The winner of this fight will be facing off with the winner of the GT-R vs R8 thread in Kansas City... Lets get it on!

Voted for the 500, as the DB9 is oh so uninspiring...... and that the 500 does look 100x better and more than 100x cheaper as well! :D

I voted for the FIAT for most of the same reasons as to why I chose it over the DB9. The cheap price, shocking good looks, and otherwise impressive fit/features/dynamics combo makes it the better deal, and a far better car for this time that we are in right now.

Viva la 500!

Wow, will this be tough. Both are such different vehicles, but both cars excel in their segments. Hmm...

DB9 and Fiat 500 in the semis, disappointing. Well I voted the DB9, and $5 to the first person who says the 500 is probably more fun to drive.:p (Psst, not possible)

Voted the 500, out of the two it makes more sense as the best all around car.

Voted for the 500. When I see one I still go "hmm, nice". I don't even look at Astons as they pass any more. And... I suspect the 500 is more fun to drive :sly: (Awaits $5...)

Oh, and I love how the Aston has more votes, despite the majority of posters saying they'd vote for the 500. Shows how many lurkers there are :p

Pay up, nd :D

Having driven neither, I'm not qualified to comment on how much fun they are to drive compared to one another (though small, European, FWD hatchbacks tend to be actually "fun" while large, European, RWD GT cars tend to be more capable and faster - if we wish to push on how much "fun" the DB9 is, drag Venari in). But I've seen more FIAT 500s since they were launched 27s ago than I've ever seen DB9s since they were launched 4 eons ago... The DB9 has lost none of its "wow" factor.

Aston.

If the FIAT 500 really is £1,200 new, I'll take one now. Red, please.

I aint payin' nuthin'.:p
It was just a trick to make someone say it, sounds ludicrous if you ask me, a city car being more fun than a V12 GT car with well over 300kw.:)

You can thrash a 500 around at its limits without bothering the speed limits too much. It's much harder to do that in the DB9.

Maybe I want to worry about speed limits, maybe I want to put in some driver skill to extract some fun........or maybe if I could afford a DB9 OR Fiat 500 for that matter I can afford to go to a race track.;)

skill? with DB9 all you need to do is floor throttle in the corner. with Fiat 500 you actually have to do a lot of things, earn the fun.

Why can't you accept a small, FWD car is good? Not everything has to have a giant engine with the power to the rear wheels.

I can accept a small car is good, but a 500 more fun than a DB9?

What Famine said...why? A small light car with a tight suspension will be fun. The 500 is basically a slightly better packaged MINI and it's immensely fun. I have to imagine the 500 is more fun to drive around.

Why would it be is more the question.

Not at all. There is no reason for either of us to suppose that any car we haven't driven is more or less fun to drive than any other car we haven't driven. I can't think of a single basis why I might suggest that the 500 is more fun than the DB9, or less fun.

Why are you suggesting that the 500 is less fun than the DB9? What reasoning lies behind it?

Are you honestly trying to tell me that you think the DB9 will handle like crap for its size? The DB9 will still handle damn awesome, maybe even better in some circumstances, not to mention the sheer speed the thing has over the 500.

Edit: That was aimed at Joey

Famine- I imagine the Fiat 500 to be roughly in the same league as a Fiesta, where the DB9 to be in a league well above a V8 Commodore. Now if I had 20 X more fun in the V8 Commodore than the Fiesta, what chance does a 500 have against a DB9?

nd - can you tell me why this:

I see no reference to either the DB9 or handling in Joey's post.

The FIAT 500 isn't a Fiesta though. The DB9 isn't a Commodore. You've driven neither. I have driven neither. From what position can either of us say that one IS more fun than the other?

I see no reference to either the DB9 or handling in Joey's post.

He is saying that the 500 will be more fun because it's small, light, with a tight suspension (i.e. contributors to good handling), so that means the DB9 handles worse than a 500 as he is implying it is less fun, with handling being the basis.

Come on, it's like asking what will taste better between horse droppings and an authentic Italian pizza, I have tried neither, yet I know the Pizza will be the better one, it's just that obvious.

Handling does not equate to fun. Joey mentioned nothing about the DB9 anywhere in his post. "The FIAT 500 will be fun to drive" does not imply "The DB9 handles like crap". It's this jumping to conclusions which has got you into arguments before.

What an analogy... Are horse-droppings now a budget item of food eaten by people as a fashion item (a criticism levelled at the 500)?

You have absolutely no basis on which to criticise - or laud - the "fun" factor of either car. Neither do I. Saying that one IS more fun than the other is nothing more than hopefulness.
