Very cool. 👍

Wow they pulled that out of nowhere. :p

It looks very familiar. :dopey:

2010? You Americans have to wait at least a year for it?

Oh. Oh. Oh. I know what to call it! How about Ute!? Its short, catchy, and describes the utility aspect of it!

:dunce:

Edit: Being serious, they better not call it a G8 _______. That would be about as bad as the Taurus/Taurus X.

Like the front. The G8 front, though, might take some getting used to.

I’m a bit concerned about the abbreviated cockpit. I can understand why it’s not a four-door with front and rear seats, but I think a lot of Americans would at least want the cockpit extended back another foot or so for inside storage. Unless there’s actually more storage space than I’m thinking there is.

Fuggin' SWEET!

Absolutely awesome! That is one clean, well-done design. I have no idea if the Pontiac badge will give it the sales it could do as a Chevrolet (El Camino), but I doubt that they'll undersell the 15,000 or so that we may get per year.

----

BTW: I submitted "Pontiac Safari"

EDIT: Edit: Also submitted "Pontiac Mojave"

===

EDIT: It'll be a "2010" but it will probably come in March 2009 as a 2010 Model (just like the Camaro)

I'm not sure if I like this or not. It's a great car for MT biking but then again there's only two seats.

Drifting? :dopey:

I submitted a name.

I'm a creative one: the 2010 Pontiac Safari

EDIT: TREED BY BRAD!!!?!?!?one!

Ooops.. how many people said safari?

EDITEDIT: Damn.

Only one entry per person. So brad, I guess we're two of a zillion people who said/ will say "Safari".

My guess is that Safari will be popular because of the historical context... I'd love to seen the Indian connection(s) come back...

You're right. That's the reason I passed on a Tacoma. Regular cab sucks. Hopefully they'll make an extended cab version so you can at least throw a small bag or something behind the seats if you need to.

The extended cab likely won't happen, as it isn't offered in Australia already. This is pretty much that, with the G8 Grille/wheels, and the G8 steering wheel. Not really anything different than the Ute SS...

But!

Word is that GMC will get a four-door version of the Ute sometime soon-ish to replace the Sierra.

Didn't this news go around a while ago in the Zeta News thread?

Word is that GMC will get a four-door version of the Ute sometime soon-ish to replace the Sierra.

I wonder if they'd consider using some bits of the GMC four-door to make this a four door? It seems to defeat the purpose a little though.

There are a number of storage compartments and enough space to possibly surprise you all.

looks like the holden VE commodore ute....hahaha but it has a pontiac front end.... which we have in Australia already....because we made it

Remember Americans, it's not meant to be heavy duty. It's something you can still hall a decent load in but have loads of fun when you're racing/driving it.

I call it:
Pontiac Mexican Hobo.

Maybe if he said a Pontiac Australian Hilbilly I'd have laughed, it would have made more sense

PS- I don't think Utes are for hilbillies, I wish they'd steer clear of them but alas we have to put up with feral Utes anyway.

I was going to say "Australian Flaming Leek" but I didn't think it would fit.

Baja wasn't like this either.

Think of it as a 2-door G8 with a really big boot. Still a sports car, but a really practical one. (And handling suffers a little for that, but should still beat many other cars)

Hence why I said WITHOUT the back doors and small bed. :p

Like a Baja isn't a sport car though :sly:
I hope Ameicans love it as much as Aussies do.

Are Holden doing a Crewman version of the new Ute? If so, this would be pretty straight forward.

Old Commodore Crewmans for reference:

I was going to call it the Pontiac "Runabout" but it seems like people from America's hat can't submit names.

Crewman wasn't great, but you still see quite a few around.

CABALLERO

Yeah, I know it's a GMC name, but it makes more sense on a Pontiac.
