomance with these 2006 V8, less downforce cars, compared to previous seasons??? Maybe slower laptimes, lower topspeeds???

Well that depends.
On tracks wich have lots of tight corners like Monaco the difference will be minimal. The V8's may even be faster on that track since the tires for this season are softer and provide more grip as opposed to last years tires wich had to last an entire race. On tracks like Monza the laptimes will be about 3 seconds slower.

Renault next on Tuesday, i wouldnt really expect it to look much different from last years car. Except size maybe:p

Not only that, but over a race distance the mean weight of the cars will be less.

The 2.4 litre V8 engines and more fuel efficient that their 3.0 litre V10 cousins. So, they’ll use less fuel to get the same distance – so, the cars will be lighter. Also, pit stops will be shorter because less fuel will need to be put into the cars.

And don’t say they’ll take longer because they’ll have to change tyres, the fuel level has always been the deciding factor in the time of the stop, unless there was a mistake.

So, I won’t be suprised if they finish the 78 laps around Monaco quicker than they did in 2005, even though the fastest lap time probably will not fall.

Why should Williams have red? They aren't with BMW anymore. Then again, they never did have red colour, even with BMW.

Anyway, i have some more hi-res photos for you guys.

Thanks to Imageshack for the outstanding free image hosting service.
Amazing shots. Where were you able to find such high-res F1 images? Such pictures have always seemed to elude me on the Internet...

So, maybe the overall race will have more laps. Some of them anyway. Stupid remak, I know!

I get them from F1-Live.com

I like how most of the new cars look, especially the Williams and the Bimmer. The Midland looks somewhat garish. The Ferraris, Toyotas and Hondas look plain. And the McLaren looks very orange. Not bad at all. Just really orange.

And like we've said before the orange is just for testing. The race version will be black and silver again I think.

Hmm...like I said before, in real life cars don't look half bad in that colour scheme, infact the one at the Donington museum probably looks better than it did in the black and silver livery. 👍

Michael Schumacher believes that Renault is currently leads the way in pre-season testing.

The world champion team impressed Schumacher with the speed and consistency of its new R26 during testing at Barcelona last week.

"Renault has shown itself to be very well prepared and I can say the same for Honda which is already showing fantastic performance after two days of testing," Schumacher was quoted as saying in Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Even BMW has developed an interesting car.

"But above all is the Renault which, with its times and its constant presence on the track, has confirmed their level of preparation.

"It’s very strong and very fast and looks ready to race."

Basically having said nothing about McLaren is that they are going to have a lot of cars going kaboom this year.

some of you might not like all the aero bits sticking out of the cars, but i think they look great :D very agressive.......makes me think of the Su-30SMK (look here)and Su-34 (and here fighters.....

im really looking foward to the first race

I thought they weren't allowed to use the aero bits anymore due to the new aerodynamic rules.

Yeah, they are. I think they will be using that engine for this season aswell and not just testing.

Anyway, i've got some photos comming up later today of the Renault R26 launch and factory fotos of the car itself and they are all in very high resolution, 4000x2500. Right now i'm looking for an image host that allows images over 1MB.

Here's a sample:

I had to lower the quality a bit to get it under 1MB.

Here are the photos of the pre-presentation event in Monaco. The R26 photos will have to wait till tomorrow as the uploading process takes longer than expected.

GTC.

Each year when new F1 cars come out I can't help but wonder in how much slices would a track steward be cut if he was to be hit by one.

:scared:

Carl.

Hmm, I dunno if they'd get cut or if they'd just get shot up into the air just like what happened in Kyalami back in 1977.

So, the rumors that said Alonso wouldn't get a competitive car because of his new contract with McLaren aren't THAT true, huh? :D :D

PS: I'm happy with that. Go Alonso!!

All in a days work for Renault...

New car looks good, and fast.

Now that is the kind of resolution I am talking about. When you are running 1680 x 1050 resolution on your computer it makes finding images for wallpapers somewhat hard. Most images look small on my computer. Now this kind of resolution is freakin' sweet.
