Thanks for clarifying, MustangRyan. I mostly got into racing in 1998 and followed NASCAR starting in 1999. I just remember Jeff Burton the most in regards to the Exide colors. I still think the 2002-ish Ford Taurus is one of the best-looking modern stock cars of all time before these Gen-6 cars came along, and I especially consider the Chevrolet Gen-6 cars to be the best looking.

But once again, thanks for the clarification on the Exide cars. 👍

Can't post pic as I am on mobile. But the Citgo car that Burton drove in 2003 I always liked.

And no wonder the Faded Blue-to-pink was brough back, they are celebrating 125 years.

Jeff Burton drove an Exide #99 Ford for Jack Roush. But before that, Geoff Bodine drove the Exide #7, for Geoff Bodine Racing. Geoff Bodine Racing was just a renamed version of Alan Kulwicki Racing, which Geoff purchased after Kulwicki's untimely death.

Geoff's car did have the blue to pink fade coloring from front to back, as seen below.

Exide moved over to Burton, and stuck with him a lot longer. He had a lot of different Exide paint schemes, which started out fading from pink to blue (going in reverse of Geoff's scheme), and evolved over time.

Geoff also ran the same scheme in the #7 truck in the 96/97 season i think.

i'm trying to recall when the last time this has happened. 1993 napa 500 was the last time the #43 did not even attempt to qualify for a race.

The last time the #3 or the #43 both did not qualify for a race? Eons ago.

Well, I have to say, Jr isnt bad at Martinsville... But I dont think "not bad" will cut it. Hes had so many good runs at Martinsville, but bad luck or faster guys usually steal it from him.

So, apparently, Corey LaJoie was indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for something that he recently tweeted on Twitter.

"Is it stereotyping to ask TSA to cavity search the gentleman with a turban and a gray beard? I didn't think so." - Corey LaJoie

He also recently tweeted this. "I am very sorry for those offended by my recent remark. It was an immature & insensitive comment. I am upset with myself and how this has affected what has been a very positive year in my career."

I really don't like how NASCAR can suspend a driver for something he said on twitter. It seems like they are controlling the drivers' lives more and more.👎

I'd mark it as insensitive and I completely understand where he is coming from. NASCAR's indefinite suspension is very troubling though here.

Welcome to the modern world of corporate branding. NASCAR doesn't want to be perceived as an old southern sport full of racist rednecks, because of what one minor-league driver said on his own twitter account. So, NASCAR punishes the driver to send a message to everyone else in the sport. The message is: Do not in any way make yourself look foolish, because it might cost us corporate sponsorship dollars.

I was ok was NASCAR suspending people for possibly offensive comments made by someone in public, but doing so for comments on twitter? That's just pathetic, NASCAR doesn't own Twitter so they don't control people lives. They're more worried about losing their sponsorship dollars then the very fans they are still losing.

I can't stand it when people are suspended for comments labeled as "offensive". Anyone heard of free speech?

Unfortunately in this society, the Bill Of Rights is as worthless as used toilet paper. 👎

The Bill of Rights only protects you from the government, it doesn't protect you from private companies/organizations. That's why things like the AUP can exist on forums like this one.

That being said, this pretty much puts the final nail in the coffin for me being a major fan of NASCAR. It's bad enough I can't watch the second half of the season because it's on pay tv(only going to get worse in 2015), now you have the Richmond scandal, adding spots to the chase that don't belong and suspending drivers for an opinion(when a sit-down chat would have been enough).

I wouldn't worry too much about the added Chase spot, it's not like you can possibly make the whole concept any worse than it already is (except maybe awarding no extra points for race winners in the beginning of the Chase...).

You all do know that EVERYONE pays attention to social media, don't you? How many times has the NFL taken action against players who don't think before they send. An indefinite suspension is severe, but because he is a NASCAR driver, those comments DO reflect on them. Heck, average folk have been fired and/or prosecuted for social media comments.

Free Speech? Yeah, I've heard of it. Usually there's a lawsuit involved.

Do note though, I don't really care myself. I try not to use stereotypes by habit, and I usually filter my comments, this one included.

NASCAR considering changes to qualifying in 2014: NASCAR told its competitors Thursday it is considering eliminating single-car qualifying next season in an overhaul to how the field is set. Drivers from all three national series met with top NASCAR officials for almost two hours at the R&D Center in Concord to discuss several things under consideration for 2014. Among the ideas being considered is a group qualifying format similar to what was used on road courses this year. NASCAR is considering using that qualifying procedure everywhere except Daytona at Talladega. NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp says the field would likely be set at Daytona and Talladega with an "open qualifying session" that would allow for a 60-minute drafting session. NASCAR will also hold a Dec. 9 test at Charlotte to continue work on its intermediate track package.

Interesting to hear. Will they likely do that sort've qualifying the Trucks did a few times? Would speed up Qualifying.
