Unbelievable when I read that stat. If a team wants to win, put him in. He was on a roll from jumping in the Erebus SLS last year at Homebush. Good stuff.

Maxim Martin and Sean Edwards were hauling ass these last laps. That Z4 blew past the ROWEs. Top pace from Sean running below 9min at the end.

Actually it was Maxime Martin who was doing the last stint ;) Remember his name, cause he is probably BMW's newest weapon in 2014 DTM !!

Really? I don't think so..

No, was the Britcar 24 not cut to 6 hours past couple years due to noise complaints from residents?

I totally forgot about the Britcar 24 Hours. I'd only too ever watched it because of Top Gear.

It looks like the race isn't on this year anyway. They're instead running a 1000KM race as the interest in the race was too low to be worthy of a full days racing. Shame really.

You can read about it here.

It was run as the Britcar 500 during the economic crisis, as there weren't enough teams that could afford to enter. At the time the cost of laying on the race was quite high as the organisers were renting the circuit from Silverstone with no support, so these costs was being divied up between the teams... at least that's what I was told at the time. Not sure if that's still the case. But if that's the case, half the number of teams equals double the cost to enter.

The question of noise pollution and complaints from local residents was raised much earlier this year, and was rumoured to be the reason behind the shortening of these years race, however if Britcar want to own up and say it's because of a lack of interest it's a real shame... it really is the best event on the UK calender to go too. I've only missed it twice, and the Britcar 500 was just not the same.

As for the N24.. Congrats to the winners... but I'm disappointed the BMW teams didn't offer stronger competition.

Poolhaas and I attended the N24. We made camp one of the larger campings.
Still tired, but enjoying good memories I present:

Nissan's maquete of the Nordschleife is to big to take a picture of. The track is that big.

Saturday was cloudy with some sunny patches. The think clouds are a forecast of things to come.

Saturday afternoon. 3 hour classic race. 200 oldies battling it out on the Nordschleife. These cars were not treated softly. At this time I was enjoy a beer a Brunchen.
I did not know that the same time the German police was towing my car away because of not allowed parking. My defence: I was not the only car.
I had to fork out 130 Euro at a police station 6 km from Brunchen. Then I had to collect my car in Hohe Acht (10 km from start/finish. Lesson learned the hard way.

It doesn't get more German than this.

Saturday night was a real blast with the sun setting during the Falken drift show.

Smoke gallore.

While only one works on the Subaru....

Not all women involved in racing are grid girls. This young lady was marking the

groves so that the tyre becomes a semislick.

Z4 GT3 spec is a very good looking car.

Legendary Manta still going strong.

Saturday night all hell broke loose. The race was stopped for 9 hours and was restarted at 8AM Sunday.
Here's GTplanet's Christhedude driving his Porsche 911 to 22 place overall (176 cars in total). Amazing. Congratulations Chris.

Nice color scheme on this 911. Fresh and modern.

But the historically colors of the Kremer Porsche still looks good too.

The only GTR contending was Schulze's. Great looking car, but the race when not that well.
It looked very promissing during night qualifying, but Kazunori Yamauchi and his team ended way down at the back of the pack.

Subaru should forget about rally and start focussing on GT racing. They have the tools at hand.

Do you know what car this is? Look at the car! ;) It's a Toyota GT86 tuned by Gazoo. Turbo and supercharged it puts 330 horses on the rear wheels.

Great shots and story along with it Marco 👍
Today I was thinking we should have just walked to hohe acht from brunnchen, taken the car and driven back to the police station. Would have saved us a heap of trouble
Still had fun this year, hoping for the next one in 2014.

Yeah, but at that time I was pretty 🤬 up in my head. So I could not really think of finding Hohe Acht myself.

The tent is dry and stored. The car is still a bit damp. Wheather here is not helping. But yes, next year I will be going. :)

Great vids! That onboard is incredible, I wish more drivers would do it! Love the pics too Marco, that Opel Manta is definitely one of my favourite cars. Brings a smile to my face every time I see it.

I'm really tempted to go next year, seems like a great weekend. I can imagine getting to different parts of the circuit is a pain though considering it's size.

Thanks MarcoM for the pics

I got hours and hours of onboard footage of the 24h race... currently editing the most exiting parts and once uploaded to my youtube channel, I'll post the video in here aswell.

Thanks again !

Chris

Great meeting you, Chris!

Congratulations on a nice drive. I'll be looking forward to your footage - I can't imagine how difficult those conditions must have been.

Hi Chris, I am glad you made it that far. Amazing achievement.

I tried to call you, but failed. Oh well, we had a great time anyway.

I think next year only can get better wheather wise. But nothing is sure nowadays. Wearing winter jacket, again.

Great meeting you too , Jordan !

Unfortunately my phone didnt work for the first 2 days that I was at the 'Ring.

Here's my highlight video of my 24 hour Nurburgring race.

regards

Chris

Brilliant video Chris.

Some excellent driving and what looked like a big surprise with the yellow forcing 60 KPM on the straight.

Chris, thanks for putting this impressive video together and sharing it with us! That double yellow moment scared the hell out of me, and that's while I was sitting comfortably on my sofa!

It's a bit funny the race was restarted because of the bad weather. From here the rain looked even worse on Monday morning.

I hope there's more to come for the rest of the VLN season!
