Instead of bashing or supporting JJ I'm going to talk about something else. Did anyone else see the roof flaps and hood flaps on a couple wrecks such as Kahne and Truex come flying off the car while they were sliding sideways. It wasn't noticed by anyone during the broadcast but with the recent rash of illegal flaps found on the cars during the inspections before the weekend started, does anyone think that those parts were illegal again and broke. If not I think NASCAR may need to look into how they're mounted since it could be a big safety concern if they break and the cars then become airborne.

The flaps are not vet strong. I've noticed that many times this season that when a car is sideways the flaps will break off (especially the hood flaps)

Oh really I haven't noticed it until just last night. I can see the hood flaps breaking easy though due to their large size and amount of air they displace when elevated

I noticed Truex's hood flaps flying in the wind. It seems that defeats the purpose if they can't stay attached to slow a car because I don't remember their being a problem before now.

The reactive stance NASCAR takes on safety dictates no changes will be made unless a big name driver gets seriously injured or killed (Earnhardt Sr.). By the way, did anybody notice that Denny Hamlin hit yet another wall not covered by SAFER barrier? 👎

I'm not trying to pick a fight here, but it just seems like at this point you're now just picking out things wrong with NASCAR. As I said, you could easily choose not to even watch the races anymore if they are that boring to you, if the sport seems like it will never change and if its that bad to you and yet you choose to continue to watch it, seemingly to complain about something else. It makes about as much sense as constantly declaring that you hate s celebrity yet you choose to attend any event just to heckle the hell out of them instead of ignore them.

I got fed up with Cup last year and didn't want to watch amymore of the Cup season so I actually stopped watching it all the way to the final race.

Racecar - who in the world are you talking to? I never said I hated NASCAR or even JJ, I just have issues with cocky people. I've let it go, so lets move on to something else.

As far as flaps, I was asking a serious question as It just seems kind of weird to break off when they are supposed to help slow a car down or keep from flipping. Am I missing something here?

I wasn't talking about you, I was responding to RVDNuT374 and reffering to his posts that almost every week seem to revolve around how bad NASCAR is and how the racing is boring yet he continues to watch it only to again, complain and start the whole thing over.

Gordon will run this at Michigan, I approve.👍

Another sponsor 99.999% of the people watching at home or at the track will have no clue what it is. The company may have plenty of money to bank roll sponsorship on the 24, but they have ZERO brand recognition to the general public at large.

Oops, I will go stand in corner for awhile!

I have no idea what they are about but can we stop using the same flames on his car. Holy moly the designs today are so lazy!

I live in Michigan and I can't even think about what the company could possibly be. Someone want to explain it

Some like the flames because they are unique to his car. I'd personally like to see the "Rainbow" design back.

Standox is a paint/automotive finishes company. Remember the blue WRC Subarus? That's Standox.

I like that they implemented a new scheme instead of recycling the last DuPont one(again), and the flames are a bit played out, I prefer the striping on the AARP car, but I've yet to hear anything beyond the sponsorship about the company. At least give us a crappy ad to work with.

On July 24, NASCAR Trucks will rock Eldora. It is going to be very interesting to see one of NASCAR's top three Touring Series take on a track like Eldora. I'm pretty sure it won't be as if Nationwide and/or Cup will want to race Eldora (or even Knoxville). I know the race is two weeks away, but I am very interested to see how the NASCAR Trucks will take on Eldora.

--- NEXT FIVE RACES ---
So let me take a little time to take a look ahead at the next series of races for each of the top series. Here's a little outlook...

NEXT FIVE RACES - NASCAR TRUCKS
* JUL 13 - Iowa
* JUL 24 - Eldora
* AUG 3 - Pocono
* AUG 17 - Michigan
* AUG 21 - Bristol

NEXT FIVE RACES - NASCAR NATIONWIDE:
* JUL 13 - New Hampshire
* JUL 21 - Chicagoland
* JUL 27 - Indianapolis
* AUG 3 - Iowa
* AUG 10 - Watkins Glen

NEXT FIVE RACES - NASCAR CUP:
* JUL 14 - New Hampshire (TNT Summer Series 2013 finale)
* JUL 28 - Indianapolis (ESPN/ABC takes over from here)
* AUG 4 - Pocono
* AUG 11 - Watkins Glen
* AUG 18 - Michigan

--- CURRENT LEADERS ---
This is the NASCAR thread, so that means more than just the top three series. How about we see the current leaders:

* Cup: Jimmie Johnson
* Nationwide: Regan Smith
* Trucks: Matt Crafton

And now, current 2013 leaders in other NASCAR series:

* Pro East: Dylan Kwasniewski
* Pro West: Derek Thorn
* Whelen Modified: Ryan Preece
* Whelen Southern Modified: George Brunnhoelzl, III
* Canadian Tire: D.J. Kennington
* Mexico: Rubén Garcia, Jr.
* Whelen Euro: A. Vilarino

I was going to include the current leader in NASCAR's iRacing standings, but I couldn't pull anything up on that. That's all from me. Keep this NASCAR rock rolling, folks! :) And all congratulations to Jimmie Johnson and all other NASCAR winners from this past weekend's races.

I'm pretty sure that same could be said about many sponsors in many motorsports. Did you know what Quicken Loans was before they Sponsored Ryan Newman? Were you aware of Muscle milk before their brief stint with JGR and Matt Dibenedetto and eventually the ALMS Sponsorship? I'm pretty sure there are many that even you weren't aware of before they sponsored a car.

Which is why you do things like sponsor a race car.💡

Exactly. Many brands are well known precisely because of their racing sponsorships.

No one wants a TV made by a calculator company.

DLP is a calculator company? That's new to me.

RACECAR, DLP is made by Texas instruments which is known for their calculators (TI-84 for example). DLP basically fell by the wayside the past few years.

Quicken Loans is and has been advertising heavily on FNC and Talk Radio long before they were on the 39. If Coke didn't pick up Vitamin Water and Pepsi ink a deal with Muscle Milk, neither would be in nearly every gas station and convenience store.

Anyone every see a "Lowes" store? What's that "Cheerios" thing all about? FedEx goes passed my house every few days, UPS practically every day. Unfortunately Zaxby's is really good but it's very it is very much limited to the South. Jimmie Johns subs are all over the place now. Weird corporate products that have zero brand recognition is a waste, this paint company or blend (most likely a subsidiary of DuPont) that is going to be on the 24 will not become a household brand....ever.

I had Dish Network long before they advertised on Roush's cars and at Coors Field :p

Buuuut, have you heard of either sponsor before now? :sly:

Ah but unless you drove around and found them (at least in my area), you didn't know what they were. I literally had no idea what Jimmie John's was until it was on Kevin Harvick's Nationwide car and only then have they recently started showing commercials.

You say that but lets not forget Camping World. That company was as far as I'm aware not a huge name until they came to Nascar. They sponsored several cars (mainly from KHI) and then boom!, they became a series sponsor (for the Pro series first, then the Trucks). The point of a new company entering IS to build Brand Recognition. It worked for Z-Line Designs and Gamestop so why not for this company and especially with a big name like Jeff Gordon and Hendrick Motorsports?

The only reason I knew of Jimmy John's was from some heaven drinking days with girl I was seeing who partied every weekend at local college, they were open til 3 am and decent drunk food (I like them now too).

You know their marketing plan is already working as your asking what is it, probably googled and saw. They did their job perfectly and that's all a sponsor needs to do Is plant the seed to allow fans to find out.

I indicated I did. Quicken is not a "new" mortgage company. They ARE new to NASCAR. I knew of Muscle Milk from other sports, not NASCAR.

Z-Line makes HD furniture, one is holding my wife's TV. They make "consumer"'products. Plus Z-Line makes furniture under a different name sold at Walmart.

My point is, the oddball sponsors on the 24 are nowhere near relevant to consumers. Sure they have deep pockets, who cares though if nobody is buying your product. That product is targeted at repair shops and such, not us.

I didn't say they were.

Yep they do. By being in NASCAR though, they introduced themselves to a new audience in the NASCAR fans.

Its all about exposure and seeing as this brand is new like its parent company Axelta, they are doing a lot of brand exposure in order to bring awareness to their company. I get that they have no brand reconition, that's why this is happening so that changes over time.

One thing to ad here, Dave, Axalta is the DuPont Automotive Finishes brand we have known. I know of them, I've seen nothing from them aside from the announcement that the branch of the company had been bought and was to be renamed way back around January IIRC.

Also, when did Muscle Milk get into NASCAR? But I do have another little-known sponsor. State Water Heaters, they replaced Kodak on the Morgan-McClure #4 up to the team's demise. It was a much easier deal 20...30...40 years ago to put you're company on a decent car and get some exposure, going by the Jr. situation, I'd be willing to say most companies advertising budgets wouldn't get much more than a sticker about the size of your hand for the season, and maybe an associate deal for a single event.

So people that own repair shops don't watch NASCAR?:confused:

What about Bell/Cessna, Caterpillar, Sany, SKF and a few other companies that have sponsored cars, yet don't really have products most people even know about/actually buy?

All those things are aimed at those particular sectors of the business world, I'm not going to be rushing out to buy a tractor, but someone that owns a construction business may see Sany on the #7 and decide to see what they have to offer.
