Wait a minute, I just remembered another driver with an Earnhardt Connection: Trevor Bayne. Here's how:

He starts his career in NASCAR Pro Series with..DEI. His teammate: Jeffrey Earnhardt. Then their Development driver program gets shutdown but thanks to that association, he ends up going to the Nationwide series with...Micheal Waltrip.

I know everyone has stopped talking about that pages ago, but it just occured to me and I felt I had to kinda share it.

I am numerically confused.... Didn't both the 01 and 8 run at the same time? :odd:

I just remember the 01 on NASCAR 09 you see

Yes, I believe at one point they ran the 1(Truex), the 01(Martin), the 8(Jr.), and the 15(Menard) full time. When Jr. jumped to Hendrick, the 01 was dumped in favor of the 8, but that's not in NASCAR 09 due to EA's determination to release the games mid-year and give them next year's number.

Edit: In Addition, the 8 didn't survive past Bristol 1 in 2009.

01 was part time then was it not?

Oh boy. In my effort, I seem to have confused myself....badly. Allow me to try this again, starting with the 2007 season and try to put it all together.

'07 season: Ginn Racing campaigns the ARMY #01 with Mark Martin, Regan Smith, and Aric Almirola. Team finishes 2nd in Daytona 500, and runs all season. The #13 with Joe Nemechek (who never should have given up the 01), the Waste Management #14 with Sterling Marlin, and a 500 attempt only #39 for Smith are also run, none finish 2007. DEI campaigns the Bass Pro #1 with Martin Truex, Jr., the Budweiser #8 with Dale Jr., and the Menards #15 with rookie Paul Menard. All complete the season.

'07-'08 off-season: Ginn Racing merges with DEI, shuttering the #13 and #14, sending remaining Ginn drivers Mark Martin, Aric Almirola, and Regan Smith to DEI to fill the void left by Dale Jr.'s departure for Hendrick Motorsports.

'08 season: DEI campaigns the Principal Finacial #01 with Regan Smith and Ron Fellows for road courses, the Bass Pro #1 with Truex, the ARMY #8 with Mark Martin and Aric Almirola, and the Menards #15 with Menard. All complete the season.

'08-'09 off-season: DEI and Ganassi Racing merge into Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, shuttering the #01, #15, #40, and #41. Regan Smith moves to Furniture Row #78, Mark Martin moves to Hendrick #5, Menard moves to Yates #98, Reed Sorenson falls off the face of the Earth.

'09 season: EGR fields the Bass Pro #1 with Truex, the Guitar Hero #8 with Aric Almirola, and the Target #42 with Juan Pablo Montoya. The #1 and #42 finish 2009 and continue today, sans Truex, but the #8 runs maybe a quarter of the schedule, the first one, before being shuttered.

There. Is it bad I remember alot of this off the top of my head?

And 2009 brad keselowski in the godaddy 25 right? Sure aric had army as sponsor.

He's won the 500 already, so if we go by that farfetched 3-year cycle it wouldn't fit in.

Oh I wasn't going off that mess, just found someone else with that connection. That and its just interesting where everyone's careers start and end up going.

The 40 died midway into 2008, when Dario broke his ankle* and gave up on NASCAR.

Yes, this is true.... kind of. The team did attempt a few late races, but didn't qualify. The merger ended any hope of the 40 returning. I seem to remember people going from thinking the 40 would return to immediately questioning the shut down of the fairly decent 41 team and Reed Sorenson, I being one, but after Texaco left, moving Target to JPM's 42, and seeing all the 8 could get was Guitar Hero, the reasons why were evident.

Typical Marcos Ambrose year.

Pretty much.

And judging by this article and another newspaper article I saw a while back. He'll return to V8 Supercars, unless he's breaks though for oval win in 2013.
It is understood Ambrose has committed to only one more year in the US and if he does not score a breakthrough victory on an oval next year, the door will still be open at FPR for a return to V8 Supercars in 2014.

Every 3 years since Earnhardt's death, someone associated with him has won the daytona 500.

If that still holds true, I predict that Earnhardt Jr. wins his second Daytona 500 with a last lap pass of Tony Stewart. 👍

Well, I'm new to this forum Thread, but I have followed Nascar since about 2006 - 2007.

So I am going to predict that Jimmie Johnson will win the Daytona 500.

Phoenix Racing has committed to at least 18 Cup races, no word on the drivers though past the first 2.

Thank you.

Oops I mean't Thread not forum, apologies I just woke up.

I've made worse mistakes fully awake.

And if that happens I predict Tony Stewart will whine and complain why he hasn't won the great american race yet.

So I am going to predict that Jimmie Johnson will win the Daytona 500.

His recent track records at plate tracks have been crap, so what makes you think he's going to win it?

Jeff Gordon's average Daytona 500 finish over the last 5 years is 29.2, so what makes you think he's going to win it?

Just a weird feeling, after all, I don't use previous results to make my predictions. We'll just have to wait and see.

Also looking a little further into the year, does anybody want to bet that Ambrose will take the win at the Glen... again?

Because he's Jeff Gordon that's why. And atleast he's had better luck their than Jimmie. Hopefully they finally get the plate racing problems figured out.

No I think Brad finally gets his first win there. He has good notch for road races.

That is the poorest logic I have heard from anyone in a long time.
