For a minute after reading the title under your avatar, I was assuming the worst. I'm not losing hope though since it "Possibly" could happen.

The Koenigsegg is out. It was ditched two years ago AFAIK. The only other new GT1 project I´ve heard rumours about is a Ferrari F430, but I think that´s dead too.

But the GT-R seems pretty solid ATM, especially since SuperGT supposedly has lost the Autobacs sponsorship, and because of that, it seems the entire championship is in jeopardy. Rumour AFAIK, so don´t take it as fact!
So Nissan is, as it looks right now, free to compete elsewhere. Sadly they will probably be swapping the engine to a V8, instead of the V6 they have in the roadcar. Furthermore they seem to have been negotiating with the FIA about fourwheeldrive, but I don´t think they´ll succeed in that.

Looks quite underwhelming to be fair :(

I hope its in GTR3:p

little birds tell me that it will have VK56DE-based engine. :sly:

Yes. I've heard the V8 will be based off of the Super GT GTRs engine which, correct me if I'm wrong, is based off of the VK56DE. Anyway, the car looks great and I hope it performs as well as it looks!

GT500 uses the VK45DE. 4.5l V8, same engine that has been seen in M45 etc. This new engine comes from Nissan Titan etc..

You do relize its in its testing phases, right? Personally, I think it looks great but it could end looking very different once all the kinks are ironed out of it.

I think that´s what you get though. This car is apparently built according to the new 2010 rulesets, wich is not yet made official to the public. The new Ford GT1 is also made accordingly. The only current GT1 car that complies to these new rules is the Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT.
Besides, an all carbon body is not cheap, so Nissan probably arn´t too keen on making too much changes!

Ford has announced that the Ford GT1 is ready, and will participating in a few rounds this year in preparation for the 2010 world championship.

25 GT1 and GT2 cars committed for Test in a few days.

I thought 13+10=23? =) Joking, but according to fiagt.com, there will be 13 GT1 (including the Nissan GTR and Ford GT), 10 GT2, 1 G2, 21 GT3 and 4 GT4 and supersports. All in all 49 cars.
Personally, I´m very delighted to see that the second largest class is GT1! But, boy, is GT3 something else! 12 different makes in one class is basically unheard of in any other form of racing!
Also looking forward to the offical unveiling of the Matech Ford GT1 tomorrow!

I cant wait to see who's racing the MC12's. Because vitaphone hasn't released their plans this year. I can't wait for the livery of the GTR LM (I guess that's what it'll be called then) and seeing the Ford GT1 in action. I bet its going to be very fast.

Here is a photo of the GTR LM!

Not a very good picture there, got a bigger or better one?

Not alot shown, but the livery is looking good so far. Still waiting for the official Matich Ford GT1 Unvieling

Could this be it? The photos are a bit big but dont pull then down, which admin decides to. And the photo of the GTR LM above showes off the the car the most compared to other pics of the GTR LM. And change the thread name so that its name is "2009 FIA GT Thread" because 2008 was last year...

Not quite sure. I think thats the GT3 car. Also, thread name changed.

I think that's the one! Becuase look at the mirrors, and the side air intake. They have the big hole in them. Look at this Ford GT-1 teaser shot at the Matech page:

If thats it, then good grief. I'm not saying I hate it but other then the wing length and the mirrors, How am I supposed to tell the GT1 version apart from the GT3 car?

I´ll show you how!

Man, does the Ford look amazing! Hope it´s as fast as it looks! Even the fantastic looking Nissan GTR looks bland next to the Matech car!
Note that they both have two elements in the rear wing.

Matechs own official specs
NISMOs own official specs

With the new cars and such, i have a feeling that the FIA GT is going to shine this year.
Hey. even the Lamborghini Gallardo Lp560-GT2 was on track. And that Ford GT-1 is probably is the best looking GT1 car since the Toyota GT-One.

Best pic I´ve seen of the GT2 Lambo so far! Also saw the G2 classed Porsche on a couple of pictures. That car looks as it´s built for GT1 in my eyes. Maybe it´s the same Porsche that raced in GT1 in LMS 2006 (IIRC)?

Wow, they both look awesome. Looks like the 2010 regulations include a shorted rear wing(Already not a favorite rule change among my feelings). Looking at these cars, does this mean the current machines are basically obsolete in 2010?
