Brighton got promoted as League 1 Champions last night. Superb season they have had and they could pass the 100pts barrier. Really great for the club and the whole area, with the new stadium next season, it's time for the massive city to have a big club and I think Poyet has done a brilliant job.

I'm still expecting the current bottom 3 in the Prem to go down. I don't think any of them have enough to fit back, albeit being quite tight down there. You just expect Blackpool to pull something out of nothing, whilst they have a shocking defence, they can score at any time. Plus, having Ian Holloway in the Premiership is always good for football.

Bottom of the Championship looks set and I think for Plymouth in League One that relegation could be the death knell for the club, who have had massive financial issues of late. How on earth Peter Risdale was allowed near another club after what he did at Leeds will always baffle me.

And QPR could still see a points reduction for fielding a player who was owned by an agent. Which is highly amusing considering Neil Warnock *spits* was the one moaning about West Ham fielding Tevez back in 07 (I think it was 07).

Fascinating season across the board. Big shout out to Crawley too, big investments in to the club and always good to see the "local" teams doing well.

They aren't champion just yet, though it doesn't seem likely that they won't be - Southampton have a game in hand, for potentially 92pt. Brighton just need Southampton to not win once and goal difference go their way, or two points from their own remaining five games.

Of course, they play each other on April 23rd :D

Yeah, minor thing. Just be amazed if Soton won all 5 games and Brighton lost all 5. Dare you to put a fiver on it ;)

Wow, since when were Scunthorpe THAT close to Crystal Palace? I've lost track of them completely. Palace's away form has been beyond a joke this season...

Also Blackpool still in the relegation zone :scared: But they have Man U on the last day, and many games against them have secured survival for the other team. West Ham in 06-07...Hull in 08-09, Blackpool in 10-11?

Okay, we're getting close enough to the end of the season to log and preview important/relevant games to promotion and relegation.

April 22nd
League 2
Torquay United - Wycombe Wanderers; Both teams are still in the hunt for automatic promotion and playoff places, but the game is more important for leaders Chesterfield - if Wycombe fail to win, they can no longer overtake Chesterfield, leaving Chesterfield finishing no worse than third and guaranteeing automatic promotion.

Torquay United 0 - 0 Wycombe Wanderers - Chesterfield promoted to League 1.

April 23rd
Premiership
No relegation today.

Championship
Cardiff City - Queen's Park Rangers; If QPR win, they are promoted.
Sheffield United - Bristol City; If Sheffield United lose, they are effectively relegated due to an inferior goal difference, though confirmation would still be a week away...

Cardiff City 2 - 2 Queen's Park Rangers
Sheffield United 3 - 2 Bristol City

League 1
No promotion or relegation today.

League 2
Port Vale - Stockport County; If Stockport County lose, they are effectively relegated due to a massively inferior goal difference.

Port Vale 1 - 2 Stockport County

Great win for us against Leicester on Friday night. 2 of our last 3 games are away and we've lost our last 4 away games....Though they are teams in the bottom 8 iirc.

April 25th
Premiership
No relegation today

Championship
Queen's Park Rangers - Hull City; If QPR win, they are promoted and champions.

Reading - Sheffield United, Crystal Palace - Leeds United, Preston North End - Cardiff City; If Palace win, Preston need to win or they are relegated - any other combination of results puts it off for another game. Sheffield United need to at least match Palace's result or they are relegated. Hahahaha.

Queen's Park Rangers 1 - 1 Hull City
Reading 2 - 3 Sheffield United
Preston North End 0 - 1 Cardiff City
Crystal Palace 1 - 0 Leeds United - Preston North End relegated

League 1
Sheffield Wednesday - Swindon Town, Bournemouth - Bristol Rovers, Huddersfield - Dagenham & Redbridge, Oldham Athletic - Walsall; Swindon need to at least match the results of Bristol Rovers, Daggers and Walsall or they will be relegated.

Oldham Athletic 1 - 1 Walsall
Sheffield Wednesday 3 - 1 Swindon Town - Swindon Town relegated
Bournemouth 2 - 1 Bristol Rovers
Huddersfield 2 - 1 Dagenham & Redbridge

League 2
Chesterfield - Bury, Shrewsbury Town - Accrington Stanley, Wycombe Wanderers - Crewe Alexandra; If Bury win and either the Shrews or Wycombe do not, Bury are promoted.

Stockport County - Northampton Town; If Stockport lose, they are relegated. If they draw, they need to win both remaining games and turn around a 35 goal difference deficit but are not confirmed down. If they win, they're not gone just yet...

Chesterfield 2 -3 Bury
Shrewsbury Town 0 - 0 Accrington Stanley - Bury promoted
Wycombe Wanderers 2 - 0 Crewe Alexandra
Stockport County 2 - 2 Northampton Town

Pity.

That Palace aren't coming down with them, that is.

:mischievous: Just be happy you're getting Sheffield derbies again next year.

At this rate Palace might NOT BE 21ST for once. They're ahead on goal difference to Doncaster by a mere 1 goal and they'll move up to 20th at last. Marvelous!

Also go QPR! They have made London very proud this season. :)

I am - that's 6 points for free for us.

Edit: Pah. Just putting off the inevitable though.

Edit edit: Fuu.

Not unless they're changing it to 0.5pt for a win for the last four games of the season.

They're 2pt behind Blackpool, who are currently the last team not in the relegation zone, with four games to play - potentially 12 more points available.

My predictions...

Premier League: West Ham are probably out of it now. Wolves and Wigan will escape, whereas Blackpool will survive on the last day against Man U. Blackburn and Birmingham won't get enough points and they'll both be down. It's not that I'm against them, but the other three deserve to stay in the Prem.

Championship: QPR should be champions without any stupid point deductions. I will destroy FA's HQ if they give them a reduction :grumpy: But anyway, I think Cardiff will snatch second and Swansea will win to make it two Welsh teams in the Prem OR Millwall or Burnley will manage to do a Blackpool style shock playoff win.

League 1: Southampton to get the auto promo spot #2. Orient to win the playoffs over Peterborough. Dagenham and Redbridge to get ahead of Walsall and consign them to relegation.

League 2: Shrewsbury > Wycombe to get the final promo spot. Other playoff places stay the same, with Accrington Stanley winning the playoffs. Barnet to survive ahead of Hereford who'll get relegated.

Blue Square: AFC to beat Wrexham to get promoted to the Football League.

April 30th
Premiership
No relegation today

Championship
Watford - Queen's Park Rangers; If QPR win, they are promoted and champions. Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest, Reading and Swansea will all confirm playoff spots, depending on results.

Watford 0 - 2 Queen's Park Rangers - QPR - promoted and champions

Sheffield United - Barnsley, Nottingham Forest - Scunthorpe United; Hull City - Crystal Palace, If either Sheffield United or Scunthorpe fail to win, they are relegated. However, they may already be down if Crystal Palace get a point at Hull and Doncaster take a point from Leicester.

Doncaster Rovers 1 - 1 Leicester City
Nottingham Forest 5 - 1 Scunthorpe United - Scunthorpe United relegated
Sheffield United 2 - 2 Barnsley - Sheffield United relegated
Hull City 1 - 1 Crystal Palace

League 1
Walsall - Charlton Athletic, Dagenham & Redbridge - Carlisle United, Bristol Rovers - Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons - Notts County; If Walsall win, Daggers be relegated unless they also win and Notts County lose - and Plymouth, who play earlier in the day, will be six points down with six points remaining to them. Bristol Rovers are effectively down if they do not win while Walsall do - needing a 16 goal swing on the final day of the season.

Walsall 2 - 0 Charlton Athletic
Dagenham & Redbridge 3 - 0 Carlisle United
Bristol Rovers 1 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday
MK Dons 2 - 1 Notts County

League 2
Bury - Wycombe Wanderers, Cheltenham Town - Shrewsbury Town; Bury can still take the title, but Wycombe are looking to secure promotion - if Wycombe win and Shrewsbury lose, they get the final promotion spot today. Any other result pushes it into next week.

Bury 1 - 3 Wycombe Wanderers
Cheltenham Town 0 - 1 Shrewsbury Town

Crewe Alexandra - Stockport County, Northampton Town - Stevenage, Oxford United - Lincoln City, Accrington Stanley - Barnet; Stockport are down unless they win convincingly and Northampton lose heavily. If Northampton and Lincoln win and Barnet do not, then Barnet will join Stockport in the Blue Square Premier next year.

Crewe Alexandra 2 - 0 Stockport County - Stockport County relegated
Northampton Town 2 - 0 Stevenage
Accrington Stanley 3 - 1 Barnet
Oxford United 2 - 1 Lincoln City

May 2nd
Championship
Cardiff City - Middlesbrough, Portsmouth - Norwich City; If Norwich win and Cardiff lose, Norwich get the second automatic promotion spot, while Cardiff and Swansea qualify for the playoffs. Swansea will only remain in the hunt for the automatic place if both teams lose...

Cardiff City 0 - 3 Middlesbrough
Portsmouth 0 - 1 Norwich City - Norwich City promoted

League 1
Plymouth Argyle - Southampton; Southampton won't confirm promotion with a win, but Huddersfield would need a 17 goal swing on the final day to catch them... Plymouth, however, will be down if they don't win.

Plymouth Argyle 1 - 3 Southampton - Plymouth Argyle relegated

I'd love Leeds to go up this season but they have very slim chance for promotion now. To get to play-off spot, they need to win at QPR and hope that Crystal Palace, who are safe now, beat Nottingham at Selhurst Park. But it's Leeds own fault, they picked 9 pts in last 9 games.

Yeah, but no one likes Leeds ;)

Well, I live walking distance from Elland Road now, so it'd be really nice to see some big teams come by. Maybe in one of domestic cups ;)

Premiership
No relegation today

Championship
Already over bar the playoffs...

League 1
Southampton - Walsall, Huddersfield Town - Brentford; The only way for Huddersfield Town to gain promotion here would be for them to win 9-0 or better and Southampton to lose 9-0 or worse (or any other combination which improves Huddersfield's relative goal difference by 18 over Southampton's...).

Huddersfield Town 4 - 4 Brentford - Southampton promoted
Southampton 3 - 1 Walsall

Meanwhile, if Walsall win the match - even if not by nine goals to nil - the teams below them are relegated and their matches irrelevant.

Peterborough United - Dagenham & Redbridge, Colchester United - Bristol Rovers; If Walsall don't win, however, Bristol can only escape with a seventeen goal swing (9-0 win and an 8-0 defeat for Walsall will do it). A Walsall draw relegates them, though they are effectively already down. A point for the Daggers will be enough to relegate Walsall if they lose, but they'll need a win if Walsall draw.

Peterborough United 5 - 0 Dagenham & Redbridge - Dagenham & Redbridge relegated
Colchester United 2 - 1 Bristol Rovers - Bristol Rovers relegated

League 2
Shrewsbury Town - Oxford United, Wycombe Wanderers - Southend United; If Wycombe match or beat Shrewsbury's result, they are promoted. Shrewsbury have to better Wycombe's result for promotion - even a draw will do if Wycombe lose...

Shrewsbury Town 3 - 0 Oxford United
Wycombe Wanderers 3 - 1 Southend United - Wycombe Wanderers promoted

Barnet - Port Vale, Lincoln City - Aldershot; Nothing but a win will do for Barnet (against a team who won 7-2 the previous week) - anything else and they're down and out. If they do win, Lincoln must also win or they will go down - a draw will not be enough due to massive goal difference deficit.

Barnet 1 - 0 Port Vale
Lincoln City 0 - 3 Aldershot - Lincoln City relegated

Play-offs!

Nice to see some spineless decision making from the FA over QPR.

Seems cheating is okay now.
