An extra seat coming out of nowhere makes it more likely that Montoya can land a quality ride somewhere. I think that's good news. It also means one less start-and-park can get in the field each week next year. That's great news.

I hope not back to Johnson because even though i don't want him to Johnson will probably win a few more championships.

I'm glad you quoted IDIOTU, since I have him blocked. I can't help but notice that he left Bill Elliott's #9 car out of his list, which is definitely in that commercial.

The really sad part is that they put Keselowski in the commercial and left out much more historically important guys like Darrell Waltrip and Tony Stewart. In fact, Darrell Waltrip should have been the car to transition from Petty to Earnhardt, instead of Bill Elliott.

I understand that Kes has the most recent championship, but to put a one-time champion in that commercial with the likes of Petty/Earnhardt/Gordon/JJ is just a terrible idea. It makes Kes seem way more important than he really is at this point in his career. As of now, he's just a one-time fluke champion, a lot like the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Love you some Bristol? Love you some night racing? Well... we gots it, yo! NASCAR rocks Thunder Valley this week. It all begins with *cue Monday Night Football theme* Wednesday Night NASCAR as the Trucks take the first crack at Bristol. Friday night will be Nationwide's turn to take on Bristol. And on Saturday night, NASCAR Cup will be ready to throw down on the high banks. Good old short track racing at night.

Perhaps my biggest Bristol night racing memory was the 1999 incident when Dale Earnhardt spun out Terry LaBonte (Texas' own) on the final lap. The fans in the stands shared their lukewarm reaction. That was a crazy moment. Best of luck to all drivers and teams this week in all levels of NASCAR.

2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
-Came from the opposing side (Hendrick) like Jon Gruden (Oakland)
-Came into the championship game/race as the big underdog who had never won anything against one of the greatest teams in racing/football history.......
-....But more or less dominated the game while the opposing side doesn't find itself at all.
-Finally, defends the championship by at least struggling to make the play-offs..... Time will tell if I can replace this with out and out missing the play-offs (Which I doubt but still)
You may be on to something.

I wonder what number they'd give to Kurt Busch.

4 (Harvick) + 10 (Patrick) = 14 (Stewart) if that's anything to go by.

I'd say 41 or 40.

If that happens I will lose all respect for Stewart...👎:grumpy:

Why?? It's a smart move on Tony's part and Kurt busch is far more talented than 90% percent of the guys in the garage area!

How is he a one time fluke champion?

Two in a row Brad K!

I'd say 41 or 40.

#97 as it would be good for his legacy.

Still sour over Newman's Exit I'm guessing, or still don't like Kurt Busch? (assuming you never did in the first place)

Kurt outperforms almost everyone every week. Newman has been faster than Stewart all year. That FRR car has been faster than SHR all year and that is not Ryan's fault.

Interesting about Kurt Busch possibly moving to SHR next season. Definitely would be a slap in the face for Ryan Newman if SHR did expand to four cars next season.

And regarding the car number, well they might aswell stick with #39 ?

I can see SHR becoming a secon Hendrick team..with Kurt, Kevin, and Tony all being rather good drivers they will definetly be at the top. Danica will... Be at the bottom. Can't wait to see what happens, and all those "fighters" under one roof... Like a gang or something.

Kurt's got two interesting options on the table (both of which have Hendrick power behind them). Question is if he does leave, which would be a more perfect fit for him?

Kurt should stay with FRR, but sadly I doubt it. Team loyality is a rare commodity nowadays.

Statement from SHR: Tony Stewart Out for Remainder of 2013 Season; Mark Martin To Drive No. 14 Chevrolet at Bristol and 11 Other Races.
Excellent choice!! Somewhere up there Gene Hass is smiling :D

I'm not saying it's a bad choice, it's just a grade-A a-hole move to release a guy supposedly because of funding, than say you are expanding and planning on self funding the car.

Team loyality is a rare commodity nowadays.

It's always been a rare commodity, the only time anyone has stayed with a team for a long period of time is because that team was the best(or close to) for that whole period(i.e. Hendrick).

Or if said team offers you a lifetime contract, which you'd have to be really daft to refuse

I was waiting for someone to bring this up and I fully agree.

Remember the guy doing this is the same guy who wrecked the entire field at Talladega by throwing a block, then whines and cries and tries to throw a temper tantrum at Joey Logano because Joey blocked him on a late restart.

Tony Stewart is the biggest hypocrite in Nascar, no exceptions. End of. This is completely unsurprising.

Although, Montoya to FRR would be interesting if it happened.

I wonder if Newman or Martin will head to the #42 end of the year, I see Newman more of a shot to be honest, perhaps Mark to Furniture Row?

I can see Newman going to RCR, and Austin Dillon waiting another year. I think he could use that extra year in Nationwide, then replace Jeff Burton in the 31. Ganassi will bring Larson in most likely, although I think he needs to wait a year or two as well.

Maybe not, because...
RCR has partnered with D.G Yuengling & Son to be a primary sponsor on the #3 Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet with driver Ty Dillon during the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.

And there is a rumour that JP will return to Indy with Andretti Autosport.

Chip Ganassi's father, Floyd, has passed away today. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chip and his family :(

I read somewhere that RCR would put Newman in a 4th team car, if he could help secure enough sponsorship for the entire season. Presumably, that means Menard and Burton are safe, and that Dillon will be in the #3 car.

Yup, spot on for me.

And after RCR losing Harvick and Budweiser, I think its even more unlikely that they'll open up a 4th at RCR.

Kind of leaning towards this whole Newman thing with his lack of sponsorship being a fault of his own. He doesn't appear to be very marketable, and while Kurt Busch had his recent issues and wasn't very appealing to sponsors, he's proven he's gotten beyond those issues and now sponsors are looking at him.

You can't run a team without money, and you can't get money without sponsors.

Danica will be SHR's version of Casey Mears.

Maybe if she acts more aggressive she can be SHR's version of Brian Vickers

Wow that's stupid (keeping those guys) then, when did Nascar become F1?

Here is my take on the whole RCR, FRR, SHR.

Kurt needs to stay at FRR because he is top guy, makes alot of calls and gets to be very involved. He goes to a bigger team, he will have to play nice with less input which doesn't fit him well at all. I think reason why there wasn't offer from Furniture Row yet is because they are seeing how chase picture looks, they probably didn't expect to be where they are. If they win it (which they could based on their running outside of a crew), or top 5 type deal, could make a huge difference in what they offer.

Ryan got done dirty by someone like Haas, who seems to not include Tony in some business matters which is shady. I'd be ticked if I were either Tony or Ryan! RCR or EGR needs

Tony needs to handle that even if he isn't majority owner and is being walked all over.

So you think Ryan's unemployment was the handywork of Gene Haas, without input from Stewart?
