Would the run-offs sloping downwards be dangerous? Only slightly, but enough to discourage running wide as the driver would be on adverse camber.

It would require digging up large parts of almost every circuit though. Just give them a drive through or grid drop if they are caught doing it. It would soon stop.

Yeah, financially I don't see much change happening at all to the current circuits. It's as simple as administering a rule and then adhering to it, but apparently that is too complicated.

Indeed 0.1 or 0.2 seconds a lap is a massive amount, over a race that could be 10 or 20 seconds.

Apparently Kimi's car failed post-qualifying inspection and he's been demoted to the back of the grid.

Lotus are probably just screwing him over now. Take the short wheel base chassis Kimi, you will be faster Kimi.

Kimi chose the short wheel base chassis because he felt more comfortable with it than the long wheel base, since it was more responsive and more to his liking.

I understand the FIA guys, apparently this (non regular floor due to damage from kerb impact) had already happened to Grosjean this year and Lotus got away with it. Apparently the FIA thinks they should've taken measures to avoid a repeat, and didn't, so this time the explanation was not accepted as "non-conformitt due to accident".

dhandeh, I understand sarcasm but that would make for an excellent conspiracy theory. I still prefer the "Webber sabotaged car" any day though :D

It really wont matter if Kimi decided to go through with what he said a couple days ago and not race the final two GP.

So it was a right-rear wishbone failure that caused Lewis to lose control of car: Link

I suppose it can be seen as a positive in a way, that it broke now instead of near beginning of race. Should be an interesting few laps, Nico Hulkenberg and Romain seem main threat for Mercedes.

Just going to say big ups to Eric Boullier for being able to handle all this Lotus drama without any mistakes.

Hopefully his gearbox is ok, as they generally are part of the same thing.

Track limit cheats solution.

White line is the limit and all four wheels must be within them, no kerbs at all, 1 metre real grass outside white line with 2 metre wide gravel trap outside that. Then you can have all the run off tarmac you want after that.

I think Romain vs Hulkenburg start will be nice. I believe Romain will get the better start though since he seems to have great starts.

Well I figured that there was a chance Vettel would lose the pole to either Webber or Lewis but I went for Vettel anyways and lost that one.

My predictions VET, HAM, WEB, ROS, GRO.

Let's see what happens tomorrow.

My solution to breaching track limits is to put a kitten beyond the (legal) apex of corners where the track limits are regularly breached. You wouldn't kill a cute little kitten, would you?

Well Vettel does dine on them :sly:

Enforcing the cutting rule is of course the obvious solution. They do it in the races when a driver gains an advantage overtaking but not in quali for some reason. All they had to do is in Q1 remove all the times for people going over, they'd have stopped doing it by Q3 if they did.

No way they would surrender valuable points just to screw Kimi over. They've got a good chance of at least catching Ferrari given their pace, having Kimi at the back isn't going to help that.

I'd take that for Lewis, dreading the tyre degradation for the Mercs.

The only team I can think of who'd screw over their driver that badly would be Andrea Moda.

That still means you have to modify nearly every circuit on the calender.

I meant do it to every track it can be done on.

As in get rid of the problem for good so no more arguing over track cutting.

Ferrari and Massa, he was a championship contender until they handed out the free passage slip to Alonso. Not saying the spring to head incident caused some of his pace to fade, but I think most do him unjust.

I've said many times whilst marshaling and watching each and every driver do it, after the curbs, have some flowers. That way, they are visible, and people don't want to crush pretty flowers.

Interesting qualifying. Both mercs messed up a little and now one of them will get stuck behind Hulkenberg AGAIN. Also, it was amusing to watch Vettel so angry after he looked at the time board at the end of the main straight. At least it shows he was actually trying. Maybe he would've gotten pole if it wasn't for the first corner but Mark's lap looked perfect anyway.

I was betting on Grosjean and both Mercs for this race but looks like the mysterious Abu Dhabi billionaire that bribes to sabotages certain cars to help his favourite driver did it again and ruined Grosjean's car. Ridiculous conspiracy theory, I know but when you look back at some of the weird **** that happened at Abu Dhabi it'd make a little sense.

I'd love it if Webber won the race but I really want Grosjean to do something. I hope Vettel gets stuck in dirty air behind someone for a 2nd time in the season. First being Monaco. Oh and as good as Hamilton is on this track I doubt he'll make his tyres last. He'll probably drop back unless he makes a super start.

The cars are 1.8 metres wide. They should have the white line, then 1.9m outside of the line, a concrete wall with glass embedded in it.
Or put landmines.

Maybe it wouldn't have broke if he hadn't gone sideways onto the kerb. After Massa's double failure at India a few years back I began to think F1 cars are a bit more fragile than they look.

Sucks that Kimi is at the back. Mabey he'll find some way to make up 15 places in a lap:dopey:
