It'd look probably exactly the same, but with the pillar moved back and the front door made larger. Not much difference i'd think - at least that's what I think Mercedes would do.
 
Still cooler looking than 5-door.

The C63 AMG has '6.3' emblazoned in huge letters on the side, but it has a 6.2. It's because of 'tradition' apparently. :lol:

It was that way, but they threw it out the window again. The current x63 lineup uses a 5.5L twin-turbocharged V8.

This is the Volvo way.. ;)

An i.e Volvo 960 (960 is the name for all 960's), but in the car specs, it says:
965 for the Station Wagon, and 964 for the Sedan.

That's car-model: 9
Number of Cylinders: 6
Number of doors: 4/5

The last car Volvo produced with this type of name was the 850 (That later became V70) in the mid 90's.

To relate to GT5, there's an old Wagon called "245".. Model 2, 4 cylinders and 5 doors. 👍



Nowadays, the Volvos are only named with C (Coupe), S (Sedan), V (Wagon)or XC (Cross Country).
And the numbers following the latter is the models number. The bigger car, the bigger number.
C30
V50
S80
XC60
XC90
and so on. 👍


But it's ofc not impossible for another manufactor to use the same method, but I doubt Mercedes want to replicate Volvo in any way. :lol:

Ferrari worked that way right until the 80's where some were just named ie - 360.. otherwise it was displacement and cylinders.

A lot of car manufacturers use similar ways to name cars - like BMW, although the 3.0L are now even called x35's and x40's...
 
Don't Peugeots have a similar naming scheme?

It seems all nice and tidy until you get to the D24 engined 240s in general, B27 engined 240 GLTs, B230FT engined 760s, B204GT engined 960s... but in general, you're right. :p

(got a B230F 240 '92 and a B230FT 940 '98 of my own)

But that's enough OT and moving on...
 
Sounds pretty similar to the 2014 Dart SRT4 specs.

Funny you say that.

I was on the UK launch of the A-Class just yesterday. Several of the assembled hacks remarked that while they liked the styling in general, the rear isn't very distinctive at all. Several mistook it for other cars later in traffic.

From the design presentation, I got the impression that the back end is all about the aerodynamics. The A-Class has a drag coefficient of 0.27, which is very low for the class.

I totally agree, the car has no brand identity, even if the three pointed star was shown. I guess Mercedes have really stepped out the boat with this design to attract people - and I can say that the rear isn't very attractive at all. :lol:
 
Chris Harris commented on Piston Heads that although it uses a fairly simple 4WD system, the A45 still felt adjustable (from the passenger seat) after he got a ride in one... and the engineer said to him tht this was a key priority for them.

But Merc face a big challenge with this model... pricing.

BMW have priced the 135iM ultra competitively (they start at c.£30k and it has decent standard kit), making the RS3 at close to £40k seem stupidly expensive... Merc now have a tough decision to make.

I actually like the design of the car. In the place where I work, 3 guys already own this car (one has a AMG package from what I can tell, sadly no A250 AMG Sport) and in reality, this car looks much better then on picture.

Yesterday, when I was driving home at evening, a grey Mercedes came down the street. First I thought it was a CLS because of its huge grill and LED headlights... but it was an A-class lol

I already fell in love with this car, it looks so aggressive, especially when you compare it to the current gen 1-series (which I find pretty boring to be honest) or A3.

Also, the CLA is coming out in early 2013... The coupe version of this car aka little brother of the CLS (in germany with a entry price tag of 27k€).
 
I just can't get over how ugly it is, performance be damned. Yeah, the new M-fiddled 1'er is an odd, googly-eyed little thing; but that's acceptable. The 1's always been ugly :p

This manages to be ugly from the back and anonymous, which I suppose is a feat for Merc.
 
In the A's defense, it does look better in colours other than yellow:

It would like good in blue, black, silver, and red.

Nothing in too bright in tones though.
 
How about white with black spoiler, black rims, black side mirrors and black front/rear lips?
 
As the pictures loaded. I honestly thought for a second, I was looking at a renault megane. :lol:

Quite like the styling though and as hfs pointed out, it does look much better in other colours.

White always looks good on anything by default. The black add ons make it more aggressive.👍

That's not the A45 AMG, for reference, just a 1.5 diesel with an AMG kit. And that's on the European fuel cycle - knock 15-20% off that to get an EPA equivalent.

That said, in some of these new things, 60mpg isn't out of the question cruising along at 65-70mph now. With seven (or 8, or 9, or however many they have now) gears, diesel versions are often turning over at 1,500rpm or so using barely any fuel.
