...with a 4-Cylinder.

Put this one on the "holy crap" list.

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/13/mercedes-benz-a45-amg-2-0-turbo-good-for-crazy-185-hp-per-liter/

The biggest news was the smallest news: a really hot-looking high-performance A-Class model dubbed A45 AMG that will take it to the soon-to-be tested BMW M135i and future Audi RS3. Specific numbers are not out, but engine bosses tell us to expect around 370 hp and 300 pound-feet of torque. The engine is all-new: a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter called M133 and based loosely on the Daimler 2.0-liter turbocharged unit. If those figures are accurate, that would mean the M133 has the greatest true series-production power-per-liter rating in the world.

That amount of power coming from an A Class (especially a 4 Cyl) is a bit over the top even from Mercedes - AMG. A25 makes sense though.

Bah, just get a srt4 with a Mopar stage 3 kit and it will probably be faster with a lot less money, hell its rated at 365 lb-ft, but ill take a BMW 1M over the Merc in a heartbeat

Post makes no sense.

Gah, see what happens when you search for a car with too many single letters.

Could've been worse.

2013 MB A45 AMG AWD - M133 4cyl 2.0L 370HP/300lbft w/ 7spd DCT!

And still, the German build car would be better.

A Mercedes or a Dodge... hmm...

And also, does the Evo VII FQ-400 count as a production car? Because that car produces 200+hp/liter.

Was limited production, no? Maybe it doesn't count because of that?

Yeah, but it's a Caliber. Which is a piece of plasticky junk.

Holy ****

They betta make this!!!
Its amazing just what the Merc and there A class needs "a crazy hot hatch"

Sure it has 370hp, but will it blend?

What if they make....

A Black version. Yes, I'll have some of that.

I half retract my statement. It makes sense but I don't think the name A45 AMG goes as the numbers usually stand for displacement. But it makes sense in opposing the RS3 and M135i.

Merc execs saw RS3 and M135 and figured they needed a higher number. Why not 45..

Right, and it has nothing to do with the fact that it's a 4-cylinder 5-door. ;)

Actually, it's called A45 because AMG exists 45 years.

So with that logic you're saying an S63 AMG is a 6-Cylinder 3-door?

Someone at Mercedes taking insanity pills.

Is that the official reason? Cool.

Mercedes abandoned logic when the 6.2L V8 came out.

The C63 AMG has '6.3' emblazoned in huge letters on the side, but it has a 6.2. It's because of 'tradition' apparently.

I'm interested to see how the A45 will fare against the RS3 and M135i. I never thought I'd be seeing Audi, Mercedes and BMW making hot hatches 5 years ago...

Yes. :)

I think a new subsegment is popping up here. Right now, the hot hatch segment covers cars from the Golf GTI up until the Audi RS3. But compared to an RS3/M135i/A45, I really don't think a car like the GTI can be compared even remotely. Already, the segment is split in three: at the bottom end you have cars like the GTI, in the middle there's cars like the Megane RS/Focus ST/Golf R/Scirocco R and at the top end you have the RS3/M135i/A45. So that's 'lukewarm', 'warm' and 'hot' hatches I guess. :D

No. Warm, Hot, and Bloody Stupid Mental Deathblenders hatches...

I'd love to see this beast in 3-door form. :D
