It's Brad... He HAS to nominate the Corvette or he will be banned from GTP for not being "That Corvette Guy" Every GTP needs one...
👍I don't want the GT-R to win because I think there are far better cars from Japan that are more meaningful then some halo vehicle. The S2000, while I didn't vote for it, is a very good example of a sports car that has very good performance and a resonable price.
I understand your point. But about stirring something up, it was definitely not me who began talking about fanboys in this thread. If anything, it is you who is attempting a fanboy stir-up here.
It was my intention to not have this be yet another "lets compare the Corvette to the GT-R" thread. If anything, the high number of votes for the GT-R symbolize how popular the car is, and generally speaking, show that it will have a very good chance of doing well in the final competition. I meant absolutely nothing other than to share my surprise with how far the car had jumped out ahead of everyone else. Sorry if that caused a stir.
This is a bit of a survey post. Above I have quotes from every single post YSSMAN has made in this thread, and in every one of them he mentions the GT-R. Sometimes the people voting for it are said to be fanboys, and he very obviously wants to make it clear that he doesn't want it to win. Well, each to their own. Apparently one car shouldn't get significantly more votes than the others in his opinion.
Then he goes and nominates the Corvette for the best American car. Like it isn't going to walk the poll there.
Seriously, somebody tell me why the GT-R supporters are always the ones who are called fanboys and are always on the "wrong side" by default while the Corvette supporters are called car enthusiasts and are always on the "right side" by default. There must be some deeper logic to it that I simply don't get.
I'll take one more example. I was going to test this in the American thread when the voting begins but I can as well do it here. When someone says "the GT-R sucks because it's so heavy" there's a dozen people nodding and agreeing, it's a widely accepted fact. I agree partially, the car is too heavy but it certainly doesn't suck because of it as we've seen. Then when someone says "the Corvette sucks because it can't put the power down" there's a huge uproar, the person is shouted to the corner and the dozen people shove it down the sayer's throat that the Corvette handles like a true sports car should. Again I agree partially, it has trouble putting the power down but it certainly doesn't suck because of it as we've seen.
If there's anyone interested enough in replying to this, all I ask is to put the possible nationality bias to the side for a while and keep it civil. I don't want another flame war, just one good answer why the situation is as it is. If you're going to take the "usual" Corvette vs. GT-R style, please don't press the "Submit Reply" button. 👍
I understand your point. But about stirring something up, it was definitely not me who began talking about fanboys in this thread.
Why I brought it up is your wording according to which the huge lead of the GT-R is obviously due to a "fanboy landslide" and not the fact that it might just be the best car in the poll by a big margin. If the Corvette wins the American class it's because it's the best all round package in the poll and very few people are likely to doubt it. If the M3 wins the German class it's the same thing. Then if the GT-R wins the Japanese class, it's because the fanboys voted for it. And this is what irks me off, once again. It's also what I'd like to know the answer for, why is it like that?
When viewing these threads, one needs to suspend normal reasoning: none of the opinions in here are worth a damn, and therefore are not worth getting het up about. But it's interesting to see what those opinions are anyway.
I suppose on that basis the title "Favourite Car" would have been more accurate than "Best Car", given that choosing a best car is largely irrelevant without the unrealistic option of everyone driving the cars.
Because many have strong opinions against the GT-R, and the resultant GT-R thread has turned everyone into a complete cynic? Strictly speaking, YSSMAN was only putting into words what many people no doubt thought of, and he wasn't one of the people who did insult the GT-R in this thread. Then if the GT-R wins the Japanese class, it's because the fanboys voted for it. And this is what irks me off, once again. It's also what I'd like to know the answer for, why is it like that?
I'm highly surprised the new Evo X doesn't have more support. It will scare the wits off a performance Porsche around a twisty track, costs atleast a 1/3 less and has excellent economy for such a high-strung performance vehicle, and I am only mentioning the last-gen Evo. This time it is even better. It is, simply put, brilliant.
Still, GTR or Evo, GTR or Evo, GTR or Evo...
What's strange is the S2000 getting so many votes. Nothing new on that front, no innovation, nothing.
The Pontiac Aztek was very innovative when it came out. What's strange is the S2000 getting so many votes. Nothing new on that front, no innovation, nothing.
