If winning the pole in a NASCAR race was an advantage, more pole winners would be winning races.

The fact that it's happened so infrequently in the last few years backs that up.

JGR just posted this...

I see this, and i give you 3

Ryan Reed is "Ready" to take the #16 next year.

Harvick's 2 more schemes for the next year.

Harvick's bud car is exactly the same... I was expecting something radically different... well it'll be interesting to see what harvick does with Hendrick stuff anyway.

It doesn't always work, but yes poles are an advantage.

Getting first pick of pit stall, getting to choose what lane to start the race, having a pretty good shot at leading at least the first lap to get the bonus point.

Being the fastest for 1 lap in qualifying does not always mean the fastest on race day.

More people have won from the pole this year then in recent years. I think it has to do with being able to pass easier so faster cars can move back to the front when they get in traffic

Or, it could be that passing is harder than ever.

"He's falling like a Monkey that's been shot out of a tree"

The hell

Gotta admit that 4 car could be deadly next year. Watch out. :)

I'm confident that it will be. No longer is he having to worry about having to step aside for the boss's kids and he's driving for his best friend.

That's way too hot. Who in their right mind wants to be outside when it's warmer than 75 degrees?

Are you kidding me? Who the hell turns back down after being hit while cars are still going at speed?

Which is ironic in the first place, because the Southern 500 was moved to November in 2004 because of the weather, before it leaving all together in 2005 for Texas.

No no no. Your really the only one who's been really giving the negative vibe about Jeff, not the others. Your right, I agree with you to an extent, but yes you can quantify a qualifying run for a long race especially if you get a good qualifying spot it'll translate for a good spot on pit road. The car's performance may decline during the 400 - 500 mile race and there might even be cars that might be better in the progress of a run, but that can be made up by good adjustments and excellent pit stops to stay in contention for the win. You need to qualify good inorder to make the best of a good or bad weekend/day in this sport PERIOD.

The other top ten drivers can also get good pit stalls as well without being P1. So you still seem to forget that reality, also those 10 are as fast or get faster, just like the bet you agreed to and ducked I'm pretty sure Gordon wont win this race. All of these what ifs still don't dispute the fact that unlike GP racing a pole position really doesn't get quantified unless everything falls into place on race day and we only see a handful of those.

Also looking at who we are talking about, they haven't had any idea on a continuous set up and Gordon seems to have trouble relating it. Also go tell that to Stewart during the chase in 2011 when he came from the far back to win, tell it to JJ. At this point it is just a nice stat.

Also thanks @ Roo

The race hasn't even started, and I think Front Row Joe might already be blowing up.

It's nice to see the 88 up front. I wouldn't complain [too much] if Jr can dominate this race and then win it. Hendrick cars are STRONG!

Whoops, there goes that. Wonder if Kasey will give it back?

 MustangRyan shows us the stuff that ESPN neglects cause they aren't the important cars.

They didn't show that on tv!? Seriously?

Menard was pulling out just as Danica went to slice in front of him, they collided and she spun backwards into her box. The crew serviced the car, including the gas man coming out to the outside of the car.

Kyle Larson is running really strong. 👍

I've been paying particular attention to him on the track, he seems pretty comfortable out there. For most of the night, Montoya has been ahead of Larsen, who has been ahead of McMurray. I think Chip let go of the wrong driver.

Not on my feed, I was surprised but I haven't seen much talk about her tonight so...

Also I never understood why Jamie is still given love by Chip, I mean the last time I remember Jamie being good was when he was given a cameo in Talladega nights and driving a ford.

Didn't he win at Indy and kill a bird on the track while doing his burnout? Or was that Burton?
