Lucky coincidence. ;)
Okay. Here's my prediction for next week.

1. Johnson will NOT win at Charlotte but will finish in the Top 5 and will be the points leader.
2. Either Edwards or Harvick will finish worse than 25th.
3. The winner will be a non-chaser.

If all of these come true, I will truly scare myself.

Apparently Dollar General will be sponsoring Brian Scott in Joe Gibbs #11 Nationwide car as well as a few races on the 18 and 20.

They will also sponsor Logano's 20 Cup car in 10 races.
UPDATE: The sponsorship picture at Joe Gibbs Racing is set to undergo a vast change next season. At a news conference Thursday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Dollar General is expected to announce will greatly increase its involvement in NASCAR, sponsoring both Sprint Cup and Nationwide series teams at JGR in 2012. Among the changes:
- Dollar General will become the primary sponsor on driver Joey Logano's #20 Toyota in the Cup series for 10 to 12 races in 2012.
- Dollar General will become the primary sponsor on JGR's #11 Nationwide Series team driven by Brian Scott.
- The company will also be the primary sponsor for several races for JGR's #18 and #20 Nationwide teams.
Dollar General will likely also continue its involvement with the Truck series team owned by JGR driver Kyle Busch, sources said. A JGR spokesman declined to comment on Tuesday when asked about the sponsorship changes. The move means Home Depot, which has been a primary sponsor in the Cup series with JGR since 1999, will relinquish roughly a third of the races on the #20 next season.

And a third team will use the 77 this year.

TRG to field 2nd car at Charlotte: Hermie Sadler will run the #71 TRG Motorsports Ford at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with regular driver Andy Lally in a 2nd TRG Motorsports car, the #77 Ford. Plans are to run two cars the rest of the season, with Lally in either the #71 or #77 and a 2nd driver in the other car. The #71 is in the top 35 of owners points and currently locked into a guaranteed starting spot, 39 points ahead of the #38 team. Supposedly Sadler will also run in one of the cars at Martinsville Speedway.(10-11-2011)

Jayski is the source of both.

The Dollar General Announcement has pretty much confirmed that theory and my suspicions I've had. Ironically after sponsoring a JGR driver who also used to drive sometimes for what was Braun Racing back in 2008, I'm not that surprised that they went in this direction to expand their involvement in NASCAR.

Dollar General should be on the highlights a lot with Scott.

Knowing the nature of the Nationwide series, it'll be mostly attributed to Kyle Busch just as it was in the Truck series.

I was talking about him wrecking all the time and Jimmy Spencer always giving him the crying towel

That makes sense from a marketing standpoint but a darn shame nonetheless.

Thats unfortunately the nature of the business right now. Talent has taken a backseat to sponsorship dollars and it isn't just drivers being kicked out for not bringing a sponsor, but Sponsors are also playing a controlling part in where their money is going and that primerily image based. The bigger the name, the more attention to the sponsors they bring.

Well I don't watch Jimmy Spencer so could care less what he does

I'm laughing right now at everyone that gave Johnson the championship

Well, that may just have ended Jimmie Johnson's championship streak. Good riddance, I'm ready for someone else to win. I hope he isn't injured though. The tidbits I've been able to catch, the racing has been pretty good 👍.

The Toyota Venza pace car doesn't really fulfill the normal sporty pace car bill . Johnson sounds okay, that's good.

Thank goodness for safety barriers.

The crash will put the 48 around 30 points back which they can still come back from this if things go right for them at 'Dega.

Like I said before while everyone else was moaning and groaning about last week, Talladega is what will decide the championship

Damn. Brad drove his lap down car to the top ten in the last run... but it didn't matter.

At least it's not smaller than the cars.

Amazing Jimmie's car was even running still.

1. Wrong
2. Wrong
3. ...and wrong!

:p

Disclaimer: I'm not a Jimmie Johnson fan. Way to go Matt!!! :D Now, if anyone is counting Jimmie Johnson out of the Chase.... just don't. Its really close from 1st to 8th. Talladega is next, and didn't Jimmie win there in April? ;) --- Randy

It was weird to see Johnson hit the wall so violently, because it's usually the inexperienced drivers who overcorrect and have unusual-looking crashes. I'm pretty sure he was wrong to blame Newman for crowding him, since it sure looked like the 39 was running a very normal line. It just looked like Johnson's car was too loose to resist the effect of the air from a car on his outside.

While I doubt that my impression means much, I think Edwards has looked like the most championship-caliber driver all season long. It must have to do with the fact that he's had so few bad days while simultaneously having so many top-fives. I think he has the best shot of anyone to win the title at this point.

When did Johnson blame Newman?

He said directly on the radio after the wreck that it was his own fault for getting into that situation.

I actually thought Kahne coming up to the two may have played a part. Not sure he was close enough to lighten up the 48's rear but Kahne was definitely catching up and that could have forced Jimmie to push harder to pass Newman. As for him over-correcting, I think the transition to the apron did him. In retrospect, he should have let the car loop around.

I actually think Harvick has the edge for the next two races, especially Martinsville where both Edwards and Kenseth tend to struggle.

He said directly on the radio after the wreck that it was his own fault for getting into that situation.

When he was interviewed outside the infield care center, his comments were "We got into turn 1, and I think the 39 just was real tight to my outside, and it pulled me around on corner entry, and from there on I was just kind of hanging on." He wasn't pinning the blame completely on Newman, but he did seem to think that Newman wasn't giving him as much room as he should have.

I agree, but I also think that Edwards and Kenseth have a clear edge in two of the final three races (Texas and Homestead), and it's anyone's guess who's going to be good at the repaved Phoenix. Add it up and it's pretty close to a wash, but I think it still lands in favor of Edwards, particularly because he's been measurably stronger than Harvick in just about every way other than wins this season (top-fives, top-tens, average finish, average running position, driver rating, etc.). I'd argue that Johnson and Busch are a better bet to outperform Edwards over the last five races - but they have to make up 18 points (and three spots) and 35 points (and seven spots), respectively. That's a substantial handicap for both drivers.

Well, he has in the passed complained about drivers being close to him on the track. He has this self-centered attitude that he is to be given all the room on the track that he needs during the races. I remember the season finale last year when he was complaining every time he got near someone else during the race about them not giving him enough room.
