The Charger wasn't even a sedan back in the 60's-70's, was it? Because if it was not, then Dodge really can't do much right these days. And plus that thing probably weighs a lot, anyways.

The Charger is actually LIGHTER in comparable trim than the Challenger.

Despite the Challenger being smaller and on the same platform.

I don't hate the car, it actually looks nice other than the back.
But I just don't like that it's called the charger, the charger use to be known as an amazing 2 door muscle car......now its an overpowered sedan.

Oh, and when I say 'other than the back' I mean the back of that car makes me want to rear end it with my Blazer, over, and over, and over again.

Should have worded that better.
I don't have any problem with the actual car itself, and it isn't really a complaint. I was just saying that I think they should have named it something else as in my opinion it's just too different compared to the 69' charger.
I didn't think about how that statement about it being an overpowered sedan sounded at first, it was late as hell and I was tired, so it didn't really come out right.

Actually, I love the car overall. My only real complaint is the back.

Back in the 60s/70s practically everything American had a 2 door variant. As time went on the demand for coupes diminished greatly and some cars became sedans only, others ceased to exist. Maybe you should count your blessings that the Charger has survived at all if you loved the original so, especially since it's still powered by a Hemi V8. Thank your lucky stars you're not Malibu fans, once a 2 door RWD V8 muscle car, now a FWD mid-sized sedan- funny thing is though I don't exactly see Malibu fans whining........

(Please note, sports sedans rock the house, adding 2 doors makes it no less of a legendary muscle car).

Well, we still have big rear wheel drive sedans at GM, but for right now it's kind of an odd sort of waiting game right now. We're getting the Holden Caprice as the Chevrolet Caprice PPV (Police Car) early next year, and my guess is that it's their way of sticking their foot in the door and seeing whether or not big sedans will sell. Second-hand, they're going to command a pretty penny, just like it's Caprice/Impala SS predecessor.

They're is still talk of Cadillac getting a Zeta-based super sedan, as well as Chevrolet getting the Commodore/G8, as "it was too good of a car not to sell." Badge it as a Chevelle, they'll sell a kajillion of 'em.

Looks like hell, especially the rear end with those god awful tail lamps. Probably just a sea of craptastic plastic inside too. Although I thought the previous Charger was crap too. And I'll have to see a million of these things too since I live next to the Chrysler HQ building. At least I get Alfa's to look at occasionally .

I remember when Chrysler used to build cars that were good, or at least a few good cars.

I agree the Charger has always looked like crap. The Challenger looks much better. I dont expect the Charger name to last much longer.

The recent Automobile mentioned that GM may have seen the stupidity of dumping the Zeta and instead focusing on not-at-all-lighter, not-at-all-more-fuel-efficient stretched versions of the Epsilon II. We may actually be seeing those cars that the promised when they spent a billion dollars developing the chassis for them.

My guess is that GM realizes just how good that chassis is, even if it is a shade on the heavy side. Chrysler is going to ride that LX/LY chassis for as long as they can, probably clone it, and then ride on it some more. If I were GM, I'd try sticking everything I can on it.

Now that I think of it, talk is that the next Falcon is going to ride on a modified version of the D2C chassis. I'd venture a guess and say there is a decent chance that they give us a four-door RWD sedan from the Blue Oval boys if sales of the Charger and PPV stay strong. Well, if they decide the Taurus isn't the savior of the brand anyway.

The one thing about Chevy and the Holden cars, is thay they will be nothing but a Holden with a bow tie. The cars will never have a different design from the holdens.

I don't see the problem with that. Holden is basically Australia's Chevrolet anyways, and transporting the cars over shouldn't cause any obvious identity crises like it did with the Pontiac models.

They are indeed, plus half the chav blokes in Australia put mad tyte Chevy badges on their Holdens too (even the V6 models, which have nothing Chevy in them ).

Well I see what your saying. But to me the charger itself didn't survive, only the name.
Again, the new charger is still bad ass, I only wish they would do with the charger what they did for the challenger.
And that rear end looks better and better every time I look at it.....I actually like that now.

You can kinda see a little smidge of Maserati in the new grill. But just a tiny bit. I do love the new styling. A lot better than the previous style. Looks a bit more like it's '69 counterpart.

It looks ok but I'm guessing it'll feel like crap. A lot of Chrysler's interiors looked ok aesthetically but when you touched anything it gave you that cheap feeling.

Because if you look at their past attempts at building a interior it's pretty much sucked. Honestly soft to the touch does not equal quality. Our $35k Pacifica has a soft to the touch interior but it's still rubbish.
