Some good dicing, but not much of a race at the front. Everything was a replay, this time around. Alonso just drove away from the start. Hamilton makes brave moves right at the start, which is a lot like what Alonso was doing the past 3-4 years.
Engine penalties are officially pointless. They do
nothing to control costs, since that was what the FIA was intending; it just meant that Raikkonen couldn't push until the end of the race, since he thought the motor might overheat. Bah!
Honda and Toyota are in sheep dip; they might as well be customer car and engine providers. Oh wait, Soichiro's team is...
You'd figure Scott Speed has had one year to get used to the tracks, and he'd be faster and more confident, right?
(Sauber-)BMW looks like the team to beat...when that one race this arrives when Ferrari and McLaren manage to retire all their cars or leave their playbook at home. Of course, reliability issues need fixin' on thier end. I like the massive Q-tip they use to signal their driver in the pits, though.
It's also the first time I used my VCR to record a race in about 8 years. Damn, its so user-unfriendly compared to our whiz-bang technology of today. But it makes 2-hour races go by faster, and it doesn't suggest lousy programming to me!
