My house, not big but decent.

Nice house. I'm jsut conscious I've dragged the thread a little off topic now though, so I'd still spend 200k on a house and rent it out.

200'000 g's and the goverment is coming for it. Well cannot put it into a house or car that can easily be reposessed...I am thinking a nice house little villa in tuscany or a beach house in mexico.

Thanks.

You can still buy a decent house for 200 grand in my area, you just can't get it in as upscale part of the area. Down the road from me in one direction houses are going for well over a million bucks, and down the road in the opposite direction houses are going for 150,000. For 200,000 you are going to get about an 1200 sq. ft. house in a decent enough area with ok schools.

Thats a great looking house Blaze, I love the colour scheme with the nice landscaping.

About 1600-1800 square feet ?

( My wife and I are house shopping, I am supposed to be noticing this kinda crap now )

It's 1800 not including the basement.

Property is a good discussion when it comes to knowing what to do with 200k, a lot of houses are around tha range of price.

It might be worth it's own thread then ;).

Not where I live!
$200K won't buy a studio apartment in the Bay area, not even in the shady areas of Oakland!
My wife & I are waiting on a purchase price for the 1100sq ft apartment we've been renting for the past 2.5 years, we're expecting them to ask somewhere in the $550-600K range. :( :ouch:
Still, $200K would make a nice downpayment and mean we can avoid PMI!!!

$200k US would buy an average house here. The house prices shot up so high in the last few years so if you go back 10 years you can buy a hugeass house in Vancouver for $200k US

Hang on, if you buy property with this $200k, surely the feds will say "oh, look, what a nice house" and take it off you!:dunce:

Can't you think of something a little less grown up than "a nice little house" to spend this little windfall on? You'll be talking interest rates next!

Some of these would be a nice start...

I can think of a lot of things less grown up, but the house is the one I'd go for. An expensive car will carry on costing you money after purchese, a house being rented out will make you money after purchase.

And sure, I was thinking of interest rate's, if I put 200k into a 6% interest account for example, I make 12k a year, for nothing. Now 6k isn't actually that much, you can gwet account that will give you 8,9 some maybe 10% or more. But renting a house will make you more than 10% a year back ;).

...Knock knock!

Hello, are you Live4Speed?

We've repossessed this house to pay your taxes. Tata!

.

That's not part of the original question, McLaren said, the only way you lose the money, is if you don't use it, it didn't matter what it was used on. And irl they can re-posses anything from a TV set to a sofa, to a car so whatever you spent it on, you'd be buggered, unless it was something temporary that would be gone by the time they came around, like a holiday (it'd be a mad holliday wouldn't it).

:)👍

I liked the guy who wanted to ship a bike to Yurp for his holiday....💡

Something else would be:
A Subaru Impreza, Lambo Murcielago, Chevy Grand Vitara and some money for blindage

that's exactly why I would use the money for what I said earlier... there's no way they can't take that away from me when they come to reposess.

A house like BlazinXtreme's would go for around $1.5 million around here, not even close to the $95,000 median income. :grumpy:

Do you know what? I don't really care.:banghead:

But if you buy the Lamborghini, you'll only have $7,000 left to toy with and that's without your choice of options.

$7k probably wouldn't pay for the car insurance for that Lambo alone either.
