Subaru has all but officially confirmed that the Alfa-esque grille is history.

The funny part is it is still so obviously the same body style as the previous one, but just only in wagon form now.

Is it really the same bodystyle? In that case the platform goes back to 1992!

it looks similar. The headlights and rear fenders/roof line.

I think it is probably the worst looking one yet. I rather like the older ones.

I don't really like the hatchback version, I really like the current sport wagon but this is just weird looking. But I guess I should reserve judgment till I actually see the thing when the unveil it in what 10 days?

If you looks at them long and hard, they are essentially the same. The new hatchback will probably give up and inch or so, but the current sport wagon is about as much of a wagon as the Mazda 3 is.

There's a lot of differing images on that page, but unfortunately none of them look good. The guillotine animation is appropriate. I'm a Subaru fan through and through, but the past 5 years have made it hard to enjoy looking at them.

If choping off the butt makes it faster than the bloated one-size-class-up lancer evo i'm all for the switch to a hatchback. They just better make it look good.
