NASCAR won't make any big changes for 10 years. The France Family has been doing things for 65 years and all they see is a loyal fan base. In 10 years when the ratings are dead and it's time to make a new contract with sports networks probably under new leadership and without a desperate need of programming, and with a depleted fan base due to old age primarily, maybe they'll do something then.

NASCAR was going along just fine until Bill France Jr. handed over the reigns to his son Brian "Braindead" France Jr in mid-2003. In his 10 years at the helm, the sport has degraded from the premier league it was in (full grandstands, good racing and TV ratings) to the complete cluster:censored: it is now. If NASCAR is to ever get back to its glory days, changes in the main office are a good place to start. 👍

When we have too level drivers coming from last to first, that's a clear indicator qualifying is useless. I agree, get rid of it.

But that's happened in other series though so not sure how that makes qualifying useless (unless you are talking about something else).

Don't forget that the cautions and these wave around rules kinda help.

"Too" should be "high". I agree that I inverting the field based on points will still reveal the cream, as they will make their way to the front anyway. Formula 1 qualifying is interesting and worth watching. NASCAR 1 car at a time qualifying is a waste of TV time, except for the networks to collect advertising dollars.

As for cautions, throwing a caution because a water bottle is in the grass is stupid, as is a car spins and is able to get back in the race. NASCAR has surprised us and not thrown a yellow for such instances. They need to do it more often though.

If NASCAR wants to attract new viewers, and fans to the track, the whole package needs to be less boring. A 43 car train at Talladega will not attract new fans.

I'm sorry but it's going to be weird seeing Matt drive an orange #20 car this weekend. It's going to make me think Stewart is driving it Ugh...Man I miss those days.

Here's how I would set a normal race weekend up:

2 open practice sessions(Each 2 hours long)
A 50 mile sprint race with the lineup being determined by the drivers best time in each session combined(with a mandatory 4 tire stop during the race). This race will also determine the lineup for the main race.
A 250 mile> main event.(The Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600 would be kept at the current distance)

There would also be no provisionals, so if you are out, you are out.

That format would also be partnered with a shorter, more diverse schedule(more road courses).

As for inverted fields, leave them for the Saturday night dirt tracks, they have no place in top level motorsports.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the back on this even more then the regular Yellow-to-orange fade on the Dollar General Paint scheme?

Is rather the back not be yellow. I do like yellow, but it looks odd.

I really hate the idiotic hashtag crap. Its nothing more then the number symbol that probably some idiot decided to recoin so it can sound "cool" but like most things about twitter, its lame.

#hashtag backlash #uncool #yo! :p

However, I did frown when I saw this as the sponsor.

Joey was the last one driving it. Tony has been long gone for a long time, he made his bed. Which he is enjoying, aside from not being able to race his own car. I see your point, it irked me when Brad first got into the 2.

I would've saved an all orange car for Halloween and perhaps some sort of NRA hunter safety theme :). If I think further, I loath it because it reminds me of the Tennessee Vols, who I hate!!! ROLL TIDE!!!

Good post ICEY

It just hit me, but Matt could very well win THREE IN A ROW...

.....In 4 differents sponsors/schemes:
He has already won with Husky, DG, his 500 Start scheme, and now, it could be with the Home Depot....

A "minimal change" in the Cromax logo....👎

This could be a great race but also could be a follow the leader. I'm still unsure if I will watch or not since I have to work that night.

Remove the wing for a spoiler, and I want something like this for 2015 or w/e the rumors are for.

I like it but I wish the wing looked more race car and less street, I mean I could buy something like that if I wanted.

In shocking news, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on the pole for Sunday's race!

And that is an issue, why?

Exactly what I'm thinking. I really do not understand this "OMG, Jr is on pole?" crap. It was justified years ago when his performance was in the crapper, but its gotten old.

Yeah it has become old, considering that Junior is probably one of the most consistent drivers in the field.

Debatable but I moved on from bashing him or his talent level. He is what he is and no sense to talk about it every week.

How convenient, the wambulance was released

Possibly a local emergency and they needed the ambulance. I don't think there were any serious incidents during the race itself.
