I agree with Mustang, SHR is just renamed HMS cars.

I wouldnt go that far. JJ has been dominate, and all of the Hendrick cars have done well, with Kahne and Gordon having some terrible luck, while Stewart and Newman both had slow starts and only caught up recently.

Just because they had a slow start doesn't mean anything about the equipment being of HMS branding. All it takes is one person from that team to prove dominance and JJ is doing that and the other Hendrick drivers being in chase standing also proves that HMS is the dominate group.

This is the sport that put arguably its biggest "cheater", Junior Johnson, into its Hall of Fame...... first class.

And the thing is money drives every racing series, you don't become better by just adding a driver usually so I'm actually ok with teams pushing the limit or finding loop holes. Is it fair, probably not but no one said it had to be.

This is what i like about NASCAR. the cars are put it a box and teams push the boundaries to go faster. Which has been a part of NASCAR from the start, faster, not always newer technology.

So anyone else think BK will win the championship this year? He's in good shape to make the chase this year, and will probably have a run like Stewart did in 2002.

No he's not, he is only 11 points ahead of 11th with no wins.

Yeah but there is some hope for BK loyal fans in seeing him 8th in points currently to be fair. Though his "real" favorite driver wont be making it into the Chase, I think I can safely say that.

FS1 is going to kick off (commandeer) SPEED at 6am (Eastern) with a rerun of Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.

Jamie Mac just blowed up in practice!!! On 11 laps

So regarding the Nationwide race in Mid-Ohio, what kinda of lap times are you guys expecting them to make? Initially I was thinking of using the Continentals Series cars as refferences since they are (supposedly) around the same weight, but the downforce and tires would cause a huge difference between the two.

Wouldn't you know it, Montoya went 2nd fastest in today's first practice session.

Well this is new to me. Was looking for who was driving the 51 this weekend. Just watched qualifying....

AAAAAANDD its Gaughn. (lets see who gets that joke/Reference)

Also, anyone else think Austin getting the ride might be slightly sponsor related? He is, like Tony, Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops.

If the Cup cars can run nearly 204 mph average (215+ into turn 1) in qualifying around Michigan , then why won't NASCAR open up the plates and let them run that speed at Daytona and Talladega?

You know.. This may be a dumb answer and really don't intend it to be, but I had the privellage to ride along in a NASCAR at Daytona for 3 laps. Was only 160MPHish and without any other cars on track. It was the most powerful G-s I have ever felt, couldn't even imagine how much force it could be at 210MPH... Let alone 240. That's without 42 other people for 400 Miles (or more) I knew it was difficult to drive a NASCAR, but I have all new respect for those drivers. If anyone here gets a chance to do a ride along, there is nothing else like it. Anyway back on topic, I don't think the drivers could take that many G's for ~4 hours, it doesn't seem possible to me

A little bit of South Park, perhaps?

If P2 is not allowed to beat P1 to the start line, it's damned senseless to "start" before the .... "start" line.

Dammit, Buescher wins. No better way to start off the launch of the network I hate then a win by a driver I hate :grumpy:

Well, all congratulations to James Buescher. "Rowdy" Busch just didn't have enough. I'm sure if you dislike Rowdy and James Buescher, picking either to win would be either "pick your poison" or "the lesser of two evils."

Nationwide about to get turned loose at Mid-Ohio shortly. I'm sure this will be a good one on one of America's finest race tracks.

Just about to mention that.

Michael Mcdowell is on the pole for this race.
