Do any of you guys think that Marussia will race the weekend..after whats happened this week?? i dont think they will..

There will be some improvements in the Health and Safety department, but I'm sure they will race. Firstly they would have said something by now I expect, but also they are not mourning Maria since she is in a stable condition. There will probably be a number of messages on cars though as well, wishing her well.

If by some miracle Marussia get a podium then it'll be dedicated to her.

^ Nice and subtle, I like it. Does anyone know if/when Red Bull will be revealing their Wings for Life livery, or will we have to wait until Practice 1?

It's certainly better than the Toyota TF108, which carried a livery for THE DARK KNIGHT at Silverstone back in 2008:

But I think Lotus missed a golden opportunity to include Wayne Enterprises as a sponsor ...

They already have. I linked to it a page or two ago. And there are more photos here.

It's basically the same livery as they usually run, with the photographs tinted to fit their normal colours.

All I've got all over my Twitter feed is 'traffic at Silverstone is horrendous', 'stuck in a mass of stationary cars' and 'weather is awful'.

The weather's pretty shocking everywhere in the UK today

Been raining non stop this morning where I am, really hard rain so I was expecting to switch on the TV and see a soaked track... and yes.

I am in two minds for tomorrow, I wat it to rain for an exciting Qualifying session, but I don't want to get wet as I am going there for Qualifying.

Edit: Lots of cars coming out, both Marrusias, HRT's and Red Bull just seeing how wet it is.

I don't think Alonso set a lap in P1, Ferrari must be using Massa as a guinea pig so that Alonso can save some tyres because each driver is allocated just 3 wet sets for the full weekend and it looks like it's going to be wet all weekend.

Yeah, a months worth of rain is meant to fall today. Its been raining constantly since this morning, great for the GP though as its supposed to stay for the next few days :dopey:

Got to say, it's the Ferrari and the McLaren that look good in the rain, I know it's early days but they are up there with hardly any laps in.

The last time i went to the British GP, in 2008 - when it also pissed it down all weekend  Mark Webber looked by far the most comfortable around there in the wet. Had he not spun on the first lap, i think he'd have won quite easily.

What, when Hamilton won by about a minute...?

Yes. Webber dropped from about 3rd to last on the first lap and spent the rest of the race slicing through the field.

I still think Hamilton would have won, but you're right that Webber was very fast too.

Williams pit crew will be busy to get that out for FP3 or Qually.

New favourite driver: KAMUI!!!!

Guess who's glad they upgraded from trainee to qualified track marshal too late to volunteer to this years Grand Prix.

Well I think you can take away that Grosjean and Webber seamed happy and comfortable enough not to go out today... "hiding" their game a bit, saving tyres and waiting for qually?

"Mark Webber says a lack of full wet tyres played a huge role in him opting not to do any serious running at Silverstone on Friday."

Just 3 sets of wets for the weekend.

Hamilton fastest and he didn't set it when the track was at his dryest, I think he went a bit deep in turn 3 to which costs you going onto the straight.

Pirelli Director Paul Hembery was confident that they could easily run all three sets for the whole weekend even if the weather stays as it is. Also said he think some teams wanted to try and avoid what happened to Senna, as said above, not much can be learnt anyway.

Hamilton then:

I think they have to be ready for an "eventual" drying track (at least on the racing line) if the weather holds even if for a while during the duration of the race. IF that happens, wet tyres will wear out, fast.

Though I'm not sure how much 10 or 15 laps saved on damp practice will mean on drying conditions, even one lap may make a difference in the end.

Its a rare circumstance, I doubt we'll see any rule changes. Hembrey himself said today it'd cost Pirelli half a million in logistical costs to ship the extra tyres out to every Grand Prix with a change in the rule. Just an unfortunate set of circumstances.

You still have to factor in that you don't want your car to end up like Senna's just because you had an extra set there an thought "What the worst that could happen".
