Brad Keselowski is done.

Now here come the conspiracy theorists saying that it's karma for Keselowski beating Johnson for the championship last year. :rolleyes:

Yeah, if given an opportunity to beat the 48, Brad should do what any person should do..... take the car to the garage and Start and Park.
 
24 has fallen off. They keep making the car looser somehow and that won't help them. If the 39 or 22 win it, its probably going to knock out the 24. Actually, if either of them win it, Gordon will need Kurt Busch or Greg Biffle to have issues at Richmond.
 
I watched the trucks race because it was at my local track.

Well, Papis and Skeen... Skeen's dive was wrong. Skeen's reaction was right. His girlfriend's reaction, nope, that was definitely wrong.


And then there's Chase Elliott. Was he awarded a penalty for that divebomb? That's a heck of a way to win races, and entirely the reason I prefer rallying.


But, darn Skeen's girlfriend's attractive. :lol:
 
It's karma for him being full of him self in the beginning of the season. I have no proof to back this up, purely a conspiracy theory.

It's pretty much been the 99's MO all year, shooting themselves in the foot constantly with bad pit calls and losing the car's handling over the course of a race. Chase contenders, not by a long shot.

This weekend, it's all about short tracks. NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Cup will stay in the good ol' South while the Trucks return to the United States to go in the Midwest. Nationwide and Cup will be at Richmond while the Trucks will race Sunday afternoon at Iowa. Pressure will be on the Cup drivers since this Saturday night will be the last chance for Chase contenders to get into this year's Chase for the Cup. A wild Trucks race at Mosport will fall into the intermediate speedway-like short track at Iowa Speedway.

Love you some short track racing? You're going to get it this weekend starting on Friday Night with Nationwide at Richmond.


In honor of NASCAR Trucks at Mosport, I figured I close this post out with a look at the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series standings. Here's the Top 10 among NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at present:

01: D.J. Kennington 387 pts.
02: Scott Steckly - 384 pts.
03: L.P. Dumoulin - 366 pts.
04: Jason Hathaway - 352 pts.
05: Martin Roy - 352 pts.
06: J.R. Fitzpatrick - 349 pts.
07: Noel Dowler - 313 pts.
08: Jason White - 311 pts.
09: Alex Guenette (Rookie of the Year leader) and Ron Beauchamp, Jr. - 302 pts. each

Just because this is the NASCAR thread doesn't mean it has to be about just the main series. So this post provides a little diversity. NASCAR Canadian Tire Series has two races left this season. The final two races in that series are at Barrie Speedway (Ore-Medonte, Ontario, Canada) on September 7, and the finale on September 21 at Kawartha Speedway (Fraserville, Ontario, Canada).


But anyhow, and back to the USA... back to short track racing for this weekend!

Burton to Swan Racing? Wendy Venturini reported at the end of Fox Sports' Race Day that the latest rumor in the garage has Ryan Newman on his way to Richard Childress Racing, but only as the third team, with #31-Jeff Burton moving to a "satellite team" for Childress. The #30 Swan Racing team was mention as the team for Burton, possibly with Caterpillar sponsorship. She also stated that David Stremme, current driver of the Swan Racing #30, is a part owner of that team, possibly complicating the deal.(9-1-2013)

I loved it. Jimmie agreed to be part of quite an awesome commercial. The advert isn't advocating Jimmie being a legend or being compared to legends, its simply posing the argument that being the best in your generation doesn't necessarily make you a legend. Great advert for me.

Good, I wish Burton was done with all together because I've seen him just not be worthy of the seat in recent years compared to other drivers. He also seems to get frustrated when he doesn't perform well, especially on short tracks and at super speedways.

What I want to know is how does he hold on to Caterpillar sponsorship, I'm glad at least you seem to think Burton isn't too great any more, mid to late 90s and late 00s revival Burton was good. I also don't think Menard is all that special, I mean Jamie Mac pulled off some good wins a couple years ago, but I still don't think he's great due to his lack of consistency. To be honest I see Richard getting rid of his good guys in favor of non-chase going drivers (e.g. Bowyer, and now Harvick) I'm curious if he wants full resources to his grand kids.

If Burton does end up at Swan Racing, then Newman maybe replaces him in the #31 ? And the #29 renumbered to #3 for Austin Dillon ?

As for Burton, yeah his best days were gone along time ago, however I can remember that 2010 season where he made the chase. Had a few opportunities to win, but just didn't happen.

That COMMERCIAL was posted a couple of days ago in this thread. I was expecting a clip of ESPN Teleprompter readers actually "talking" about legacies in NASCAR.

ESPN makes any commercial about a NASCAR driver, that guy you quoted will call it a legacy.

I don't dislike Menard but he really isn't that good when it comes to the level he is playing on with others around him, he's been in Cup since 04 I think. He only had the one win and 30 or 35 top tens in his career. The guys in the chase especially Bowyer and Junior got more than 2/3rds of that last year.
 
People, notice the two other DRIVERS they show, Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. This is about becoming the best ever and those two are regarded as the top 2 of all-time by almost everyone. Jeff Gordon is one of my favorite drivers, but the reason he isn't in this is because Jimmie is already ahead of him with 5 titles to Jeff's 4. The only two guys ahead are the two I already mentioned above. It's not all the past winners, it's the two drivers that Jimmie is&#65279; chasing in number of titles. Johnson will have to tie his legacy with Petty and Earnhardt's.
