Interesting to not that not a single Mercedes engined team is protesting that Mercedes teams rear wing ;).(They must have been threatened with bad batch of engines hehe :sly:... Not Ferrari either....but they probably have much more to worry about...

The price inflation seems to be consistent for a sporting event. I'm guessing they stopped you taking bottles/cans into the track... When I went to the Indycar race at Toronto last year, I bought a 2L bottle of water 5 minutes before I got to the circuit, but they wouldn't let us take it in. 👎

Yeah, we're not allowed to bring any outside foods and drinks into the circuit so everything must be purchased in the circuit. A bit of a shame. My friend will try to sneak in the water bottle for today - doubt we will pass the security check. :(

Convenience and license costs (most vendors have to pay a license just to sell goods on the premises of the track).
Always try to take your own food and drink if possible to motorsport events to avoid this (major events like this you probably need to smuggle it in ;))

No unfortunately we're not allowed to bring our own foods and drinks to the event. But yeah, I understand why the cost is sky high over there. Thanks for the info mate ;)

I believe it would, he qualified on pole and then the penalty applies afterwards.
I'm probably wrong, but that's how I've always interpreted grid penalties.

The weather yesterday was really hot. There were signs of rain around 12:30 and 13:30 but by FP2, the sky were clear and the sun goes out again. The weather forecast for yesterday did mention that we may be in for some wet actions but it stayed dry for the rest of the day.

There's also a chance for some thunderstorm for today but the rain usually come from around 13:00 to 18:00. There's a chance that we may have a wet qualifying session today.

Are we in for a wet race? We'll see how it goes today. I'll try to update more for Sunday.

Yeah, we may be in for a wet qualifying.

I would tip any Mercedes powered car for a pole, but mostly the well-performing McLaren. Red Bull, I think is still finding those clues...

That's gonna be fun to watch, like it was during Spa last year that was an epic
quali.
 
If it rains i like renault powered cars chances as they seem to get better traction than the mercedes engined cars. If its dry the Mercedes engine power is a bit too strong at a track with long straights like here.

Mercedes did actually ask the FIA to take a look at (or, more accurately, take a listen to) Renault's engines. They suspect the Renault-powered cars are still using engine maps to drop cylinders under traction.
 
So, the Lotus hospitality unit burned due to a faulty fridge.

Guess Kimi won't be having any ice cream if he is out of the race early. :sly:

yeah i meantioned it earlier. I think the issue is there is a rule that says you cannot drop more than 4 cylinders and the renaults are dropping 6 cylinders...
The confusing bit comes when apparently i learned that the rule does not exist...but Mercedes complains....
 
So I see Williams have some flo-vis paint on the back of Senna's car. Very small but it looks like they may be testing out the aero work on the end of the ducting. Similar to what Merc GP have right now.

Also this may just be me, but I didn't see the vents/ducts on the top of the Merc GP last weekend. Nico's car had the small vent inlets that are positioned on the nose near the driver. Has this been there or is this another step in their fw-duct system?
 
A little over a tenth between 2nd and 7th. This is going to be a great Quali session. 👍

yep. Lotus, Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren look strong.


Mercedes has been playing down the F-duct advantage but i think that fdcut is going to net them a good starting position.

Doing the math, it looks like they will make it in if everyone equals their practice times. Karthikeyan is .3 under the 107% of Rosberg's 1:36.877.
 
I'm just glad I live on the west coast where staying up for qualifying won't be an issue. Feel sorry for anyone on the east coast. 4am is brutal.
 
yeah really! I think i am going to take a nap....This is ruining my sleep schedule for two days in a row(though its completely worth it to me)...I will have jetlag despite having not set foot near an airport let alone a plane...
 
Not staying up for qualifying or the race. I'll catch the race in replay, and I'll look up the results of qualifying.
 
Is it me or does F1.com promise rain for most races and then it magically doesn't happen?
 
Too soon to tell... First flyer for Felipe on mediums... Hm. HRT might just make it onto track tomorrow. First bit of good news for them all year...
