According to the Timing & scoring, it retired because of mechaniocal failure

From the radio Le Mans coverage of the race, which was live,I heard that the ECO Racing Radical was having fuel mapping problems. The car doesn't use the Shell Disel that the Peugeot and the Audi use. They use a half production disel and some bio-disel I think. They were forced to use the Shell Disel so they had to change the fuel mapping, they were having problems with getting a good setup fot that, they still did a few laps though. And also, the Engine is based on the Volkswagen Touareg V10 twin turbo i think, and has been modified by of course AER.

Also, does anyone know if the ACEMCO Saleen S7-R sold? Because i heard from the Speed TV forum that Primetime Race Group (which is my favourite team:)) that they were solding their Viper, I was hoping/ wondering whom bought it and if it was bought by Primetime. If they did, it would mean some competition for Corvette Racing at Sebring in GT1.

Probably only in the aerodivision. The engine is said to be smaller, possibly even a 4.5l V8, but it will be very interesting indeed to see what this car is capable of!

It's probably safe to say Audi's domination this decade will continue. Now I don't believe in expectations, but you know what you're getting when you're talking Audi. As far as Audi vs. Peugeot, I just hope Peugeot doesn't have a "can't win the big one" mentality at races like Sebring or Petit Le Mans or (especially) Le Mans itself.

March is only three months away!

I wonder if it going to LMP2 since it is open topped and not closed like the P1s are.

Seeing as the Closed top rule hasn't been enforced and Audi has never shown interest for P2, its definately P1 bound.

Audi announced earlier today that they're pulling out of the ALMS for the '09 season. We'll be missing them, that's for sure. :(

Story courtesy of SPEEDTV.com

Unfortunately, Alot of others won't be feeling the same way. In fact, I see parties happening around the US because of this.

With the way the Porsche LMP2's run, they'll probably become the next "Audi" in the series, anyways. And if so, I'm positive VAG will still be happy.

Wait, so audi will make a new R15 for '09 just to quit in 09?

My head hurts just trying to make sense of it...

VAG already seems satisfied as Porsche's factory effort is also gone for 09.

They are gonna run it at Sebring and Le Mans. They are no longer running a Factory effort in 09 in the ALMS.

Gonna keep an eye on the entry lists for the races other than Sebring and Petit Le Mans then?:D

Of course, this is some compelling stuff:)

We're probably not going to see the Audi R15 until some major auto show. I remember seeing all the pictures of the Audi R15 design studies which look more like a combination of an Audi R8 (road car) and the current R10. I'm actually interested to see this. I've said that if it was up to me, either this R15 would be in ALMS action (which isn't going to happen except at Sebring) or the possibility of the Audi R8 road car racing in ALMS GT2. The second option would be good for those who love racing for Audi in sportscar racing. Maybe I'm such a sucker for the Audi R8 road car that I'd love to see this in the ALMS.

This is really starting to scare me alot

i'll miss them because theyve been the only major manufacter to support sports cars (and more so lmps) than f1. And now that audi's gone, this also means peugeot might stop supporting the lms because Audis not racing there either anymore.

Audi haven't said if they were leaving the LMES, just ALMS. Peugeot won't stop till they win Le Mans. Until then, it'll means they will now have to go through the Audi R15 to do so.

Um...Autosport.com reported that Audi left the LMES about a day BEFORE they left the ALMS...

Completely new to me. I think their main focus is gonna be geared towards the Audi R8 GT3 car in FIA GT Championship.

Just in: The annual Le Mans test days for 2009 has been cancelled due to the economic crisis.

Actually, they canceled it because of the logistics for the teams coming from America. Instead, they are having a free practice of the Wednesday of the race.

im not optimistic about their chances. How much effort is mazda putting into it? are they going to devlope the chasis in-house or just whatever upgrades lola gives them? if the engine is still aer, i dont see that happening.

without factory michelins and in house devlopement of the chasis like acura did with the courage chasis i just dont see them doing much to challenege acura other than only one p2 acura running.

I'm thinking its had some significant development already while BK-Motorsports had it. Also, its on Michelins And knowing Dyson's Strong Relationship with Lola, it'll be potent, although I'm not too sure what you mean by in house development. Mazda have been putting in some substantial effort.

Considering BK only had it for Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca, they can't have done too much development to the coupe.

Dyson has a great chance to win a few LMP2 races this year, considering Penske's Porsches are gone, de Ferran and Highcroft have moved up to LMP1 and their only competition looks like Fernandez's single Acura and Dyson's old Porsche (which someone has purchased, according to Murphy the Bear).

But I really have to applaud Mazda. While other manufacturers are downsizing or withdrawing, they are doubling their efforts. What's even more amazing is that, according to Gordon Kirby's latest article, Mazda's motorsports department consists of only 11 people, some of whom have other responsibilities in the company besides racing. I wish them the best.
