So does GTPlanet have anyone currently near the Pebble Beach/Laguna Seca area in California? The next car to be in the Gran Turismo series will be announced today when the awards are given.
Here is the stream: http://www.concoursdates.com/pebble-beach-live-video

Yamauchi is there, watch what car he chooses.

We know Kazunori Yamauchi will be showing up to give the award and there is a possibility of another Gran Turismo 6 demo with the last 3 winners showing up. And as we saw on the GT TV documentary about the Monterey Historics Race, Yamauchi also shows up there as well.

Is someone at GTPlanet going to be there to cover it? I think we had exactly two people show up to Goodwood so I am hoping our coverage will be a little better.

Posting the last 5 winners.

2012 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance Gran Turismo Award Winner: The Tour de France 4 cylinder Ferrari of last year

2009 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance Gran Turismo Award Winner: The brilliant handling TZ2 that I am sure we are all familiar with now.

2008 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance Gran Turismo Award Winner: And the Miura Bertone Prototipo, the first prototype and physical representation of the Miura owned by the Marriot family.

Sidenote: Was the Washburn Racing Corvette Z06 a winner as well? I am trying to figure out where that car came from because its not a big game changer like the Chaparrals so I wonder how it got added to GT4's roster (and thus GT5) to begin with. If you guys recall, GT4 cars like Bu'Wicked and the HPA Golf were SEMA winners, and the Option Stream Z and Trial Celica were TAS winners.

Seriously man...were do you get the notion that there would possibly be another demo??

Some people here really need to get a grip..jeezz....

Whatever, Mr P510. Italians don't definitively make the best cars.

I don't understand his comment. Duphman only mentioned that there could be another demo there. The main point is to see if anyone's attending. Regardless, anything can happen as we saw at the FoS. No one saw that coming (except for the member that posted about it a couple of months before it happened).

I'm not expecting a new demo from this.
But I'm expecting some great cars :D

I prefer these cars over those from SEMA.

I'm with Duphman, there's every possibility there will be a demo there.

Far too many narrow minded comments flying around.

Expect the unexpected and you might be prepared 👍.

Any car chosen is always an alien. Never fits in any car category. Never gets much attention.

.... s'why I love'm :sly:

I know what won't win ,a Porsche no matter how beautiful and utterly gorgeous it is.

It's not far fetched at all to expect a demo. I don't personally think they'd do a brand new demo for something with so little exposure compared to Gamescom or TGS but my guess is as good as any. I like that Kaz does this, however I think it has one little problem. Sadly, it gives us cars that are so unique that are basically not meant for racing. Look at the Alfa, there wasn't a single event in A-Spec where it felt at home, great car as it was. They should give us at least one direct competitor to the cars they pick, that way they're useful content and not just mouth-watering eye candy.

Expect the unexpected and you might be prepared 👍.

After GT5? Never again.

Why not?

Gran Turismo Trophy is awarded to the most significant car present that balances both artistic beauty and performance at the highest level and is most desired for inclusion in "Gran Turismo."

That doesn't exclude any Porsches.

Why not?

That doesn't exclude any Porsches.

If my memory does not fail me,one of the years there was an utterly sublime Porsche that we all loved but then a Camaro or something won(which was not as awesome)

That doesn't. Porsche's completely stupid and ridiculous licensing policy does.

Do Porsche say that their cars can't win the Gran Turismo award?

There would be problems with getting the car into Gran Turismo, but it's not a criteria for the award that the car must be eligible for inclusion in Gran Turismo. All it says is that the winning car "is most desired" for inclusion in Gran Turismo. I'm pretty sure Kaz is desiring Porsches as well, after all he owns a 911 GT3 himself.

You're probably thinking of SEMA. And I don't think that award is based on public opinion either.

As the Alfa Romeo Carrozzata da Zagato TZ2 and the Miura P400 Bertone Prototype were in GT5, I hope all the past and this years winners will be in GT6.

Well, the past winners are confirmed seeing that Yamauchi himself gives out the awards and the award includes the scanning and recreation of the Gran Turismo Award winner in-game.

As the game is supposed to be a virtual museum and a ways of exposing younger generations of car enthusiasts (Kaz's words) to a wide variety of cars, each special in their own way, the Gran Turismo Award is a great way to get this done and the cars' various owners are happy to participate.

So it looks like we will be getting two more cars to race (the Abarth and the Ferrari) in the Festival Italia event in Gran Turismo 6. Not entirely sure where the Plymouth would be raced.

Why not a event specific to Concours D'Elegance winners? PD needs more variety in their events but they leave cars like this untouched. Same thing could be done with SEMA winners.

I don't think GT needs more events comprising of what is effectively a random selection of cars, with a significant disparity in performance.

Indeed, those cars are probably nowhere near each other in terms of performance. What they could do, though, is to have a regularity rally event, where the performance of the car is more or less irrelevant.

Often, regularity rallies are held for owners of classic cars. Since regularity rallies do not involve high speed, classic cars are able to participate on an equal footing with other cars. Regularity rallying provides a practical and inexpensive sport for classic car enthusiasts.

Historic Rally Championship is featured in the FIA (Automobile International Federation) championship.

The Monte Shelton Northwest Classic Rally is the longest running classic car rally in North America. It has been held annually in Portland, Oregon since 1988.

The Cascade Classic Rally & Tour is a 4 day event held in Washington State and British Columbia in which participants travel over 400 miles over scenic back roads. The event has run annually since 1997 and is known for its fun and unique locations.

And they could do one make races with each car. It could be perfect as a special event. My point was the game needs variety and utilizing these cars could help. They need to do a better job of making it known what these cars are instead of just logo saying it was the winner when you open the dealership.

Don't know if I'm the only one watching the stream, but that Aston Martin DBR2 looks pretty nice. Would be a worthy winner.

That 1925 Aston Martin Grand Prix car is also great.

1960 Alfa Romeo Superflow IV, I'd take that one too please!
