I'd just like to point out:
Badoer did a best of 1:40.590, and with his best sector times together, a 1:40.100 during the race.

He was ahead of both Toro Rosso's on fastest laps. Some food for thought before Belgium ;)

Badoer didn't do thaaaaat badly, as people have sid he had a good start and his mid race times were alright
Did anyone else love it when Brawn asked the bbc crew what the cricket score was :lol:

Actually, it was the same lap, mere moments after that picture. According to him Grosjean hit him but I never saw a clear angle of it (and I only saw 1 replay specifically showing Badoer spin at the first corner and it was the end result of it).

The later spin wasn't a major problem - at least he didn't bin it. He also spun at the very corner many other drivers had gone wide, spun themselves or whatever. So if he's been having the brake troubles that Ferrari claimed on Friday, its a little less notable he had a spin at said corner.

Indeed, helps a lot, but he still had to get a good start off the line, he can't use it straight away and if he had a bad start it wouldn't propel him 6 places forwards - maybe 1 or 2.
Not to mention you can be squeezed out very easily in the midfield at the start and he managed to avoid that, at least until the alleged Grosjean incident.

He's more reliable, consistent and is faster than people had originally thought. Rubens and Jenson are actually quite well matched in skills, just Rubens has spent more time in brilliant cars or at least good ones (Jordan, Stewart, Ferrari all made good cars at some point).

Good job from Grosjean, just needs to fix the mistakes. Also considering Alonso was on a lighter strategy (which also makes Badoer's time even more respectable).
I assume Buemi's troubles were the brakes, but still, once again beaten by the new kid. Alguesuari should have a race seat next year the way he's going.

I'm not taking anything away from Button, I've seen him fly around the season and maintain the strategies, but up until now something is starting to fall apart. Here, Button said something of his clutch and it felt as if it were slipping, he was struggling to get ahead of Weber (Poor Vettel, btw) and he seems to be, well, almost seems to be letting something go.

I know Red Bull, McLaren and finally Ferrari are putting on some pressure but it didn't seem he could keep pace with Rubens. All I'm wondering is if during those first six dominant races where it was primarily Button and Barrichello on podium almost every friggin' race if Ross primarily focused on Button after he got the first two, if not the first win itself.
 
Hmm, well, Jenson was very careful today to avoid crashing out (see the first corner). So I think overall he's thinking championship and its meaning he doesn't make the most of his race.
But when he had clear air, he was well on the pace and had fastest lap before Glock randomly nicked it.

So he has the speed still and the mindset, but he's just being a little too careful and allowing his opponents to get to him.
He needs to work on his qualy and get up front and avoid having to be so careful.

Also, its worth keeping in mind that its not entirely fair to say he's lost form over the past few races...isn't rather that Brawn lost form? This really has been the first race where the car was good and he didn't make the most of it. But 1) its impossible to overtake here and 2) he is trying not to bin at turn 1.

All things considered, he hasn't lost form - more he just appears to. Don't forget that Rubens also struggled before this race as well..
 
I know it's a bit late, still I wanna say congratulations to Rubens for finally getting a victory in the BGP001. He should have had the victory earlier this year in Spain. He's also still in the hunt for the championship if Button can't get back down to business.
 
What an amazing win for Rubens... what rotten luck for Lewis... seems Ferrari and Renault aren't the only ones whose pit crews fall asleep during a race! :lol:

Is it just me, or did Renault win the "new driver lottery" with Grosjean? He almost makes it into Q3, and his race pace is terrific. Definitely a better alternative to Piquet Junior... already, and on his first F1 race.

Badoer... I'm speechless. Caught more times for speeding in a single practice session than most of us do in a lifetime... :lol:

It's just a pity that he was caught speeding in the pitlane, and not on the track...
 
slightly off topic but made me and the wife laugh.

BBC's coverage of the race had a naked woman in the jacuzzi during the build up.

If you used SKY+ , to record it, fast forward to about 41 mins, look out for the 'fuel adjusted' grid and it'll be right in front of you.

Very funny. :)
 
A little disappointed with Buttons performance, but good to see a Brawn getting a decent result.

Could tell Buttons race was over from the moment Vettel did that swerve manoeuvre at the start (though I'm not trying to put the blame on Vettel there)
Hopefully they will continue to show some speed at the next race...

As for the Valencia circuit, what a dull dull place it is. Such a shame that we're stuck going there for a good few years yet!

One of my favorite moments... at least on the STAR broadcast... was where the RedBull team radio came on, with the pit telling Mark Webber that Brawn was telling Jenson to overtake him. Very funny. I think Brawn should switch over to miltary grade encryption for the next race... :lol:
 
Quite an exciting race up front. It was the first time I'd seen Valencia- and I agree with Martin Brundles comments in that it's a very dull track. Red Bull lacked pace this week, surprisingly.
