So now we have 5 manufactures; Nissan, Ford, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and now Audi.
Who do you think will be number 6?
Personal ideas are Ferrari (With a 430 Scuderia or a 599), McLaren (with the P11), Corvette (But built by Callaway), and Mercedes McLaren/ Mercedes AMG (with either the SL Black or the SLR 722 GT).
Anyways, Spa 24 is in less than 2 weeks and the Entry List has been released, Going for Sangari, JMB/IMSA, Matech, and no one in G3.

Aston is not certain yet, but there has been querys about grandfathering the DBR9, and also the C6.R, wich will most likely happen. Ferrari are supposedly looking at a possible GT1 entry aswell, and in that case most likely with the F430. Maserati has already stated that they are "looking in to it" aswell - would be nice with a Maser GranTurismo!
I don´t think we´ll see Merc until next year, when the new SLS Gullwing comes out. I have a strong feeling Mercedes wants to continue that cars racing heritage.
 
I really think an upgraded GT2 430 is horrible, the whole point of GT1 is for the 'big bangers'

Actually, didn't series boss Stephane Ratel say something like He "Only wanted five-six manufacturers in GT1"? If that's the case then...:indiff:

Six. But there will almost certainly be factoryteams in the different ACO Le Mans series.

ASTON EYES NEW FIA GT1 SERIES WITH DBR9

Customers want to race, but will the FIA issue the waivers?

Aston Martin's gorgeous (yes I'm biased) DBR9 racer could make a return to the track next year - battling it out with Nissan's GT-R in the revised FIA GT1 category.

According to Aston, there are customer teams out there eager to enter the DBR9 in a series that looks increasingly as though it might become a bit of a crowd-pleaser, but first the FIA has got to waive some technical regulations that currently exclude the car from the competition.

The Aston Martin DBR9 is the customers' preferred choice of car, however it would require significant re-engineering as well as FIA waivers to be eligible under the championship's new regulations,' says Aston Martin Racing. But that isn't stopping the company from making a pitch to the FIA.

'It is virtually impossible for us to develop a new car for the championship, but we could prepare a package of modifications for the DBR9 in time for next season,' says Aston Martin Racing commercial director, Tony Schulp. 'The DBR9 is a proven car with a great pedigree. If the necessary waivers are granted by the FIA then we are ready to support our customers who wish to see it continue to race.'

As the situation stands, Aston must wait to hear whether the FIA World Council Technical Working Group will allow the car to compete and, if so, under what conditions. Nissan - which has already built a GT-R racer to meet the new regs - will be one of the potential rivals who will have to agree to the Aston's entry.

The DBR9 has competed in FIA GT1-class racing since 2005 (under the old regulations), and has also raced at Le Mans, winning the GT1 class there in 2007 and 2008.
 
Personally I´d like the DBR9 to be retired. Same goes for the C6.R. What I would love though, is a V12 Vantage! Preferably by Prodrive, but Hexis could possibly do it aswell. Dreams, dreams... I´d also like someone (Callaway!) to take the new ZR1 based GT2 Corvette and upgrade it to GT1!

Reiter will unveil the Lamborghini 670 R-SV GT1 at Spa this afternoon!

It should be stated that the Maserati MC12 Competizione is and has been Ferrari's GT1 entry. I believe its eventual replacement may sprout from the 599XX program. A 599/GTC would not be surprising at all.
 
The GTR is running smoothly. It's on the 5th place now.
