Watching Ricky Bobby, unrated version has 20 extra minutes.

NASCAR owns the numbers, not the teams.

If this were truly the case, NASCAR would have caved to fan pressure and retired the 3 ten years ago.

Some teams are actually allowed to own font styles of numbers, like RCR and the #3.

Owning a font is one thing, but RCR doesn't own the number. No one runs it out of respect, nor the 43 but every other number is pretty much up for grabs overall.

The 00 has been on a few cars, which brings me back to Buckshot Jones, I can careless what number anyone runs (not really a fan of 60s or 70s) but not my call.

^ This.

The 43 is still used by RPM though

Orange Cone says that Junior will be sponsored by JEGS in a big deal that will include a K&N Pro series ride for a younger driver via JRM starting next year.

What exactly is there to doubt, it's even on their site.

As to your actual point, when has NASCAR ever done what the fans want?(apart from meaningless(probably staged) fan voting)

The fans don't have a say in the numbers.

Besides, as long as Childress keeps buying the rights to his number each year, no one else can use it, same goes for the 28 (although I'm not sure if Robert Yates is still doing that). And, if the 43 wasn't being used by RPM, I don't think the Petty's would stop anyone from using it.

Edit so as to not double post: It's just been announced that Justin Allgaier will be in the 51 when Harry Scott gets the team in September.

So as I suspected, its Turner Scott Motorsports. Somehow, I'm not surprised.

Anyone know how to get to the entry list for the truck race? I went on NASCAR.com for about 2 minutes and decided I don't want to go there ever again. Horrible site.

Go to Jayski, click on the truck series on the top, and you'll find it.

Just to nitpick slightly, it's not TSM that made the deal.

The team will operate separate from Turner Scott Motorsports, and TSM co-owner Steve Turner is not part of the deal, according to a news release from the team.

Oh? That's interesting. Was under the impression it was the moment I read Harry Scott, but that's abit of a surprise.

Yeah. Sad news for the former NASCAR Cup champion (and fellow Texan) Bobby LaBonte. Hope he recovers soon. I don't know what it's like to have broken ribs (and hopefully never experience that). Worst injury of any kind I can remember was spraining my ankle. Absolutely no fun at all.

Wrong Labonte

I made the changes to my previous post.

As I mentioned previously... Nationwide and Cup at Atlanta for some night racing while the Trucks take on Mosport. I'd say in the track variety department this season, NASCAR Trucks win by miles. You can't argue with Eldora and Mosport. I know NASCAR has been king with oval racing for decades, but there's just something about NASCAR road racing that is great to watch.

As for Atlanta, I actually like Atlanta Motor Speedway. Very fast track to me. Nothing boring about it... unless you prefer NASCAR racing at Road Atlanta (which I wouldn't mind) as far as Atlanta-area racing is concerned. Atlanta will be a challenge as per usual.

Is it just me or is there no coverage of this week's Truck race outside the race itself? (like Qualifying or practice)

Wouldn't want a live event getting in the way of a re-airing of UFC.

Or boxing.

Or Fox Sports Live

Or soccer.

Or poker.

Right, nevermind the fact that there's that second channel that could be used for it.

I don't think their contract allows them to show NASCAR on SPEED2, or FS2 for that matter.

That's weird because they showed Bristol Qualifying on FS2 (as well as the Modifieds) race last week.

ESPN focuses too much on NBA, FOX Sports 1 focuses too much on UFC.

:odd:

Brad says the new tire will make more side by side racing! I hope he's right! It's the future of the sport of NASCAR! Everything happens in 3's, Hamlin got hurt, tony got hurt and now labonte.
