Denny gave him plenty of room, he didn't pinch him down at all. The issue isn't so much that they were racing hard and wrecked at all. Sure people overreacted then and blame Joey or Denny for whatever reason but the comments after the rare regardless were where issue was and makes people assume Joey wrecked him on purpose.

This would have blown over alot faster if Joey just said something to nature of, I drove it in too deep to try to get a run and got into Denny. The whole thing is bigger now and more people dislike Joey over it, I'm sure some will race him different now.

My comment is toward Joey giving some room to Denny...we know denny gave room to joey. Since I was talking about Joey's action I thought that would have been clear, I never say Denny was pinching Joey at all.

Anybody ready to admit Earnhardt Jr's struggles recently (past 5 years) were due to the COT not matching his driving style?

Nah I think it was the addition of letarte that made him better.

lmao

Any chance Chip Ganassi could get a third car to move him up to Cup (in say, 2-3 years), or would Montoya or McMurray have to lose their job to make that happen?
No the question is...would they bring back the #8 for him?!

I don't even think he intended to wreak denny. Hamlin wrecked himself trying to wreck Joey.

In my honest opinion, Joey tried to wreck Denny, and Denny decided that if he was going, Joey was going to go with him. Just two guys fighting for a win. 1979 Daytona 500 is the same exact thing. Two guys wanted the win, and if one wasn't going to get it, they made sure the other wouldn't get the win either. Just racing. I do feel bad for Denny though. I hope he comes back and can land a wild card spot in the chase.

From JGR: Hamlin out for at least six weeks.

And just like that, my prediction of Hamlin winning the cup goes away.

Perhaps Vickers and Sadler could share the #11 until Hamlin recovers?

Spare a thought for Denny Hamlin. I read he'll be on the shelf for about six weeks after his brutal wreck. It's going to hurt in the points since he's currently 10th in the Cup standings. I respect Denny Hamlin, so it's sad for him to be banged up.

I doubt he intended to break Hamlin's back.

That's a given, however it's quite clear the intention was for Joey to wreck Denny.
A lot of people have made a tonne of excuses for Joey, saying he overdrove the car, saying he just got loose, saying it wasn't intentional.
Clearly it was intentional, but beyond that we don't really know.

I've never really liked either of them, but the way Joey has handled this makes me despise him even more.

Here's an interesting question. If Hamlin and Logano switched positions, would Hamlin have done the same?

Also, I must add that the finish reminds me of another one:

When you compare the two, Brad gave Vickers more room that Hamlin did to Logano. Not saying Hamlin did anything wrong, but when you have a rival on your inside, why go that far down, knowing that often makes the inside car loose, and risk having him slide into you, since those mad at you would be less inclined to lift? Worse, he left the outside wide open for Kyle.

Well, if anybody doubts Logano did it on purpose (and can see past Jimmy Spencer's tyrade), the radio snippet in this may change a view or two.

I wouldn't listen to that moron's perspective if it was going to pay the bills for the rest of my life. Jimmy Spencer is the same person that back in 04 claimed Dale Junior was cheating due to how many super speedway plate races he was winning, and how many great finishes he was getting that year alone. At the end of the day, yet again I must say this. Joey did not do the wreck on purpose you can see that from how the car came off of turn three to four. Joey is just pandering to the media (originally) and acting tough due to Hamlin wrecking via hard racing. Basically he didn't wreck him on purpose, but wants to look like a tough guy to all others that might think to bully him. We will most likely see Stewart wreck him and that I can assure you will be on purpose.

Him pretending to be some tough guy and say "Yeah I got him" due to a cause and effect of hard racing I find asinine. The only video that should really settle this is an in car, or above view, not some snippets of radio talk or interview...that's just tough guy BS.

EDIT: Also since Spencer never makes much sense, he got something else wrong. There was clear radio message from Joey and in car view of him shutting the car on and off to cool it down. Joey knew the car was going to blow, the way Spencer puts it is wrong in saying "you didn't know your car was blowing up". It's the end of the race, you're in the lead and the engine needs to be reworked either way, so it is ideal to run it hard because if you don't you just purposely gave up the win in a car that is going to be different, next weekend.

Also Denny has an issue, with spatial awareness it would seem. Like when blaming Austin Dillion last year saying he pushed him down, when clearly the 43 and Dillon's 3 were have a close battle and Dillion had to go low didn't see Hamlin. But Denny didn't care and like usual thought he was under fire, just like he did at Bristol two weeks ago, thus angering another driver. Yet let's put political correctness spin on the situation and not bring Denny's faults to light because of his situation...

Can't Hamlin still make the chase on owner's points? I heard it on Racehub last night, but I didn't fully understand it.
Owner points are separate from driver points in that it takes all results of the car in mind rather than just a driver. Gibbs hasn't won a Nationwide drivers championship in years but they usually take home the owners trophy.
As of right now, I believe the 55, 51, and 11 would all be in the owner Chase if it started tomorrow.

Even if Hamlin misses a bunch of rounds, he could theoretically snatch a Chase spot by climbing to the top 20 with a good bunch of wins.

And wow, it would indeed appear to me that the 51 team is currently 9th in owners' points. Gotta give them (and particularly AJ) credit for consistency.

Consistency even with the driver lineup. Its absolutely nuts.

Ahh the owners championship... also known as the "Joke" Championship.

FAS Lane gets full time sponsor Oxywater for 3 years.
Not even a week later, the IRS is after the founders of Oxywater :p

A joke championship? Hmm. I missed the memo to that one press release where it was declared the joke championship.
