Yeah, pretty classy. I don't know why no-one likes them. :(
I like 'em. Nice styling, and quite a bit of punch with the newer engine.

But especially cool is the supercharged 4.6 LS that Ford engineers took to One Lap of America. 430 hp.

the rear and the rear columns are shaped like a maxima, which is bleh...and those tail lights are a little loud.

the rest of the car is great though.

Over here they are Lincoln LS. Anywho they [LSs] are the ****.

Anyone else take note of the Skyline Coupe (read: G35C) in that? A 4.1L version of the VQ, with 325hp? Hot damn!

Yeah I dont know why its not the price the design or the interior? I wonder just wonder why?

Badge I guess. Everyone thinks Lincoln is for old people. Navigator's done a bit to correct that, but they haven't made a sporty 2-door car in 12 years, and maybe more depending on how you look at it.

Yeah I think it might have to do with the companys repution with old people. THe Nacigator pretty nice but the Avatior really nice interior! And a wide variety of interiors to choose from IMO. Hmm.. If Lincoln made a 2 door coupe I would have to say a LS V8 stock with and optional engine with maybe lets say a supercharger and more "beef"?

Lincoln probably should've gotten the Ford Thunderbird instead of Ford badged as the Lincoln Mark IX.

The current-gen Thunderbird is classified as a "sporty 2-door car" in you book, M5? :odd: More of a boulevard cruiser than corner carver. If the styling was right, it would have made a good Mark 9, I agree.

Yeah the new thunderbird IMO is kinda alright. Things I like about it and things I dont. Would you happen to know how many have been sold? And if the sales are getting good or worse? I think Ford this year in general is gonna do good! Almost of them 2005 Mustangs are sold out! The Ford GT is being sold on ebay for over 275000 and each with over 20 bidders! I have seen at least 10 Ford GT's on ebay sell like hot cakes! I have a feeling Ford is gonna have a great year this year.

The Thunderbird was a tremendous flop. Well, maybe not tremendous, but a flop nonetheless.

It was slow(ish) and the frame was flexy. And the styling was overdone.

I do agree it was a flop but it isnt really that bad if youve ever seen one or sat in one.

Sales are awful - it's almost a sure thing the Thunderbird will be cancelled after either 2005 or 2006.

The only retro car that anyone has made so far, that is the best IMO, is the new mustang. But the retro thing is getting old and they need to start thinking of original ideas. It's like they are making an excuse.

@Blackbird the new mustang is selling really good!
Sales are good; it is selling really well.

The question with the Mustang--and this goes for every other retro car--is can it keep up these sales once the novelty has worn off?

I'd say yes in the case of the Mustang, since the car underneath that styling is exceptional--so once it is done selling on novelty, it can sell on it's real virtues.

No it won't wear off. There will be all those specialty models such as the Cobra, or the Saleen, or the Roush. Those will keep it selling.;)

Agree - PT Cruiser sells still because it's a pretty practical package, Mustang will sell because it's a great car, Mini will sell because it's a handling dream for the price. Thunderbird won't sell because it's expensive and dynamically underachieving, New Beetle won't sell (or continue to sell) because it's a piece of trash.

Isnt the Thunderbird heavy for its class also?

It isn't really in a class - the $40000 2-seat convertible class is usually reserved for stuff like the BMW Z4, but the Thunderbird doesn't hold a candle to that sort of vehicle.

The really ironic thing is that the styling wasn't the only retro thing about the T-bird. The whole idea of a big, comfortable, expensive convertible Ford "flagship" that was so sucessful for Ford when the T-bird was first realesed (back in the early 60's or whenever) proved to be a total flop in today's market. They should have stuck with the premise behind the MN12 and Fox birds--a kind of fullsize 4-seater musclecar/cruiser.

How could Ford forget that T-bird sales almost doubled when they added a back seat?
