Why do I get the feeling that someone (NASCAR, Gibbs, sponsors, etc) pushed Hamlin not to appeal so this problem would go away?

By not appealing, Hamlin's going to pay the fine, even if it means paying involuntarily via automatic removal from his next race's winnings. He should have appealed if he didn't want to pay it.

By not appealing, it puts an end to the discussion of the penalty that shouldn't have been.
 
I look at his decision not to appeal as Hamlin's way of saying:

"It was well worth my $25,000 to destroy NASCAR in the court of public opinion for the last week."

And in the grand scheme of things, $25,000 isn't much for a cup driver/team. I'm glad Denny didn't give in to them. Someone has to stand their ground on their opinions, and for once it wasn't from the mouth of Brad K, who I get the feeling that he does those things just for the attention. I don't remember him being fined for his newspaper interview, and he said a ton more worse things than Denny did in regards to NASCAR.
 
NASCAR will do as they wish and if they take it from his winnings isn't huge but he stood his ground!

Well, we already had a Viagra car (which even had an age appropreate driver :lol:) so its only a matter of time.

That's at least the second time that's happened. I can't remember what it was I was watching a couple weeks back, but I saw the same thing. Someone with Mark's picture. I thought that was quite strange. :lol:
