Ah, right. And whose engine was it that powered the championship-winning car before the entire grid switched to V10, in 1998? Renault's as well, in 1997. Quite epic.

And then Seb goes and says they have "tremendous respect for each other."

Oh well... congratulations to Sebastian. Was a truly exceptional drive, but this race was all about Webber and Alonso's fight for those other two spots.
 
The German and Austrian anthem combination. It feels like they get longer in duration each time. :lol:
 
I won't miss them as much as the V10s that preceded them, but guess now is the time to say farewell to the V8s.

I think she would have done better if it was in Portuguese, she seemed to struggle with English a bit.

Is no-one going to mention that Chilton has finished every race this season?
 
Second in the race. Third in the championship. Not too shabby for a final outting. Have fun puking in a Porsche, Mark. 👍

I saw a Redbull cutting last corner as Massa did a couple of laps later. No drive through as far as I know. I will not bother next year with this Formula politics.
 
Today was a good race. I'm glad Jensen had such a great drive, considering how poorly the McLaren team have performed all year. It's not been the most exciting season, by far, but new records have been set and I'm looking forward to next season where we'll see the return of the Turbos and an almost complete revamp on who's sitting in what seat. I think is it Mercedes who aren't changing any of their drivers?
 
The 2012 race was better, but damn was lap 1 exciting. I'd say best lap 1 all season.

Right now I'm just flooded with emotions because I'm reflecting on the season and realizing how much of a journey this season has been. First full season for me, as I never knew of F1 or what channels to watch it on before last year.

Also, I think I finally get what makes some F1 races boring. It's the "perfection" they get with dry weather and easy to predict variables like tires and such. But when you get rain or the possibility of rain, tracks that favor some cars much more than others, and unpredictable surprises, then it's much easier for positions to be exchanged. When a race is dry, teams have their strategies worked out to perfection, and tracks allow for very fluent racing lap after lap, then sure, the spectacle can escape what we're viewing. It goes from watching racing to watching driving almost.
 
Congrats to Vettel for his 9th win in a row, and to Webber for finishing 2nd in his final race.

Also, congrats to Max Chilton for finishing all 19 races in his rookie season, and to Marussia for finishing 10th overall in the WCC.

I'm hoping we see a bit of a shake up next year, if Red Bull win both titles comfortably again next year then what's stopping them from keeping it up for the whole of the next era? I was disappointed over the Bottas and Hamilton incident, Bottas was wasting his tyres fighting with Lewis but he has said since the race that he didn't know that he wasn't racing Lewis. I enjoyed the race but for that, the Mclarens looked impressive for the first time in a long time.

I think Vettel has a very good chance of winning the driver title, but not so sure on the Constructor title as Ricciardo is a big question mark. Not to mention the other two major contenders have line-ups of Hamilton/Rosberg and Alonso/Raikkonen, Red Bull will have a hard time getting 5 straight in the constructors at least.

I also am not to sure on the second part, just look at McLaren's form compared to last years.

Exploding turbos sounds good, but I'll miss the V8 sound. V6 turbo at 15,000RPM can't beat V8 at 18,000 or V10 at 19,000! Neither can beat the V12s though!

We like to call that subjective banter, I'd say none of those can beat a BMW 4cylinder turbo in quali trim. However, it's all subjective.
