I think Montoya is winning a short track coming up. He should of won Richmond and he's very good at Martinsville, where it pays to be aggressive.

He also had a chance to win Bristol until he was caught speeding.

He also had a chance to win Bristol until he was caught speeding.

And even then battled back.

He still has one more chance at Richmond and Dover coming up, where he nearly won twice earlier this season. I'm betting Stewart won't beat him this time at Dover. He's also better than most people realize at Martinsville and New Hampshire.

Well Stewart is out for the season :dopey:

Montoya's strongest point has always been Short Tracks along with with Road Courses. I wouldn't count plate races really in that as although EGR used to have a good plate package, lets face it - if FRM can win a plate race, and Scott Speed and Michael McDowell can record high finishes in the Daytona 500, they don't mean that much or give an indicator.

Wasn't Speed's high finish at Talladega, not Ga Daytona? :dopey:

If Truex Jr. needs to get out of the car because of his wrist, we'll see just how good Scott Speed is.

Meanwhile Montoya has had bad luck, otherwise he'd have multiple wins on multiple ovals by now.

Yeah, that was the joke. :dunce:

You missed the most obvious one. Who has only one top ten finish all season? I'll give you a hint, it happened in the Daytona 500...

Tony Stewart was eating away her bumper that day.

J.J. Yeley. (IIRC)

Danica of course :)

^Isn't that the swimsuit model? I didn't know she drives cars too!

Some said she drove for SHR - I thought she was in a TBR #10 car, it performs like one :dopey:

It performs like a Hendrick car, but unfortunately they couldn't find a driver for it.

What do you say we turn 43 stock cars loose around Atlanta Motor Speedway? That's what is on tap tonight with the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Best of luck to all drivers and teams tonight in Hampton, GA.

Results of practice #3 for the truck series.

Chase Elliott tops the time sheet this time with a 1'21.063, 2nd place was Mike Skeen who was 0.351 slower.

I wouldn't be surprised if the pole time drops into the 1'20 range. Qualifying is 5pm tonight.

No coverage until the scheduled race time tomorrow.

Nationwide practice/qualifying has(will) been(be) on FS2 today.

Rumor is that FRR will switch to Ford and become a satellite team for Penske Racing. The driver will be Sam Hornish Jr.

I haven't heard this rumor at all, I heard they were thinking about Toyota.

This whole FS1/FS2 deal is going to blow up in their faces :sly: when they realize that the ratings will be even lower due to many people not willing to pay $10/month for essentially one channel. 👎

They don't even offer a way to view it online. Not that I'd be able to because I don't know the account for the cable access for sites like NBC Sports Live Extra and SPEED 2. :dunce:

Edit: There are lots of rumors regarding FRR and the #78. One of them I heard was involving Ty Dillon, and that came from a source that's been correct with previous 2014 signings.

Ty Dillon hasn't even run full time in NW yet. That seems too early.

I doubt it would be full time. Austin Dillon has been running part time since he was moved up to the Nationwide Series. I doubt it would fall that way... but with both Mark Martin and Bobby Labonte out of rides, and with one, or both, of them possibly looking for part-time rides next year, I wouldn't rule that possibility out.

Of course, if FRR does change manufacturers, that scenario won't happen.

Doubt it will be full time, will likely follow a similar part time deal Austin had this year while he is in Nationwide if that actually happens.

Meanwhile, Truck Series qualifying is near ended, but here's the results of the final practice from earlier today.

1-2 for Chase Elliott and Mike Skeen once again. Similar times to practice 3 as well.

Edit: Just checked twitter and James Buescher got the pole for the race tomorrow. Will post the results when they are available.

Have those two been the only drivers to get those times?

Yes, no one else has really been close. I'm wondering what time Buescher ran to get the pole.

I dont trust the cable access stuff online, I've tried it several times for ESPN3 and not dice.

So Austin will get a chance at RCR but not Ty? Perhaps they want to see if he can pull a Kurt Busch in the 78 before the big teams take him?
