This should be a most interesting week of NASCAR. Wednesday night, the NASCAR Trucks get dirty at Eldora. The Nationwide Series will take on Indianapolis to keep that series going strong. And of course- Sprint Cup will be all dressed up and ready to go 400 miles around Indy for the Brickyard 400.

Again... this should be another interesting week of NASCAR racing. Good luck to all drivers and teams this week.
 
I don't mean to sound like a negative person, but I really think Nascar should give up on this "Super Weekend" deal they got going on and put the Nationwide series back at the short track across the way. It isn't netting them the attendance they desire, hell the Grand Am race had more people in attendance then both Nationwide and Cup.

I agree, just keep it like it was! Nationwide needs to be a middle ground between series too not Cup Jr.

Also, Funny how Kurt is tied with Danica for the amount of crashes yet even without a win is far higher in points.
 
Are you suggesting NASCAR Nationwide should race at Indianapolis Raceway Park (or whatever it's called nowadays) instead of Indianapolis Motor Speedway? I am not disagreeing with you or anything, RACECAR. I am a bit on the fence on that. I still like to think of Nationwide as a feeder series rather than (as you said) "Cup Jr." However, the opportunity to race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is always an enticing experience.

As for Trucks at Eldora, I may actually watch that event because I have a lot of ideas of how these trucks will be like to race on a track like Eldora. If this event goes successfully, I wonder if this could possibly lead to Nationwide and maybe even Cup trying one-off race events like these. The one thing I wouldn't bank on would be a NASCAR takeover of dirt track racing. I still am very interested to see how the trucks take on Eldora.


Just remember- the Trucks race on Wednesday night... just like the Bristol Truck race next month.

To be fair, it was actually Wilbur who made that comment about "Cup Jr".

My issue with this is that in a way, they already had a "Super Weekend" with packed seats at IRP for both ARCA and Trucks (Nationwide before, then the big race at the big track. And all because they wanted to boost attendance numbers at the big track, they strip the small track of its biggest races of the year and apart from the surprisingly good attendance in the Grand-Am race, it did nothing. The Nationwide race was poor and the Cup race was about the same. In fact if I'm honest, they should just leave Indy for Grand-Am and remove Nascar completely from the big track. They just aren't getting the crowds they used to and while I'm probably making a prediction too early, I think even this new car will not make the race any better. I would really love to be wrong because it has made the mile 1/2s actually not boring to watch and qualifying more exciting thanks to it actually looking like a fast car (and actually being a fast car).

Nationwide really doesn't do well to bridge the gap between Trucks and Cup because alot of drivers and teams act as if its just a slower cup car with way teams are run and schedules happen. Indy is a perfect example of such, the only major series I can see racing at the Brickyard should be Grand-Am, IndyCar, Cup and MotoGP. Nationwide to IRP and let the stands fill up.

It always seems like NASCAR tries to change where they run from some different tracks but yet they tend to produce great racing with full stands. Sure racing at Indy is a great tradition but leave it for what it is with Cup only. I know someone will make the deal about IndyCar and Indy lights but that's their Daytona of the series so argument kind of fails to me.
 

That is cool. I just hope that they have figured out how to keep them from tearing themselves apart. It's been 75 years, but there is one obvious comparison, and about four I can think of off the top of my head. The Hindenburg, The USS Akron, the USS Macon, and R101. Hindenburg was a hydrogen fire, but the other three were mainly from cables snapping and tearing open the gas bags. Still, this is just cool.

Cup Jr? I'd honestly say that's giving it credit still. Right now, Sprint Cup is the job, Nationwide is now a weekend filler the SC driver do because they can.

What would I do? Cup Series runs 30-35 races, Chase is negotiable, does run IMS but with USCR. NNS and Trucks run similar, if not mirrored, schedules consisting of 20-25 events, including one Daytona, one Dega, and IRP or ORP or WTHICMP. Then, give the Modifieds and regional series some exposure by adding them to the dockets on various weekends.

You know what makes the overall spreading-too-thin of NASCAR funny? The fact that some tracks, Daytona leading the way, are cutting their seating capacity. All that BS about Rockingham and North Wilkesboro now holds as much weight as the air it was stated with.

NASCAR is losing it's fan for two reasons I see. Same folks run upfront weekly with very little chance of anything changing and prices are way too high. I've even to two truck races this year which I spent maybe $100 per race total give or take. Yet ticket prices for any other events are way better even if it has cost me alot more to go, weird how that works huh.
 
Now, the prices aren't that bad here. Tickets full circle at TMS have been decent, but they beat out the pro games, either in cost outright or getting to the damned thing. Living outside DFW, getting to the arena where the Mavs play is a nightmare, and the Rangers games aren't cheap, then there's the Cowboys...yeah.

Not the cheapest, no, but generally worth the ticket. As opposed to watching a mediocre team while paying $10+ for anything, especially food.
 
Food is something we talked about a Bristol and what they charge for things. Only two tracks I've been to have really been non crap and that's Daytona and COTA seemed like someone would bring some food worth a crap these days!

My V8 tickets were $80 bucks for 3 days, I think that's a deal. One truck race is $30 locally for me.
 
About food, when I went to Dover earlier this year, burgers were around $6.00, and it was just a small one with a patty that tasted like something out of a Burger King restaurant. And don't get me started about the fries, which tasted like they were left out overnight.

The Dover tickets that me and my grandfather got were around $80.00 each, I believe, for the Cup race only. It's a better experience when you're at the track so it's totally worth it, as opposed to the boredom that you see on TV.
 
It's a $2.00 hot dog, and you 'don't care what I pay for it.'

I was about to say, I thought Martinsville Hot Dogs were cheap too.

I think its International Speedway Corporation's venues which give the most value for money food. I remember at Daytona this year, you could get Cheese Tacos and a soda for $4 total.
