Looks like too much rear brake or something broke on the rear of the Mercedes.

And yes, Grosjean is in P1.

What is up with everyone and the kitty litter?

Schumacher's first sector prior to his off was very slow. Wonder what happened...

?!? Does anyone know whats up with Sky Sports F1? I'm watching two streams which seem to be the same channel (Sky Sports F1 HD), but they seem different?

Ferrari look like they'll be fighting amongst the midfield this year. When was the last time neither car made Q3?
At least there shouldn't be any more shenanigans between Massa and Hamilton this year.

They look the same to me.

...Not sure but Q3 is a few hours away so we can't make that conclusion at all. Just like I doubt Vettel is that slow at the moment. This is the same crap McLaren pulled last year and waited for Quali to do the talking instead. I think RBR are doing a bit of the same possibly. Ferrari might be as well but on a lesser level.

I think Vettel will be fighting for pole. He hasn't even made a good run on the soft compound yet.

I doubt they'll be that bad. Even if they've been overtaken by Mercedes, there's still two places left in Q3. It might mean Ferrari have to burn a set of softs that they would rather otherwise keep, but I fully expect Alonso to be somewhere in the top ten come qualifying. Probably somewhere between fifth and eighth.

Looks like Sauber and Toro Rosso might be the top of the mid-fielders this season, but even that's too early to judge.

Actually, I think it could go any way between Sauber, Toro Rosso, Force India and Lotus, and the deciding factor will likely be the driver. Oddly enough, I think Grosjean is looking better for this race than Raikkonen. Raikkonen appears to be very fussy about his set-up, and when he finally gets out, he's not blisteringly quick.

Anyone else with sky know if theres going to be adverts through all the coverage? I was ok with it in practice, but so far in qualifying pre-show you got the 5mins of adverts every 10-15mins going on, I can't believe they can do that considering how much it costs per year.

Interesting P3 anyway, Its been a few years since I had to deal with adverts and it really just kills it for me, along with the presenter who sounds like he just read up about F1 history last week. Adverts is alright if you press red button every 15mins i guess (as someone pointed out to me earlier).

Really looking forward to the race!

I believe there are no advertisements on Sky through qualifying and the race.

This is something that Australia has had to live with for years. So if there are any British viewers who complain about ads in free practice, we're abandoning the monarchy.

Last year for free (or TV licence price) you had all practices, qualifying + preshow and race + preshow + aftershow, which is so far exactly the same as what we have with sky. Only the BBC was completely uninterupted no adverts!. The Sky coverage is extremely expensive in comparison, and it seems like its only uninterupted during the qualifying and race events, not during the pre-shows, and not at all during practice events

Sky are like ****ing crack dealers when you compare to what we had last year, and for how much. I was alright with it until I noticed the sheer ammount of adverts, its ridiculous, maybe It seems more so for me as I don't really watch the TV in my house, and the stuff I do/did watch is on the BBC (no adverts).

At least you're getting FP coverage. All we get here is... qualifying, racing and an hour special before either. Finis.

It reeks of "we didn't think of it, so we want it banned". The verdict will be reviewed after qualifying, but Charlie Whiting is still believed to be happy with its legality. Red Bull and Lotus may have to wait until after the race for a full verdict; in the worst-case scenario, I'd say that it will be banned from Malaysia on.
