The sport is a business. She brings guaranteed sponsorship dollars to every single race. Any owner would be glad to have her for that stability and marketability alone. Any positive results are a bonus. It's why Hendrick is resigning Dale Jr.

If you're going to be in and out of Nationwide en route to Cup in just one season, then I'm sure you'd have to be the real deal when stepping up to Cup. If you're going from full-time Nationwide to full-time Cup in one season, you're going to need to do impressive in Nationwide. Danica will still have plenty to learn even when she does eventually join the Cup tour full-time. She even has a fairly good attitude about her critics, mostly saying something along the lines of "whether you either like me or dislike me, I could care less. I come to race." I don't really see how you can really hate Danica Patrick. It's not like she has loads of marketing skill but zero racing talent. If she doesn't win in NASCAR, then it's not like she was wasted talent. I could think of countless racers in any of NASCAR's top three touring series that never won a single race in any of the top three NASCAR series. She is capable of winning in NASCAR. The margin for error will be a bit less in NASCAR compared to the IndyCar Series since you can afford to bang up your car a little more in NASCAR and still have enough to win (or at least, finish strong). So I'm giving her a chance.

I think RACECAR brings up a great point. Maybe she should run two Nationwide seasons just to prepare herself for the challenges Cup will provide. Remember that the 2012 season for Danica will include about 8 or 9 Cup races, so she won't be completely foreign to Cup. Her maturation and adaptation will be key in her transition from Indy cars to Nationwide and eventually Nationwide to Cup. She'll be a consistent challenger to me.

I'd say out of some 30+ races in the Nationwide Series, I would tab her for 20th or better finishes for about 45% up to 55% of races. Lord willing, 30% in the top 10 in those 30+ races. Wins? Less than 5% that she wins at least one race next season. Again- I would give her a chance. Let's not overhype her NASCAR arrival or put on one expectation too many on her. Of course, I don't believe in expectations anyway.

Danica will do fine in NASCAR, she's always around the top 10 on ovals in Indycars and has had some good showings in the nationwide series on ovals, the road courses are her downfall and NASCAR only has 2 of those.

Apparently there is a chance there will be more NASCAR racing in Montreal after this year, also the possibility of a second Canadian race(possibly Mosport).

I'll be at MIS for the Sprint Cup race tomorrow, seated in Turn 1. I'll make sure to get some pictures and upload them afterward. 👍

YEEEEEESSSS!!! Marcos does it again!!!

Hell yess, way to go!!

*Faints from excitement*

Should be three points per win, for only the top ten. The wild cards get zero bonus points.

Biffle's team just can't seem to figure out the in-race adjustments. I was amazed at how uncompetitive he was after that four-tire stop put him in traffic. Also, Brad's been on quite a roll here lately, hasn't he? He's even up to twelfth in the points, ahead of Denny.

His last 8 finishes are: 10,15,7,35*,9,1,2,3.

*Tire blew at Louden, where he ran ~5th place for the majority of the race. We'll see what happens at Bristol, he's been good there in the NNS series.

Congratulations to (the Pure Michigan 400 winner), and also Marcos Ambrose on the win in Montreal. Tasmanian Devil gettin' it done again on two different road courses in two different countries. And also, congrats to the Trucks winner at Michigan from back on Saturday.

Aside from this weekend's action, I've read on Speed Channel's bottom line deal (trying to be more like ESPN/ABC with that) that Danica Patrick will soon announce she'll race for JR Motorsports full-time in Nationwide and Stewart-Haas for her Sprint Cup races all next year. Congrats to her. Hope she can be competitive.

There was an online stream earlier today unveiling the 2012 Camry, guessing that was their NASCAR related announcement.

Here is a pic, reminds me of a Civic(not a good thing as the current Civic sucks).

Did not see that and I do agree it looks abit too Civic-ish, at least that particular trim you show me does (Trim on the Pace car doesn't look as much like it). While I don't really care for the road cars, I do think the current one is alot better as its slightly different without going overboard. I'm wondering why Cale seems..depressed about that.

Anyone else think Kyle Busch went over the edge tonight out on the track?

And anyone else sick and tired of Cup drivers winning non-Cup races? :grumpy:

Over the edge? Probably but I was absolutely not surprised when he tried taking out Sadler.

Kyle will never change, no matter what the sack of potatoes on TV say otherwise. Whining about being bumped from behind? Pot, meet kettle.

Who isn't? Then again, they are supposed to bring in more people to the races.

Of course, looking at the grandstands of Bristol, one has to question whether that tactic actually works. :boggled:

Unless I'm mistaken, I think I've seen Iowa and many other races with the same sort of problem this year.

Oh and hey guys, no more All-Star Showdown. Apparently, NASCAR was unable to find a replacement for Toyota as the title sponsor.

Gay.

NASCAR
The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown, an annual event at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale that started in 2003 and attracted the top developmental drivers in the country, has been canceled. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Joey Logano and David Gilliland have won the All-Star Showdown before moving up the stock car ladder. X-Games star Travis Pastrana made his NASCAR debut at the All-Star Showdown this past January. Bob DeFazio, the vice president and chief operating officer of Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, said he was not surprised that NASCAR cancelled the All-Star Showdown. "It didn't come out of nowhere," DeFazio said. "Negotiations have been ongoing with NASCAR and Toyota. I'm sure the economy had something to do with this." The Showdown was one of the more popular events at Irwindale, attracting sell-out crowds. It was televised nationally on Speed. The Showdown started as a one-day, two-race event and was eventually expanded to three races over two days. DeFazio added that the contract between Toyota and NASCAR expired at the end of the Showdown in 2011. The two sides were negotiating a deal before the Showdown race in 2011. Ultimately, NASCAR could not work out a deal with Toyota and no other sponsor stepped forward to take its place

So much for the "Soul Of Nascar"

I've noticed a lot of empty seats lately at the races. Most notably at Indy and Michigan. I myself don't really even watch the races all that much anymore.

I will however be at Bristol Saturday. Be the first Bristol race for me so I'm pretty excited.

I'll be at PIR for the fall race, but still need to purchase my tickets. Probably going to do the $30 hillside seats so we can bring a cooler and some lawn chairs. 👍

Also, NASCAR and PIR are having an open test on October 4th so the teams can get some time on the new surface/configuration, which is open and FREE to the public. 👍
