Absolutely not, the problem is Goodyear's continued incapability of making a good tire. 👎

It's one of the few series that doesn't allow options for tires from soft, hard or anything. I really don't get it at all to why they won't try out some new ideas other than that stupid let's make one part softer then other deal.

I don't even think it takes a rival, they just need to start actually shaking things up. Goodyear's problem is exactly the same as NASCAR's problem: They are complacent and they don't want to change. They are so stuck and set in their ways and continue to refuse change at all costs, even if said changes could actually help them.

Firestone would be a good competitor. I don't think they've screwed up a racing tire ever.
Firestone used to be NASCAR's biggest tire supplier back in the 50's and 60's. Then Dega opened.
People were blowing tires out every 5 laps. Firestone told NASCAR to postpone race to year after. NASCAR says no. Firestone left NASCAR and has never came back.

That first Talladega race was a complete mess. It should have been postponed.

Firestone is the exclusive tire supplier of the IRL. I not sure they would be able to do Nascar as well.

Maybe bring Hoosier back.

Hoosier? That went worst than Goodyear tires at Indy a few years ago.

Goodyear needs to stop making tires out of cheese.

Edit: And there goes the championship hopes for Jeff this year.

No shock. Gordon I don't think has ever ran well in this particular race. Now pretty much only a wreck will prevent the 20 or the 48. Hey, the 34 blew up, no caution. The 18 hits the wall. SOMEONE THROW A CAUTION!!!!!!!!!

Got to +2 this. Seriously, none of us benefit from only having a single tire manufacturer at a series. With Goodyear screwing around in NASCAR and Pirelli doing roughly the same at F1, it should be an obvious sign that it's time to see some competition, otherwise they have no reason to even bother producing quality tires.

Its different problems though. The FIA have basically given Pirelli some asinine instructions on the tire and as a result, we have seen some ridiculous things happen. NASCAR isn't doing anything about the way Goodyear is making their tires.

Hahaha, atleast we can both agree that the fords are crap.

If only you could look in the mirror and say LMS usually ends up being right. For example JJ and Matt are now stacked up together again. You shouldn't jump the gun on the idea that JJ has it in the bag.

You weren't wrong about Jeff not winning the title either.

Although I don't think any of us expected him to have the run at it that he did.

I thought he may have a fluke run, I just always expect it but when it didn't happen early on then yeah you're right. I wouldn't have expected Gordon to be third and with in an earshot of those two. However, he is now done for for sure and back in points yet again.

*puts on tinfoil hat*

Did you see that guys Gibbs told Kyle to speed down pit road to help Matt...OH NO, what if NASCAR are against Gibbs Toyota cars and are attacking them with "false speeding" claims to help JJ.

*sarcasm involved.

This is more like crew chief racing... the drivers are only out there to test their work...nothing they can do with these cars...

#48 team reporting a vibration. Not going to matter though considering there's only 13 laps left.
