I know a lot of people don't like this move, but overall, it's great news for all of the other drivers still looking for a seat for next season. This creates a new seat that wouldn't have otherwise existed had Kurt stayed at FRR, or chosen to drive the #42 car. By choosing the offer from SHR, the #78 and #42 are still available, and now Kurt plus two more drivers can get a good seat for next season, instead of just Kurt plus one guy. If Childress can create a 4th car for Newman, it's doubly great news for all involved.

This might just keep JPM in Sprint Cup next season, possibly in the #78 car. I hope owners with open seats took note of his third place finish at Bristol, even after being busted for speeding on pit road with less than 200 laps to go. The guy can still drive, he just needs a better opportunity.

I really wonder what Chip is thinking, since Montoya now has 4 top-5 finishes (with two serious chances to win a race: Richmond and Dover), compared to Jamie Mac's 1 top-5 finish (and 0 potential wins). Had Montoya not run out of gas on the final lap at Sonoma, he would have had a 2nd place finish there, instead of a 34th place finish. That 32-point swing would be good enough for 18th in points, instead of 21st.

EDIT:
Remember when Earnhardt punted Labonte on the last lap in 1999? What many people don't see is that Terry had fresh tires and restarted all the way back in 5th with only 5 laps to go. In that short of a time span, he stormed passed everyone and had it in the bag until Earnhardt.....well...did what he did.

Oh yes.

Montoya isn't a bad driver at all. I just think Ganassi expected Hendrick engines would automatically propel his cars to the front of the pack, when that is far from the truth. Montoya will most likely be given an offer by Andretti Autosport for Indycar as well as any potential NASCAR seats.

So far for next season, the 78, whatever becomes of the 51 with it's new ownership, and the 42 are all vacant.

Kurts number is going to be 00, and his car will have Haas Automation logos. So it will essentially be this

Good, now someone respectable can drive the 78.

Also, I think I'm losing interest in NASCAR every year it seems. Haven't watched a full race in forever, and dont really miss it. :scared:

What keeps you coming back?

Hate to see Ryan Newman out of work (provisionally). Its just a case of being in the wrong place, wrong time. I don't honestly believe Martin Truex Jr, for example, is a better driver than him and he was fortunate to do well in a contract year and have an investing long-term sponsor to support him.

Holy crap, Busch, Harvick, and Smoke on one team? Don't they all have really short tempers? :p Hell, even Danica can be included I guess.. 4 drivers all with short tempers on one team? Should be interesting..

Danica is the key to the whole empire. She can take our people and nobody is allowed to question it.

Braking Bad meets NASCAR!

Just thought I'd leave it here. I've been listening to it for the past 4 days nonstop. :p

I see it as three guys who'll easily keep her in check the moment she decides to be a diva. Afterall, these guys know all about being divas :sly:

Edit: Just come to the realization that this now adds a second cup champion to SHR, which makes slightly more like Hendrick Motorsports. Now we just need one of them to have horrible luck and one to have painfully irritating good luck

And gentleman, I have just made a lap around Mosport (finally )

The time from me: 1'27.308

Beat that, Truckers ;)

I was against this move from day one but eh there are worse places for him to have went. I'm a Kurt fan since the blow up because I felt the media put most of the spin on it and don't allow drivers any ME time (see what I did there) to blow off steam or bait them alot which I hate shady crap like that. Kurt might be a dick at times but he is human with emotion and calls it as is without alot of smoke like others.

Overall he has probably some of the most talent in Cup period, hopefully this will make him a key player for awhile and not have issues as we seen. I do have a feeling he will dump Danica at some point during a race if she gets in his way BUT he might actually help her try where Tony doesn't really give a crap.

There is another rumor that Mark is headed to SHR for driving coach, which seems odd and while has talent, I think needs to move up in a team to something like competition director.

Let me take some time and hype up the Trucks race at Mosport (or Canadian Tire Motorsports Park). Mosport is one of Canada's best race tracks. I'm actually surprised NASCAR doesn't race a track like Mosport for two reasons. First off, the track flows very nicely and has a feel that I think really suits stock cars. I know it as a longtime venue for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. The second reason? Most pro American sports have either events in the Toronto area or have teams in Toronto. Case in point- the Toronto Raptors of the NBA, the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball, the good old Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL, Toronto FC in MLS, and teams like that. You have the NFL's Buffalo Bills who play a[n American gridiron] game in Toronto. So on this logic, what's wrong with NASCAR Trucks getting turned loose at Mosport?

I think it's about time NASCAR Trucks returned to road racing. I remember Trucks racing at tracks like Heartland Park Topeka and Portland International Raceway. The Trucks seemed too chickens:censored: to race on road courses, so it's great seeing the NASCAR Trucks hit up a road course again. And not just any road course- Mosport. I'd be happy even if the Trucks raced Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve or Mont-Tremblant. Also... what would happen if the NASCAR Trucks at Mosport faced a situation like what the Nationwide Series experienced like in THIS video:

Yeah- imagine if the Trucks took on Mosport in the wet. It is still going to be a great race to see when the Trucks take on Mosport. Mosport is a great race track. I was first introduced to it playing the PC version of "Sports Car GT." It may not be some flashy modern F1 track, but it is a course with plenty of character. I sometimes like to think of it as a Canadaian version of Sonoma Raceway. There isn't a true straightaway on Mosport much like Sonoma doesn't have a true straightaway (Stock Car or Sports Car course- and the Sports Car course has that drag strip with the little kink). You'll be going left and right consistently. You kind of need a balance of top speed and a solid suspension and handling setup with all the elevation changes. It's a little of everything for any kind of racing machine that races Mosport. When the Trucks take on Mosport, it's going to be a lot of fun speaking as a road racing and GT/Sportscar/Endurance racing fan.

This is a really good move, I promise you that in the next 3 years Stewart hass will win another championship!

He'll probably get to choose his own number, at least I'd imagine so.

It must be the #97! And sharpie must come back to sponsor kurt aswell!!!

Just thought I'd leave it here. I've been listening to it for the past 4 days nonstop. :p

#43 Legacy

ICEY, don't make promises for things in which you have zero control over.

1:26.736 with a slightly damaged truck on the fixed setup on my first lap. Lots of room for improvement ;)

It's time for brad to make the chase and not show that he's just not great, but one of THE greatest!

EDIT: And Jeff to!

Fast guys are qualifying in the 1:21's in the fixed setup, btw.

Love how I'm just now finding this out.

Oh well, chances are it'll likely take a while for the Truck series drivers to get those 1'21s. Been a While since the trucks have gone road course racing.

At least I bested you ;)

This means that Newman is down to 3 options, at best:

1. RCR's yet-to-be-announced 4th team car, pending sponsorship.
2. Furniture Row Racing's #78 car
3. Turner-Scott Motorsports's #51 car (assuming they bought Phoenix Racing, and assuming they haven't already picked another driver for this car)
